  • i dropped my phone and its blury when i turn it on and its stuffed the screen!

  • THIS GUY SUCK I KILL MY CELLPHONE CUZ THIS VIDEO

  • Thanks! It helped me out a ton.

  • Thanks for the video! I just replaced my digitizer and it went really easy following your video! Only trouble I had was that my digitizer was much harder to remove as it was not cracked as severely and I couldn't break it into many pieces! I also had to take my phone apart twice because I got a smudge on the inside of the glass.. oops! so be sure to clean the inside of the digitizer before you put the phone back together!

  • looks complicated

  • @69pointdexter it's not that bad if you just watch the video pausing it as you do each step. I just replaced mine and it looks like new!

  • The moment when I realized "Why I am watching this" (I dont have the phone xD)

  • i cant seem to fing a screen online anywhere, my girlfriend dropped it when someone bumped into her and i went strait online and yet i still cant find one :( can someone please poast a link please

  • @TheLazloindahouse just search "Droid Eris Digitizer" on amazon

  • @GDLutz i couldnt find it

  • @TheLazloindahouse Here is the link to the one I am ordering since i broke my digitizer today. just replace the "DOT" wit "." and paste into your browser. youtube won't allow links in comments.

  • @GDLutz thank you

  • @TheLazloindahouse No problem. My new digitizer should arrive tomorrow, I'm so ready to get my Eris back working!!

  • @GDLutz i have to buy the l.e.d. for my phone also i have 4 months left and i cant break the contract unless i wana pay $420

  • Do not use super glue, it causes a white discoloration of the glass.

  • I agree, I bought a T6 After seeing this... Dude your a DUMB ass

  • The size is a T5. A T6 will not work.

  • Wow- just followed your advice; phone works much better now! Thank you so much!

  • I just got one for $19.48 including shipping. Torx are available at Home Depot.

  • I just got one for $19.48 including shipping.

  • For my Droid Eris I needed a T5 torx driver, not T6. For those looking for a torx kit, I got one at Harbor Freight for $8.

  • I just ordered one for 23.00 with 4.00 shipping.. Thought it was a god deal on ebay hope it arrives with zero issues..Hope this helps

  • Thanks Dude! You saved some serious dough!

  • @drekevans, @LadyLuckFilms It was a year ago when I got the digitizer from eBay. Now it should be way cheaper than what I paid. You can check the current price on eBay by searching like "Digitizer HTC Eris".

  • How much does the replacement screen cost?

  • @skittlegirlholly about how much did the replacement screen cost

  • Thank you! This saved me $100!!!! You are the best.

  • This is gonna save me $100 thanks!

  • Hello, i was wondering if you could help me out. I dropped my Droid incredible and now i have a black screen. On closer inspection i can see that there are cracks now running across what appears to be the inner LCD screen not the glass itself. Screen now lights somewhat and I can see purple inky marks within. Could you please tell me what part that means i will need to replace? Im confused, thanks!

  • @jeweledwonders The digitizer (touch screen) which I fixed in this video, is a clear glass plane *on top of* the LCD screen. (At around 3:40, the left is digitizer and the right is LCD.) Even if you break the digitizer, you could still see the screen underneath if you didn't break the LCD screen. So, It sounds like you broke the LCD screen.

As long as the digitizer is not broken, I think all you need to replace at this point is the LCD screen .

  • @skittlegirlholly Thanks a heap. I guess I figured that out AFTER I messaged you :D

I had my phone in a hardcase, I guess it dropped at just the right angle, oh well.

    Great video btw!

  • I drop my phone all the time, doesn't look that shitty.

  • nice video man thanks

  • Successful the first time. Thanks for a good video.

  • this was so helpful, i just did this to my phone and it still works! thank you so much!

  • Can you please add a note to clean BOTH sides of the new glass! I now have to take mine apart to do so!

  • Thank you!!!

  • Thanks skittle girl! It worked! One part was a little different on the screen I received - after replacing the LCD, my connector didn't have the sticker or glue on the thing you adhere first. I just glued it onto the back of the LCD with regular glue and it worked just fine!

  • Thanks for the video. I just finished it!

  • "wow dad you know everything" haha thanks for the video...

  • Thanks a bunch. Your video was great. I wouldn't have tried it, until I saw your video. I have 3 months to go to trade up for a knew phone. The broken screen made it unusable. I hated the thought of spending $100 for a replacement phone. I bought the digitizer for $28 on Ebay. You saved me $73 bucks by not buying a replacement phone. Now I have to text my last words before the world ends. :)

  • I have an HTC touch pro 2! 1 second im texting, the next the screen stops responding to touch! Im pissed!!!

  • you are awesome! had a broken htc forever, was usongban lg ally but it got wet so i decided to go back to the htc bc it was a simpler fix. i just put in the new digitizer and managed to do the entire job with the help of your video, at the library ajd without a pry tool. my phone was super retarded and impossible to use before but nowbit works perfect and like new! in fact i'm writing on it now! thanks again :D

  • lol. nobandaid on finger to bandaid.XD 4:24

  • @thenunez96 Lol! At the end, I got three cuts on my fingers! I've got to learn how to properly use pry tool so that I don't have to hurt myself. XD

  • @skittlegirlholly lol,but do u realy like that phone.ive gone through 2 and cant stand it at all.its too slow.

  • I was skatting and just broke mine! :(

  • Thank you! This seemed daunting at first, but worked like a charm. I gently used a small flat head screwdriver instead of a pry tool.

  • Thank you! This seemed daunting at first, but it worked like a charm.

  • A razor blade is helpful to remove the glass pieces. As far as the pry tool if you don't get one you can just use your nails. Make sure after you glue the digitizer in you wipe the back of it off with acetone (nail polish remover) or you'll have finger prints you can't get off. Also I was able to get the torx head screws with a regular phillips head. You mess up the screws a bit but they're not torqued tight. How many times are you gonna take the phone apart anyway? Great video!!

  • @skittlegirlholly THANK YOU!!! I had broken my touch screen and was so pissed off as the phone was only a month old! Ive had the worse luck with breaking screens and in the past kept replacing very expensive phones. This time I was determined to fix this myself for less than $40. tools included! (Thank you ebay) I watched your video a few times before actually doing it...your instructions were excellent. The only thing I forgot was to clean the new screen! I had to take it apart again!!

  • It worked, thank you so much for making this guide and saving my phone. God bless you!

  • I got the screen but the digitizer chip had no glue. any tips? The screen still doesn't work.

  • where did u get the screen & how much

  • Thanks for your video. I had a broken screen on my droid eris and was able to take a good screen off of a broken eris and swap it with the bad one. I bought a set of precision screw drivers at Home Depot for $4.88 and used a whittled wooden popsicle stick as a pry tool. Had to whittle the end from time to time to get it to work.

  • to much work, lol just keep insurance

  • I just finished and the touch screen only works on the right side; the left side of the touch screen doesn't work at all. Any suggestions?

  • I followed these steps and put everything back together nicely, but the screen doesn't work. The buttons work, the LCD works but the touch screen doesn't. I reopened it 2 times to make sure I did everything right and still nothing. Could it be something I did wrong or is the digitizer that is defective?

  • When my screen cracked I was actually happy that I would have the chance to take my phone apart and install a new screen. Your video was a great guide and I referenced it to check my progress quite a bit. The only thing I will say is that you need a t5 driver, the t6 is a little too big. Thank you for putting this together.

  • I would like to know where you found the replacement digitizer for the Droid Eris. I'm looking for one that has the best deal.

  • Thanks dude this was a big help. I cut my hand taking the broken digitizer off but the repair was pretty easy after watching this video.

  • Excellent step by step guide. One point: about 6 minutes in, when replacing the mother board, there is a tiny alignment pin next to the headphone jack that must pass through the motherboard in order to seat properly. It's next to the screw hole on board. Took me several minutes to see what was holding the board off the chassis.

  • where can i get the digitizer and how much does it cost?

  • @lxerose I got mine off ebay for 35 bucks shipped.

  • @TheFachen oh hell that's how much I paid for my phone. I'll just hang on to my cracked phone until the fall when it's time to upgrade, already put up with it for a year as it is.

  • Thank you sooo much man you are a life saver well actually a money saver.

  • I left the padding in the digitizer frame rather than scraping & cleaning all the sticky stuff out, just made sure it was level and not lumpy. Used Gorilla >super< glue, its a little more flexible than regular super glue.

  • Awesome video, helped me fix mine. Thank you!

  • T6 Note, the torx driver provided with my new digitizer did not fit. I bought a set at Radio Shack that included a *T6* and that did not fit either! A small flatblade screwdriver that fits snugly between two of the six torx screwhead points worked for me. In case you need it for something else, Home Depot has 'Husky' mini driver set that includes a T5 for about 15 bucks.

  • @dmlutz2 Thanks for the notes! I've read that T5 works on Eris before, so I got Husky's Torx driver set which includes T5, since the set is the only option at my local Home Depot. When I started, I found out that T5 didn't fit the screws on my device! So I switched to T6 and it worked perfectly. Some people say T5 fits better, so it might be depending on your phone device.

  • IS THERE A WAY TO JUST REPLACE THE GLASS SCREEN FROM THE TOP WITHOUT GOING THRU THIS WHOLE PROCESS?

  • @andavideo Unfortunately I don't think you can do it without going through this since you need to connect the connector from the glass screen (digitizer) to the phone's main board (the green board) which you can see at 6:46.

  • the ribbon that connects the LCD screen to the phone got cut..........this can't be good

  • I got my replacement digitizer today, but it didn't come with the tools. The only tool I'm worried about not having is the pry tool. Is there something else I can use instead?

  • @frostbyte32 How about a thin guitar pick? I think a nylon guitar pick which is thin and hard might work just like the nylon pry tool that I got.

  • @skittlegirlholly I walked into my IT guys office today and he had a complete Apple repair kit sitting open. It had a pry tool in it and a bunch of screw drivers that he said should do the trick. So he said I can borrow those...I'll let you know how the repair goes.

  • Thank you for making this video! I was able to fix my phone without any problems :D

  • after replacing the digitizer i ran into a huge problem. The touch screen works fine now but whenever i dial a number and then press send the phone shuts down and will not turn back on until i pull the battery..anyonme have any ideas why?

  • Where can I find the glass replacement???.

  • @edgago The glass replacement is called "Digitizer" or "Touch Screen" and you can find it online.

  • GREAT VIDEO. You also saved me from buying a new phone. I was going to have a pro do it but they didn't have any screens. Also, the screen protector advice was great. I put it on my phone until the new digitizer came. I didn't have any Goo Gone so I used Tea Tree oil to remove the adhesive. Thank YOU!

  • I purchased a new screen and followed along with your video. I was able to replace the screen with no problems. Thanks for posting, you're the greatest!

  • Thank you so much for posting this. BTW, you need a T5 screw.

  • I can't thank you enough for posting this, it saved me from buying a new phone when my screen broke, thank you SO much. : )

  • @weshywilma My pleasure. XD

  • Where can I get the T6 and T5 Torx screwdrivers and the pry tool from? I've ordered the replacement digitizer but it doesn't come with the tools. Thanks for posting :-)

  • @britcop150 Retailers of home improvement such as Lowe's, OSH and Home Depot might have them.

  • where can you buy i new digitizer and about for how much?

  • @repraptor I got mine from eBay but you can find some places which sell the digitizer online. The price varies, the range is about $50-$99 (mine was $60).
