  • CAN I PLEASE HAVE THE SHEET MUSIC FOR THIS?

  • @callmeJakeyyHD email offbeatmusicstore@gmail.com and they can send it to you for about $6

  • reminds me of the zappa version with the horns

  • @MrMariodave Frank's version is exactly what inspired me to learn this solo... at the time I had no clue you can play a guitar solo on another instrument...duh!

  • This fucking OWNS! Really nice sounds coming out of that thing, and GREAT sixlets, and your singles were freakin' clean!

  • wtf thats cute xD

  • NO STAIRWAY lol

  • I like this song that you did and I did not notice the mist notes. You realy rock at the xylophone and I play the xylophone at my school. I wish I could rock on the xylophone .

  • Sorry but you just cant make a marimba sound hardcore, you just... cant

  • haha hey jim this is ryan. great job!!

  • i thought it was pretty decent. :]

this is so NOT a goddamn glock. it probably is some sort of low xylo or something of that nature, but it is NOT a glock. chill.

  • u a dumb ass

  • Have any of you ever played a glock? it has metal bars and does not sound like that, that seems like a low octave xylo or something, but no glock.

  • to the people out there...go through wikipedia...it'll give you answers...:P

  • to all the retards commenting here. THIS IS NOT A GLOCK! Glocks are METAL, and are NEVER, I repeat, never; out of the 4th total octave. Most range around 6-7.5

  • Turns out this actually is a xylo, or a 3-octave marimba in it's lower range. I only counted three sets of accidentals. xD But good job otherwise.

  • I disagree. A glokenspeil is what people refer to as a "Bell Kit" and is a 2.5 octave, metal barred, very high pitched instrument.

  • @Basalisk172 no, your just dumb.

  • Just get a life that's a glock anyways, there's only two B flats it's a glock

  • so your saying any keyboard percussion instrument with only 2 b flats is a glock? if so then your dumb. good day

  • @Basalisk172 no, this is definitly not a glock. dumb ass

  • sick good job

  • Nice, but, from the angle is looks as if it's a xylophone, because it looks smaller than a normal marimba.

  • Other than the effects and the EQ on the marimba, pretty good!

  • wow that was pretty good and i should know about the marimba im from guatemala.

  • dayyyyyyyym...

  • Pretty good I can play the beginning on marimba with my friend I wrote on this part on finale but have been to lazy to learn it.

  • Nice job.

  • woh,

  • Sick!!! I play guitar and I can't even come remotly close to that. Mad skills!!

  • You have kept me occupied for :49 seconds [: thanks! lol

  • ROFLCOPTER YES YES YES!!!!!

  • haha this is excellent. a little weird, but very entertaining nonetheless.

  • that is marimba from GUATEMALA

  • i know how to translate guitar tabs to xylohone/piano sheet music in my head but i don't know that solo on any part that is pretty fuck in tight

  • hahaha. niceee. think i might try it now. :P

  • Aahahahaha that was so inspiring. :D

  • that would make good elevator music if it was just the marimba

  • lolololol

  • @Bra1nBust3r thats the truth, lol

  • And thats why they have it on guitar. No but it was still good.

  • could you send me the sheet music for that if you have it thanks

  • You know, do these sort of things is always fun. I'm a huge fan of Led Zepp., but this really just didn't it for me.

  • Hats off to you man...that was pretty cool!

  • lola

  • I lol'd hard. this is fucking great.

  • this could possibley be the best thing i hav ever seen! i love it

  • You have a very nice and light sound and sense of rhythm. Feels and sounds very natural, nice!

  • it looks weird cuz its in negitive i bet if it were normal it'd look more like a marimba

  • I've seen some 2.5 octave marimbas with my own eyes. They're a sad sight, to be sure, but they're out there.

  • Ahh... Thank you Mr. MKfulcrum. Like Bigfoot and such, they truly do exist. This is a 2 and a half octave scale, keyboard percussion instrument. Rosewood Musser Bars on an homemade frame set up like a marimba or xylophone (raised sharps/flats). These are not vibes and not metal bars, they are rosewood wooden bars... very much like a marimba! This particular gem has no resonators but, for some reason, it still records ok...very portable and fun too.

  • i thought 3 1/2 were small this is unheard of

  • @MKfulcrum There's even just 2 octave marimbas. Musser's M63 marching marimba. :P

  • come on children its a xylophone, theres like barely 3 octaves and no resonators

  • are you sure thats not a vibe?

  • but other than the fact that this is a marimba, this is pretty cool lol, its cool to hear it with the rock music in the background. it clashes nicely.

  • the video is even titled as MARIMBA SOLO.

    ergo.........its a marimba.

i play the vibes and.. ive played on several kinds and none are even close to being or sounding like wood.

  • haha this sounded very nice.. i like it.. check my version of the solo too if you like

  • anyone know where i can get sheet music for this? im trying to make a melodica cover of the solo, but cannot find sheet music

  • Awesome! From now on, my dream band has a marimba player.

  • Its a vibraphone :)

  • no it definitely isn't, maybe you should do some research on percussion instruments

  • are you dumb? I have been playing this instrument my self, so shut the fuck up?

  • no your dumb, theres no sustain pedal, the keys are wooden, or some kind of synthetic material that doesn't produce any type of metalic sound, so next time you call someone dumb make sure you dont make a dumb mistake by not knowing what the fuck your talking about and ending the phrase "shut the fuck up" with a question mark

  • First, you have to know something about this instrument. 1: The sustain pedal isn't permanently attached to the instrument, so he might have taken it of. 2: Not all vibraphones are sold with a sustain pedal, some of them just a vibrato, which is hidden underneath the tangents. 3. Yes, it is a VERY metallic sound, and it sounds good. If me calling you a dumb, did hit you very bad, I apologize for that.

  • It didn't hit me bad I just don't agree with someone calling me dumb who is an idiot. Its not a vibraphone the keys aren't even aligned, the sharps/flats are raised. Vibe keys are all level. And yes it doesn't have to have a sustain pedal but the keys are surely not metalic. Plus the creator of the video, who I apologize for continuing this debate on your video, labeled the title "Marimba." I can assure you this it no vibraphone, if you don't believe me thats fine but you're wrong.

  • Okay your arguments have convinced me. But then again, the vibra I played, wasn't level, regarding the tangents.

  • Sounds like a marimba and it looks like one.

So I think it must be one...

Vibes are metal and that definitely sounded like wood.

  • You rock! I want more!

  • not bad

  • could you send me the sheet music for that if you have it thanks

  • NO that is not a Vibraphone its a Xylo with marimba type resonaters so its in between xylo and marimba but its cool you the instruments

  • it's actually called a marimbaphone. its real look it up or google it or something.

  • It could also be called a xylo-marimba

  • thats a vibraphonee.

    cool though

  • Wat are ur notes 4 that?

  • that not evern a marimba. thats a xylo

  • dude thats insane , do you have music for that?

  • i'm pretty sure thats a vibraphone, but it was still an awesome solo.

  • thats tight! awesome job

  • can i have the sheet music for this

  • that os beasty

  • yeah that doesnt look like a marimba

  • it's a small one

  • omg jeez who cares how he hits it or what he is playing, didn't you notice how awesome this is?

  • Dude, while this is a good performance, you need to work a bit on your technique. You use way too much arm on your right hand (I can't tell about the left) and you hit the instrument at too much of a downward angle with the left. Other than that it's awesome!

  • hate to dissapoint ya but eather thats a xylophone, or its one damned small marimba

  • Right, all I can tell you is that these are Musser bars on a homemade frame, no resonators... I'm not sure what to call it.

  • i bet its a real long german-sounding technical word ^_^

  • @Ufipman Call it.... calll it... call it ummmmmm call it the stair stepper 3000 cus of all those stairs in the stairway to heaven. XD

  • on the whole where to hit the bar debate: both answers are right, it depends on the marimba

if you have a marimba like a yamaha acoustalon or similar that is made out of a composite material it sounds about the same whether you hit it dead center or a little off

if you have a nice rosewood marimba especially one such as a MarimbaOne or a Malletech Imperial Grand, etc you will notice it does sound better if you hit the bar a little off center

and no you never want to hit the nodes

  • God...

I remember how many times I hit the nodes when I was first learning how to play the Marimba

It's the most annoying thing in the world

    God, I love this instrument!

  • amazing.... truly amazimg

  • HAHA!! thats insane!! AWESOME!!

  • Heh, this is great.

"great playing but your too into the middle of the bars. move off thejm some and you'll get better sound"

WRONG... you get the best sound on the middle or on the edge. If you play over the node, it will dampen the bar and give it a really bad, dead sound.

  • Actually. . . If you play in exactly the center of the bar, that's a node also. The best playing spot for a marimba (NOT a Xylophone) is about a third of the way from the center to the node, that way you're not RIGHT in the center (which is a Node) and not near the traditional "node" and that will give you the best sound. Check out Method of Movement if you don't believe me.

  • You should hit pretty much directly over the resonator which is usually just about at the center of the key. That allows the resonator to collect the most waves and not have them scatter so you get the best sound. Also hitting the center of the bar puts it into the most motion giving you the best sound. Now on a timpani you do want to hit about a third of the way in and not dead center.

  • The bars function just the same as a head: hitting exactly the middle is just as bad as hitting too closely to the strings. Hence why resonators are typically off-center as well.

  • I don't have a clue what your on about. the centre of the bar is the best place to play. and about the typically off centre resonators. have have seen a lot of marimbas that i have played on at WAAPA right near me and the resonators are central. on all the resonators are central. and these are on Adams Korogi Musser. they are all central

  • The node in the middle is only for the xylo... -.-

  • wow...gives it an asian feel !

  • this is good stuff!!

  • awsome

  • Talent!

  • great playing but your too into the middle of the bars. move off thejm some and you'll get better sound

  • don't listen to this .. my teacher says the best spot IS in the middle. awesome .. and how did you figure that out?

  • nifty^^

  • tight dude

  • Very cool!!

  • nice work

  • how sweet :) ^^

  • this is sick!

  • FUCKY YEAHH!!!

  • excellent !!!!

  • awesome :D i love it

  • sweet!

  • LOL that's awsome!

  • Sick as hell man kinda funny too but good

  • very nice man!

  • holy shit! That was fucking cool as hell

  • Awesome, simply awesome. Great job.

  • wow, that's something you don't see everyday *****

  • thats really awesome

  • hahaha thast cool as hell. only one part sounded wrong but i guess its hard to do on a marimba. very cool
