Nvidia is better currently ATi is, sure their drivers are better and they have better customer service but ATi gives raw power imo.

TBH I'm just coming from an opinion side, I had had nvidia cards, I have had a build with hd 4870 and gts 250 for physx only and it worked wonders.

@MrFrederiktorp its not because its a 5000 that its better than 4000... look for the 3 last digit .. 5570 would be like a 4570 which is very weak .. + the 5570 run 128mb and the 4850 is a 256 mb ... and yea theres some 4850 running on ddr5 Sapphire are making their 4850 on ddr5 look on newegg.com . the 5570 is a crap low end card if you want something to game start with the 5770 a least.

the 4850 perform almost like a 5830 or 5850 but the main different its the 5000 cards are directx11.

yes it does i installed crysis on vista and it crashed alot!! BUT NOTE THIS: Vista had directx10 when XP on ly has directx9 and directx9 doesnt allow you to play on veryhigh settings in crysis its just not supported

people who say we see the world at 30fps are wrong. It varies person to person. However testing games with high fps, one can definitely tell the difference between 30 fps and 60fps...

same with 60fps and 120fps.--you just tend to notice it less and less as the frame rate increases.

I heard the "trained eye" can see up to around 130 something, which I actually believe to be close to the max threshold

to be honest I enjoy crysis as long as I can get an average fps of 25-27.

not sure but its possible that its caused by lack of memory on your card. xp is never a bottleneck, directx9 should run this game with higher frame rate than dx10. I runned crysis at very high details on 1280x1024 with my 1gb hd4850 under directx10 without any problems at all. but still, get windows 7, your machine will run it just fine, and you'll be able to use full potential of hd4850

We do not see things in frames, so there is no actual answer.

We see light patterns, which then are (in computer terms) decoded into images.

It all depends on how fast the light is "flickering", and not how many frames it uses.

The faster it flickers, the less we will see it. (And vice versa)

Once the light is flickering at 60Hz, we tend to see gray objects, instead of colored ones.

We can see roughly 160 FPS. (Wikipedia)

Killzone 2 and Uncharted 2 have the best graphics I have ever seen!

So an old game like Crysis has been duplicated graphic wise, just not physic wise. (But now that nVidia PhysX is out on the consoles, it should be, if not already is, equal to Crysis)

Crysis runs on high at around 80 fps.

What fps do you get?

Well I has the same proccesor you have & I change to Phenom II 920 and a XFX Radeon HD 4850 1gig 4 gigs ddr 2 800 of ram on vista 32 bits and fps are 50-65 on very high settings all maxed out.

More cpu ghz = more faster video game. When I change both cpu & videocard I use the optimal settings. The game scan automatically all the hardware and put all settings on very high. Im not OC anything & Not crossfire

But I found using anti-asling to max brings more faster & smooth gameplay.

yes you can but be careful because the settings can conflict with the settings of the game. I recommend use in game settings.

& if you gonna change the cpu I recommend to you a phenom II. You no gonna have no problem with ati central.

Well you can't tell the diffrence of fps abouve 30fps in crysis. So if you are getting more than that you could change the graphics settings to get better quality. I play at around 27fps and up with my settings.
