Even though the game was short (it is a shooter after all), it didn't feel that way when I played it. Alway found something new to do and tried new tactics to improve my score and time. I honestly didn't find the enironments dull. They looked hauntingly beautiful. My only complaint was the controls. They needed to be more responsive. Even though it took awhile, I finally got the Ultimate Suit. This game needs a sequel but that's never going to happen.
@TheronInc Aber du machst das wirklich gut! :) Ich bin sehr pingelich bei Reviews, aber deine gefallen mir, du kannst das! :) Schoen brav weitermachen! :D
I was frustrated with this game after a few plays. I tried getting rid of it buy selling at my local store.. they wouldn't buy it. When I said I'd donate it, they said that they would just toss it in the garbage. Well, I took it back home and upon seeing this review, the later levels actually look a little interesting. I'll give it another chance. The power of reviews, eh??
I only played the demo when i was a kid but i loved it. I hope they make another one of these games and improve it. I think this game has a lot of potential.
For a first review it left me satisfied. Thats how a review should be. Well done.
And for this game: I had it like maybe 4 or 5 years ago (not sure I was young at the time) and I enjoyed it mostly cause of the upgrading. Not for everyone but a good game if you know what to look for.
It's nice to see P.N.03 getting the love it deserves, it had style. A lot of people love, a lot of people hate it, and most people have never heard of it. But I doubt anyone has played this game and not had much of an opinion either way.
Englisch ist sowas wie ein Steckenpferd für mich, zumal man hier auf Youtube ja auch weitaus mehr Menschen damit erreichen kann. Außerdem komme ich so nicht aus der Übung. XD
Actually, Mikami's new game Vanquish reminds me of PN03, in some ways. It's also a 3rd person shooter with a more action game like nature, the suit of the main character has all kinds of neat tricks and even the futuristic aesthetics are a bit similar. It seems like it's the game many thought PN03 would be (which turned out to be a kind of shoot 'em up/action game hybrid, like you said in the review instead of a somewhat more traditional 3rd person shooter)
Yes, it's true that the aesthetics are totally reminiscent of P.N.03, but I don't know...it's still too early to jump to conclusions about Vanquish, but the debut trailer didn't impress me that much except with its polished looks. It appears to be just another one of those "supersoldier vs. enemies of the state"-games. But maybe the gameplay will make up for the plot in a similar way P.N.03 did.
There was new information about the game in today's Famitsu. In it Mikami pretty much confirms that he understands making a basic 3rd person cover-shooter like Gears of War etc. would be a big waste of everyone's time. It 's fast, has emphasis on close combat, a boost-move and the suit has some other neat tricks like transforming weapons. I'd say it's what PN03 "should" have been for it to become a bigger success and not the kind of niche game it turned out to be (a good one at that, though)
I saw a few screens yesterday. Looks like it won't have multiplayer, which sounds somewhat promising, as it means they're really focusing on the campaign. It would be great if they included evasion of enemy fire as a gameplay component similar to P.N.03 as well. Too bad it won't feature Vanessa Z. Schneider, but that's another story.^^
Yeah I know I confused Mikami with Kamiya I realized that later XD, but I would'nt be surprised if one inspired another because they have worked together in Clover and in Platinum games.
I should get a gamecube or wii to play this game. I never played it myself, but it looks fun...and if anything, if a game is being made by Capcom, you know it's going to be good 9 times out of 10.
Though, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom and RE: Darkside Chronicles for the Wii got some decent critic ratings. Along with that, there was an announcement of Megaman 10 for WiiWare.
Yea, you definitely should. I played this game years ago, and I can tell you it's a blast, chewing through the enemies gets really addicting, the moves are far out, and if your'e a guy, Vanessa is eye candy the whole time, I loved it.
Those are some great points you have there. However, I don't agree with you on the d-pad, when it fails I know I haven't pushed the buttons properly. Also, you can input a command WHILE shooting, you need to let go of the A button and THEn input a command.
Also, a whole review without even mentioning her fat ass? I'm impressed! :-)

Nice review. Played that game over at a friend`s house back in the day! I think the concept would benefit a lot from today`s technology.
Cheers
PS: How come you`re playing the German version? :)
PauloEifel 1 year ago
Thanks! Yeah, Shinji Mikami should cancel his new project and make a remake of P.N.03 instead! =D
Well, I'm Austrian, so I play the majority of my games in my mother tongue, except for imports or games where I prefer the original localization.

Dann Hut ab, Meister! Sprichst echt`n sauberes Englisch! Vor allem die Wortwahl finde ich erstaunlich für jemanden, der`s erst als 2. Sprache hat!

Oh Shinji Mikami, so that explains the resemblance with Bayonetta!
blindreaper21 1 year ago
Not really, because Shinji Mikami didn't have anything to do with Bayonetta. I think you're mixing him up with Hideki Kamiya there. =)

Yeah, you should definitely try it! Gamecubes are not that expensive, so that's a good opportunity to catch on to the classics of this system.
Well, I think Capcom aren't as good as they used to be, so I guess your rule only applies to their older games.^^

Yes. Though about Capcom nowadays:

I'd give it a 8/10. It had the potencial. But nobody played it just like Psychounauts, by the way have you played it if not buy it NOW!!!
raikiriboss 2 years ago
Yes, it had - would've needed a sequel to unfold its full capabilities (just like Assassin's Creed II recently did^^).
Although I really enjoyed Grim Fandango, I skipped Psychonauts for some reason. I think I should check it out soon, though.

The D-pad is still flimsy, though.
I'd rather input these commands on the C-stick. And yes, you can input commands while shooting, but when it doesn't work out as expected, it sucks.^^
Well, yeah...
I just didn't feel the need to state the obvious, but now that you mention it, let's clarify it once again: her ass is DELICIOUS!!!~ XD
