If you want to ask "why he put it in there?" Then why do they put 'anything' in any song?

Having "rice in the microwave, and a three day beard" is telling you how he looks and what he's doing and that he don't care what people think, because "He's doing alright."

You cant focus on that one little line, you have to look at the song as a whole.

You do not appear to be much of fan of country music or else you likely understand the nature of why country music is written the way it is.

If you wanted to get technical, you could find something irrelevant in almost every song out there.
