This scene scared the crap out of me. But the scariest and most horrifying part was the ending where they kill (spoilers). And then they give the type "() swallowed his cyanide pill, () was beheaded in a camp, () died under torture revealing one name, his own, and () who decided NOT TO RUN!"
God, what a moral gray area. Really really thought-provoking. Betrayal cannot go unpunished, but garroting someone, especially one of your own and someone who wasn't an IMMEDIATE threat...worlds away from sabotage.
One of the most horryfying and disturbing onscreen deaths, so realistic, so brutal ... thanks for this clip (but you should add more tags so more people can find it)

Plutôt du réalisme, que de l'existentialisme...
A truely great film. Should be played next to Spielberg's Private Ryan really.. Both are realists... showing the war well, civil and military.
Numerous 'cult' scenes in this one, and breathtaking actors. And Simone Signoret is not even playing in this piece !!!
Thanks for posting.
