  • Beyond fantastic.

  • First heard Commie Tipton play this in this tuning back in 1961 at his home up in the Smokies. Wish I knew what happened to him and his banjer.

  • Fantastic.

  • Jeff how did I miss this tuning ?? Great tune and wonderful tone with the strings as I said a year ago !! Magic with the fifth at G though ..Happy New Year , Guy

  • Great tone, great playing. That B part is really lovely.

  • That's a great rendition, can you tell me where you learned it, or is it your own?

  • I came up with this after listening to Titanius1066 play his version. Took a few liberties here and there to kinda make it a little more mine. Thanks for watching,

    ~~~~~~Jeff
  • damn...beautiful as always!!
  • What great tone on the Lone Star and I love the softer sound of the gut strings . Great playing as always . Yours in Connecticut , Guy
  • Always great to hear from you Guy, I value your opinions immensely,
    All the best from NC, ~~~~Jeff
  • Bravo! I'm burning every banjo in my house and take up something I can play.
  • LOL, that's funny. Thanks for the comment.~~~~~~~~~~Jeff
  • *Amazed
  • I like the tempo - not lightening fast and that's part of why your playing has lots of character to me. Is that in G capoed up to A? and is that some kind of trigger or shubb capo?
  • Thanks for watching and commenting. For the tuning just start in G and tune up the second string from B to C. This is sometimes referred to as G Modal. Then capo up two frets. The capo I'm is a Shubb.
    Hope that helps, ~~~~~~~Jeff
  • @josborne26 Great playing as always! So it's being played in A modal without capoing the 5th string to A? Sorry if that is confusing
  • @shal0mnurh0me Not confusing at all. You have it right. Tuning is A modal with the 5th string at G.~~~~~~~~Jeff
  • Nice old time pluckin there.
  • Thank you sir, I appreciate the comment. By the way, I really do like your version of The Blackest Crow. Jeff
  • I tried 'em once, and got to like the mellow sound. But then I began to miss the brighter sound of metal strings and I switched back. Obviously, I need several more banjos.
  • Nice playing! You're getting a great sound out of those nylon strings.
  • Thanks Chris. It take's a while to get the nylon strings stretched out to the point that they stay in tune. I like the sound, so, it's worth the extra effort. Jeff
  • Brilliant playing Jeff. its Joe mac here from B.H.O.
  • Hi Joe, good to hear from you. Thanks for watching. Jeff
  • As wonderful as all your videos, Josborne26.
  • Thank you Acell, that's kind of you to say so. Jeff
