  • so you didn sparge? you just steeped and mashed out?

  • I think that thats a givin you have to have a Homebrew while brewing. Advice taken right from the pages of "The Complete Joy of Home Brewing" by Charlie Papazian. That colander is a pretty cool piece equipment. Cheers !

  • Great video. Gotta be careful running a propane burner indoors. The fumes are bad for ya.

  • @Dactat Thank's for the tip it's an LPG gas burner and I had the garage door open

  • Nice series Daz, I've just ordered all the kit needed to go all grain should be here in two or three days! Can't wait for your tasting video - I think you'll be blown away at how good it will be! Keep posting the vids mate! Cheers! 17!

  • @majorbossman Will do mate. Can't wait.

  • Good stuff, Gentle! Can't wait for the tasting! Gotta get yourself a wort chiller, I love mine.

  • @arrogantbastardale Neither can I.

  • @arrogantbastardale Already ordered one I need one bad

  • Looks like it all went well. Look forward to see how it turns out...Cheers!

  • Summer brewing for you! Like the method you use to mash. Cheers!

  • Awesome video...very well done.... I always drink home made beer when I am making beer!

  • +1... I'm contemplating making some sort of beer bread with the spent grain. Also read somewhere where you can make dog biscuits with it.

  • @brianpegan I want to do the same thing. Why waste them.

  • @brianpegan Let me know how it goes. Beer bread sounds pretty good to me.

  • Good video, as always mate! That beer looks fantastic!

Only peice of advice I have is get or make a wort chiller ASAP.. If you cool the wort in the kettle, most of that waste (clouds) that clump and form during the (cooling of the wort) cold break gets left behind in the kettle with the spent hops etc. Doubt you'll have any probs without one but it's less junk in the beer during the ferment. Incidentally, I bottled my all grain yesterday after 10 days in primary. Can't wait to try it :)

  • Well done gentle, great vid, I must admit the end of a brew day is a bit sketchy for me too. I take it this was the brew you were doing on Craig's cast last week? Hope it turns out well looking forward to your tasting 17.

  • Nice work on your All Grain! Sampling is part of brewing, it must be done. Couldnt of been to bad you looked bright and chipper at the end of the video.

  • Seriously? Amazing stuff bro!

  • Looks like the first all-grain brew was a success! I think I'm gonna get a freezer too before summer rolls around so I can keep my ferment temps down too, good idea there. :)

  • Where was your instructional video teaching us how to properly lotion up our bodies, advising us the importance of wearing a face mask, and why it is essential to catch dust particles/possible infections out of thin air with our bare hands?

  • Hi there...

12g of yeast is more then enough for a 25 liter batch. If you want to add more yeastcells to hurry up a fermentation, just do a starter the day before like I do. Saves money on the yeast anyway, and makes sure your yeast are allive. I strongly rekomend you buy a wortchiller, 10-15 minutes and the wort is at the right temperature. And last but not least I'm guessing about 4,8% ABV. Cheers ;)

  • @jakubatube Great idea about the yeast starter. I used the 2 packets because the brew shop told me to. With such a cold ferment 12 C 50 F I did not want to leave it to chance. Purchased a wort chiller online from the USA. Should have it soon. I'm also thinking about 4.8 ABV. I must admit I don't normally test the % I just know that if I am drinking my home brew I'm not driving. Thanks for your comments.

  • Good vid. Interesting take on the BIAB using a steel colander, where did you get one that size? One thing I would say is it appears you are using your burner inside, No idea what gas or burner you are using but I hope you've got plenty of ventilation to prevent Carbon monoxide poisoning.

  • @TheFlatulentCow The Colander was custom made. I bought it 2nd hand of a brewer that was updating his gear. I was using the burner in the garage and had the garage door open. Good point though regarding monoxide poisoning and something to be aware of. Thanks

  • so just a couple things for your next beer just to help with the ferment proof your dry yeast in 90-100F water for no longer then 20mins. dont stir the yeast into the water till just before you pitch it. Also, go get some beer yeast nutrient and add that to your wort with 10 mins left in the boil.

  • @prccap Great idea about the yeast nutrient will do this for sure thanks mate.

  • When you starting cooking your grain, it certainly did look like porridge. Gee, with all that equipment you have there, it certainly looks like you have your own Micro-Brewery setup....What is the law with home brewing - are you permitted to sell it to the public ? Cheers, VB Ed.

  • @SuperHorse666 I wish you could sell it, however the law forbids it. I believe the law allows you to make alcohol up to 18% without any problems. Most people that make there own spirits would go way above this however. I think they turn a blind eye to it. Does not effect me as I don't drink spirits so have no desire to make them. Thanks for your comments VB Ed

  • Awesome, awesome awesome! Can't wait to see the tasting. I hope it turned out exactly how you wanted it! :-)

  • @terpsichoreankid Can't wait for the tasting either. Thanks for your comments.

  • I actually think you were easier to understand towards the end....:)

  • Great vid just like the rest in the series. Also liked you giving us an update on Craigs cast last week! Looking foward to seeing how it turns out mate. 17

  • @WHUFC91 Looking forward to tasting it myself. It's now in the keg and should be ready for tasting in about 7 days. Don't know if I can wait that long LOL

  • Tis is funny as F as I remember you updating Craig every 10 mins on the birth of your baby and you were "in the bag" pitching the yeast, well done I am very envious and look forward to the tasting!

    No bloopers? :-)

    Ulllaa

  • @joctcl If I did bloopers it would be a 30 min video LOL. I did get pretty crunk during those updates. It should be ready for drinking during Craig's cast next week.

  • @joctcl There Just HAVE to be Bloopers!! I Can't wait for those!! ;c)

  • well you better em quick they will sour fast

  • Sssluuuring? what sssluuuring. ;-) just kidding that was great. There is a lot of down time in AG brewing. Great to see your journey. Cheers!

  • @PapiPaolo The down time is the best time LOL
