  • I hate when you have the corner but the edge is down below and you have to waste moves to get it up top. How do I fix this?

  • for case no 2 i just do (U R' F R F' R' F R F')

  • at 4:00 you can insert that pair much more easier with just three moves f R' f'

  • correct me if I'm wrong but i think at 3:01 it should have been l2 R U' R' U l'

anyways, I still think you're the best EVER!!!!!! THANKS SOOOO MUCH!!!!

  • @jat989 LOL im an idiot... obviously you were right..... XD ignore the stupid algorithm of my previous comment...

  • What types of cubes do you use (DIY, Rubik's brand)

  • So at 1:57 can't you just do a U2 L' U' L?

  • for the case at 2:35 (you place the pair in front of you) and do the algorithm:

    r U R' U' M

and for the case at 3:45 (you put the pair in the back) and do the algorithm:

    r' U' R U M'

  • WOW...my mind is blown...the way you finished the cube at the end!!! hahaha

I love your videos! I've watched about ten of them so far and I don't even have my cube with me. (I started 'cubing' yesterday and have solved one side and the corresponding edges and corners so far.) I can't wait to put this info to use!

Do you think it will be possible to get fast at cubing if I have nerve damage in my left hand (loss 1/3 of the use)? I am righty...do I need the left hand as much as the right?

  • 1:02 you could have done R U' R2 F R F' to get an OLL skip :P

  • for the last case i can do f R' f' pretty fast.

    but you lose look ahead.

  • For that last case, I don't really spot myself doing it much anymore, but I used to use f R' f'. The regrip is really awkward and slow, so I don't use it anymore. At least I think I don't. I might for like the last pair because I can't track pieces through it to save my life.

  • Your tutorials are freaking amazing....and OH so useful.

  • the cube moves like butter lol

  • for the second case (where the f2l has to be inserted at the back).

keep the pair at the back, and do this alg:

    r' U' R U M

if the pair has to be inserted to the left, just do the mirror of this alg....

  • Comment removed

  • M is like doing an R move, but the its the middle slice

  • @uNamed2lyfe The last move should be a M' but i always mix up these two as well ;)

But yeah, that's the algorithm i'm using too and it's a lot faster (at least for me).

  • @limdaepl M follows the L right?

  • @uNamed2lyfe: Exactly, that's why the algorithm ends with M':

    r' U' R U M'. Right?

  • nice

  • at 2:47 pause and do F R' F' R

  • HAHA 2:52 - 2:54 "and do that"

my face was litterally like o_O

  • Badmephisto, you are the man. I know this is an old one, but hadn't seen this video before. You continue to kick ass, thanx for the tips! Very helpful.

  • My fingers are faster in M slices then in L moves.

  • badMephisto is an Animal lover. I can see it in his hands.

    Thanks Sir BadMephisto

  • ROFL

  • amazing :)

  • Double flicks ftw.

  • hes good

  • the way i solve the [F'U'FU] setup is:

    rUR'U'M'

imo it floats nicer than the lRU'R'Ul' alg

  • M' ??

  • middle counter clockwise

  • 0:30

i can hear a cat hehe

  • this is exactly the video i was looking for thanks

  • Another great video. Glad you posted it. I like the first two, because they always seem to come up and i am always "throwing" the corner up to work on it. 5 stars. Keep it up! Your a great teacher!

  • That last one is really annoying. I keep doing R' U R' instead of R2 F cos I keep pressing my index finger too early.

  • i use some differ techs

  • I'm really having a hard time in practicing those techniques,,,!!!what will I do to master it???

  • the second case you can also do (R'FRF')(R'FRF') with the orange lined up

  • what plll was that at the end

  • J perm

  • 2:52 lol

  • lmao....ya 2:52 is priceless. i was like holy crap wtf!

  • ...maybe there is a reason why I listed this video in my "Advanced Cubing Videos" playlist

  • this isn't for beginners..

  • I use (rUR'U)r'R for the first awkward F2L case, notice the first part is the RUR'U' trigger but a small r at the beginning, and if you want instead of doing r'R you can do M with the index finger :)

  • Hey badmephisto, did you come up with the rotationless insertion? The first one is a lot faster than what I would normally do, which would be d(R'UR). I don't know why but d moves are really awkward to execute for me and slows me down. Anyway If you got this of another website, can shed some light on where you got it? I could really use some more of these tips.

  • For that last part: The quickest way to insert the F2L pair without re-gripping would be to move the bottom two layer's ( d or d' ) and with that one move you can then easily insert the pair.

  • if you dont count those as rotations, then i can solve every single cube without a single rotation.

  • what was that very last algorithm you did when you solved the cube?

  • Looks like a J-Perm to me...and a very pretty one, too.

  • J perm i believe...

  • xD it was funny when you couldn't remember the alg

  • thanks!

  • Whatever happened to that tutorial you planned that 'would drop your average by like 20 secs.' that you scrapped to do that 2-Look PLL tutorial?

  • I believe he was joking about that lol

  • ;) exactly

  • i like these make more of these please

  • Haha your'e losing it at 3:14, but this video helped alot :)

  • Lol i love 2:52 to 2:58

Nice vid by the way. I think these tips are going to help me a lot

  • How about holding the white face as the front face and going U R' U' R?

  • I was going to say the same thing!

  • yes that can be done as well, but it involves a cube rotation. The whole point in the ones I was showing here is to avoid those. Maybe its not as fast, or maybe it is. You decide :)

  • hahahhahahha that was hilarious when you were so off hahaha

  • can u make an average video?

  • For rotation-less insert, the first case can be F R' F' R.

  • yes, but isnt that too weird to execute? :s

  • awesome video!

  • Can you provide some links to where you found the second set of tricks. The one to minimize cube rotations. These two are awesome I wanna see if there are anymore. Thanks!

  • Dang! Thats one smooth rubiks cube. I tried to lubricate mine but it still SUCKS! So I bought a speed cube on ebay and I'm still waiting for it =\

  • lol

    *realy fast cube move Cuckles*

  • I absolutely LOVE your voice! :)

  • Why not make a video helping on solving 4 x 4 or 5 x 5 Cubes? Most i have found to help on those are really confusing... whereas you are THE BEST explainer around youtube who i have met... so if you need ideas... teach us how to solve 4 x 4 or 5 x 5 cubes and how to improve our speeds on solving them :P Thanks :D

  • well it may be quite confusing for those people who don't know how to solve a 4x4 because solving a 4x4 is totally different from 3x3 (except the last step of 4x4)but once you know how to solve 4x4 , you won't get confuse easily in solving a 5x5

  • I have another algorithm for the 2nd case..

    the one with the bottom..

    Again. from the original position

    (U F' U' F U F' U F)

I think this one is better because you don't need any re-grips if you

In addition, this is a "trigger" algorithm

  • f's are awkward though

  • Hmm i do hmm you can do Ls instead of Fs. but you can you'll use a simple cube rotation (regrip)

  • I'd just like to point out a helpful tip for everyone. After performing BUB', this can be solved easily using only a grip change. Grip the cube with both thumbs on the bottom back of the cube and your two middle fingers on the upper back of the cube then performing a fR'f' using your index fingers for the f and f' moves. Let me know if you have any questions or comments =)

  • Thanks again, it's sad that you're running out of topics to make tutorials about, but this is definitely something that someone(s) can master and hopefully aid in reducing cube rotations.

  • Nice tutorial again. the first part helps beginners a lot with intuitive f2l I think and the second part is really nice also, but for the first case, I would set up F' U' F U and then solve with r U R' U' M or R r' for M it is fast too and you don't have to regrip for the l.

I like the second case but I don't know if I will get used to it or learn the 3 move solution from the annotation which seems great too.

  • nice vid - just rmeember every1 - it is NOT fast finger turns for fast times - it is look ahead =) especially if ur trying to get faster. yes i know nakaji does fast tps - but trust me on this =D

  • ahaha thanks :P i knew most of the cases ^^

  • did i hear a 'meow' at around 30 seconds?

  • Lol, ye.

    Nice video.

  • hahaha i think so. it gave me a good laugh

  • yes

  • Thanks again. I already knew about the corner liberation tricks, but those insert tricks were pretty cool.

I realise you've already done a couple, but I would like to see a few more one step stop solves, they are really helpful now that im edging towards the 20 second region.

  • nice tutorial badmephisto. You are awesome!!

  • i started 1 month ago and thx 2 this guy my average is 1;27

  • mayby you should move on to the 4x4x4

  • for that second case, i'd rather just do

    d R' U' R U R' U' R

  • Nice tricks! Should help me speed up my F2l. Still learning all the OLL's but I haven't got enough time on my hands to learn regulary so I just learn one when I can.

  • great freakin tricks...thanks!!!!

  • So what's the combination of method to solve Rubik's in the fastest way? F2L+OLL?

    Please help me!!!

  • Haha, you laughed at your own joke :p You were way off :D

  • hey dude i think you are a great cuber!!!

  • yay! Short tutorials like these are just what I need right now!

  • i know eh... that last bld 30 minute tutorial was quite something :p

  • Heh, yup (though I watched all 30 minutes of it... ;) )

  • Hey, did you happen to get that PM I sent you? I would really like to know about buying a DIY cube, and the sooner the better ;)

  • can you make something a tutorial or something of a trick for OLL memorisation and execution for OLL and PLL?

i would really need some help on my last layer

  • He's already made videos about LL, just look them up.

  • Thanks for the tips, should help my f2l speed since I do too many cube rotations

  • Thanks for this video. These are excellent tips!

  • hey mephisto, can you do some tutorials on OLL tips or tricks

I've watched your previous video but still I'm having problems on OLL

  • for that last trick I just do

    f R' f'

  • see i didnt even know that! awesome! :D

  • even though doing F's in middle of F2L seems a little cumbersome. I can't seem to do it faster than just doing the cube rotation. pretty cool still though

  • just yay

  • nice tutorial =D
