Struts and sway bars do make a difference! It may not be a huge difference but it is very noticable. It prevents the car from understeering. Nice video.
I've had Eibach sway bars in he past and was very pleased. I'm glad someone finally put up a before and after video so that we can all see how dramatically the handling improved. Have you done any further upgrades?
the biggest difference I can see is it more responsive in turning and the tire squeal is now a chirp. Chirping generally mean more uniform and greater surface contact of the tires.
You get best handling results per $ from sway bars...remember if you fit larger bar to front may have to fit bar to rear as stiffest end of car breaks away first
Hey, I have a question. I have a 2001 Trans Am and I want to use the eibach pro kit, but do you think I should just spend the extra $200 to get the Pro System Plus? and would I bee needing anything else besides the parts that come in the package? Besides alignment.
Sway bars are honestly overrated unless you can seriously feel it in the steering wheel, this video pretty much proves it with brand name sway bars you still have body roll.. If you really want to improve the handle a good set of coilovers are defiantly the way to go. Fully adj so you can have it stock height even but with the stiff race spring and racing shocks.
@tegracer523 oh shut up take the sways off your car and tell us then how "overrated" they are. he was showing us in this video, with all other variables the same, how a good set of sways effects the cars body roll. of course coilovers will do a better job but even they by themselves arent as efficent as both teamed together. but dollar for dollar these are a great mod...
Haha... this is completely biased... you probably feel the difference in the handling, but visually, there isn't much difference in the two. The only way you may see any difference visually is if you have stiffer, lowered springs and different tires/wheels. Can't get that by merely changing out sway bars. Good effort and upgrade, tho.
woah, big difference! thanks for putting the video toghether! i have a 95 240sx base that didn't come with a rear sway bar, i got a sway bar off a compatible car (20mm) and i'll be installing it soon. i was planning on modifying it by welding a straight hollow tube to increase the rigidness of the bar from end to end. this will help due to the fact that my car is Front engine Rear wheel drive and will be used for drifting.
also, whats the diameter of the sway bars you used?
What's the effect on the turning radius of the car, after installing the sway bar? Wouldn't not-so-stiff bars would let you corner without losing the grip?
@mamatalu The sway bar can improve turn in and help the rear rotate around more, provided the rear bar stiffness is increased more than the front bar stiffness. I never tracked the Acura, so I can't really say how much of a difference the bars made when driving the car at the limit. But for street use, they made it feel nice, and would actually oversteer some, which I generally prefer.
@bigdo26 I live in a fairly hilly region, with lots of winding roads that continuously go up and down. Driving at high speeds on these curves is so much fun, but at the same time, I feel like car is going to topple. I was wondering if I should install stiff sway bars or actually, install less stiff than stock, so that I can follow the road curves at high speed?..2000 Honda Accord SE - total stock
@mamatalu With less stiff sway bars, you'll get more body roll. In a 2000 accord, you probably have a good amount of body roll already, decreasing that would make the car feel more responsive. Imagine driving a Grand Marquis vs a Honda S2000 - the Grand Marquis has a softer suspension and huge amount of body roll, whereas the S2000 has minimal body roll and a tight suspension. The S2000 will be much more rewarding to drive in corners. I went from my TL to an Audi S4 and the S4 is much more fun!
@mamatalu for quicker respond , Rear sway bar is a big improvement. Using a Strut bar(Front strut tower bar) to tighten up the front end will help a lot. If that is not good enough, you can always upgrade to stiffer struts shocks and lowering springs. Lowering springs means eibach pro kit, DONT CUT YOUR STOCK SPRING TO HALF.
Dude, this is the most uncontrolled unreliable comparison ever. Way too many variables. No one in their right mind should use this as a valid comparison. Kudos on the effort.
Nice Vid hey "bigdo26" i wanna buy the Pro System Plus from Eibach for my TL-S but i have a doubt. Would i need the camber kit? Or the stock ones can handle the 1.5in drop??? I really need to know to order everything.
@skirmich I believe you do need to adjust the camber. Never dropped the Acura, and I sold it ~2 years ago, so don't really recall too much about the suspension details. Onto faster cars now (Audi S4 twin turbo ;)
what the hell are you doing? that is not how you test sway bars. you test them in a corner, when you shift a car left to right you are transferring weight to fast and the sway bars are not working, and by the way you need an alignment. NEXT TIME TEST THEM IN A CIRCLE GOING THE SAME SPEED.
How would the sway bars not work when turning left to right? So you're saying that if I were to bring my car to a track, with left and right turns, then the sway bars wouldn't do anything? Riiiight..... Their purpose is to decrease roll, so no matter what kind of turn (quick, long sweeping, etc) you do, they are always 'working.' If you have a better video comparison, please share for the 9000+ people who have viewed mine (and found it helpful!)
@PamaPower1 I don't recall if the Eibach bars were smaller diameter than stock, but they were solid instead of hollow... makes a big difference! Thx for the comment
you guys might laugh but i dont care, im trying to install a sway bar from a 67 mustang on my civic, i only need to drill a sum of 8 holes lol. but its from my old 67 so i need to keep its spirit alive somehow since some drunk driver killed it while it was parked.
i cant wait to get mine. I'm putting Megan Racing coilovers on Eibach dampers. Should make a big difference on my 95 'Teg. Tell me, do you think i should get a rear strut bar too, or do i need just a front...?
what made you want to go with the Eibachs? I have a WRX and i'm thinking about getting some, simply for the price. the other name brands are a good $100 more for the front and rear set...and I know Eibach makes some quality stuff
i test drove a 2007 bmw 325xi, it handles better that our tl's, but our tl's have so much more power. and for 37,000 i wasn't that impressed. i am in love with my 2002 tl type s, but i dont like the not so good handling, i only have 52,000 miles on mine. and this is my 3rd tl. i think there must be something i can do to help the body roll. please let me know. i am an acura lover for life!!!!!!!!!1
I don't get the feeling that the rear is trying to slide out (oversteer). The sway bars significantly reduce the body roll in my car, and the car has a more 'crisp' response. To further improve handling, upgrade your struts/springs.
does it feel like your ass end wants to pass you? i put these on my car and it helped in body roll, but it still doesn't feel stable on some corners. i think my 92 accord did better on corners! maybee there is some other things i can do to help the body roll.
great video. thanks for contributing this.

theonlyzamora70 7 months ago
@theonlyzamora70 what does improved handling have to do with the type of transmission he has?

@BrownMan59 as with an automatic you cant control revs making it less fun to corner with,,,
