It doesn't matter how many records you sell, it's about the music. Beastie Boys where very successful while keeping the hip hop message real. Sure they mix different genres, but they got the hip hop heart. Between 3rd bass and the Beasties, I gotta say the Beastie Boys are superior in both rhymes and the music. 3rd bass just hated the fact that for one moment they had a straight up hip hop song, then the next they sounded rock. Vanilla was perfect Hip-Pop", And 3'rd Bass were just lousy. They were signed to Def Jam to replace BB, not because they were talented. They were cringeworthy in there attempts to win over black audiences. and they involved themselves in a beef that nothing to do with them. (BB v RS)
