Would a denturist/dentist be willing to perform this procedure (mini implants, that is) on a former bulimic/anorexic? I WAS a bulimic/anorexic for 8 years of my life since 16, now I'm 25 with a mouth full of trouble! I have gained 35 lbs, from a former weight of 90, and am ready to make a move on my life. The only trouble is, my teeth are in a ruinous state.
Looking in the mirror and seeing myself at my best (minus the teeth), is a constant reminder... this procedure gives me hope for tomorro
I don't know why people are saying it costs so much. I just saw my dentist this week and it will cost (for the denture held in with 4 mini implants ) a total of $5,000 (five thousand US dollars). It is $800 for each mini-implant, $200 for each connector (which are embedded in the denture), and $1000 for the denture/teeth part itself. So, don't be put off by these outrageous costs people are talking about! BTW, I am going to a very reputable dentist, not one of those "drive-through clinics!
?how much are mini implants?- you all are saying 40-60 K - good lord - that is outrageous! Real people can't afford this. I thought mini implants was something new, that cost less - so much for getting anything done - how many have 50K laying around? And while it's a great thing and a huge change, dentists should be making it more affordable to the average person. Right now only millionaires, actors and people who put a second mortgage on their house can afford this.
I thought with implant held dentures you don't need the top part that suctions to the roof of the mouth? Was under the impression with implant dentures there is nothing to suction to the roof of the mouth that it's just a horseshoe shaped piece with teeth attached to it???
That looks very practical and affordable. Complete implants are just too likely to fail for the people who need them most, plus they are not affordable for 90% of the population. Plus, sometimes it would be nice to be able to take your fake teeth out to clean a bit.
Leaving him with an upper plate with six implants strikes me as unconscionable. How crappy are thise implants they can't support something without a plate?
For God's sake. All I ever here people talk about with regard to dental procedures is the physical pain. The pain this ..the pain that WHO CARES!!!!
It is the pain to my wallet that is the ONLY pain that concerns me. My teeth have given my a lifetime of agony and for what?..only to be left with an empty mouth in my middle years. I'd undergo this "operation" sans painkiller if I could get it done with minimal damage to my pocketbook
What is the point if you still have a plate? That's the worst part about an upper denture. The only advantage I see is not having to use adhesive. I know you can get regular implants without a plate. Sounds like to me the mini implants are almost as expensive.(at least with this guy) From what I've seen on his other videos. I was told I would need a sinus lift for upper implants. I am not clear if it would be the same for minis.
@wolfhybred the reason for the plate is because the denture is implant supported not implant retained. To the degree that the plate is removed is the degree that more of the stress is transferred to the mini implant. Because they are mini implants, they would be more likely to break. Matter of fact , the F.D.A approved these mini implants for permanent use but they define permanent use as for one year. I wouldn't trust these things , just another way for a dentist to make money
@wolfhybred I agree with wolf. If this costs 51k , i would rather do the one in the video entitled Full upper teeth replacement. No plate. Any thoughts Dr Shatkin.
please be sure to post the video of you removing the mini implants when they break. You'd have just as much longevity using toothpicks as implants. It's an absoute shame what the dental industry ,yes industry has become.

One of the BEST ways to drive potential patients AWAY from your practice and give them good reason NOT to schedule an appointment is to show them scary photos and videos of clinical procedures.
Personally, I could not even finish watching this video in its entirety because of the gore it promised.
People want to visualize themselves with healthy, attractive teeth. Dentists miss the mark by thinking the public is interested in the mechanics behind the smile.
Well, no matter what you think, some doctors put these procedures on youtube BECAUSE , after this, people are better informed about them and some do like to get the procedure done without getting too scared.
I myself am in need of some serious dental work. The work itself is going to be extensive. The reason is due to a medical issue that will be present my whole life. I will have to get dentures sooner than i hoped. Either way having these pictures and video's helps people like myself understand all the options and what we can expect. These video's are to show how easy and painless the procedure is. Ease's dental anxiety.
As a new denture wearer, I found this video VERY useful. i have heard about MDI and wondered rather they would alleviate my problems. this video along with others have helped me to decide to have this procedure done top and bottom ASAP
So when you have appendicitis, need a new hip replacement, or need to have a cleft palate repaired, you don't have the procedure done because YOU can NOT stand the gore? That's why there are surgeons and you are clueless about how it can improve life.
I am having this done in 2 weeks, I wonder if they give you pain meds for a day or so to recover? I know getting the dentures was extremely painful for me, and I always have a lot a pain after any dental work.
bone pain is the worst pain, so healing from these will take several weeks if you heal very fast and upto 6 months to heal. I would assume that a perscription pain killer would be perscribed in addition to a anti-inflamitory drug
@chifour66 Did you get it done? what was the cost? did it hurt?how long did it take to heal? I'm thinking about this Procedure, but really unsure at this point.
@DEEPTHROAT36 I didn't end up getting it done. I am finally doing it in a few weeks, but I had a lot of health problem last year and had to put it off. It is VERY expensive to have the All on Fours done, ranging from around $40,000-$60,000 for both upper and lower plates. It's very hard to find doctors that are experienced in this exact procedure, and I am unsure still about the pain and heal time. However, next to having each tooth individually implanted, which is more expensive, this is it.
@DEEPTHROAT36 Yes, I had it done. The teeth look fantastic. I didn't end up getting it done as planned, I ended up having a personal emergency and had to wait until this year. It is expensive, I ended up paying $51,000, however, I was able to finance all but about $2,000. It was painful, but maybe not as bad as I expected. The after pain wasn't unbearable, but due to the massive changes in my mouth, it probably took me longer to recover than most people. Good luck whatever you do!
DP did you use mini implants for dentures? Paresh B Patel DDS says it should cost $650 to $1200 per implant almost half the price of normal implants. Even if you had 12 total mini implants at $1200 thats 24k, then the cost of the dentures. Im sure the dentures didnt cost 27k.
@BobT427 The procedure I had done, the all on 4, was around $26,000 PER BRIDGE. So with the upper and lower bridge, it cost me around $53,000, with x-rays and whatnot added. I am 5 mos into wearing them, and while I would have loved to do individual implants, the time it would have entailed was much, much longer. Plus, at about 2,500 per tooth, it would have been much more expensive. If you can do one or two at a time, then that's the way to go, but I needed teeth, ASAP. Good luck.
