this and the other youtube video on laotian fried chicken looks nothing like the fried chicken my mom makes or the ones that the lao vendors sell here. maybe different regions of laos cook it differently? not used to seeing it with so much crispy flour (the kfc look).
@Tampabruh Once cooked.. You really don't notice the oyster taste. I hate Oysters and I cook with Oyster sauce with almost every asian meal I make. Believe it or not when you goto a Chinese place to eat.. Most things like chickens, noodles, etc has Oyster sauce.. It also really doesn't taste that much like Oysters.
msg is in everything get over it. if this world had no msg then we shouldn't have other chemicals and ingredients that are harmful but so great in a way shall we?
I'm not a fan of cheating in recipes by dumping in MSG (since it makes everything taste good), but MSG isn't some mystery chemical-it's just a form of glutamate, an amino acid that makes stuff taste good. You'll find it naturally in lots of stuff, including Worcestershire sauce (and A1 sauce), meat, eggs, milk, seaweed and lots of other things. For a healthy person, using MSG is no different than eating a steak with A1 sauce since our bodies and brain actually need glutamate to function.
As a follow up to my previous post, I just want to add that this doesn't mean that some people shouldn't avoid it. People who have nerve problems (seizures, headaches, etc.) should probably stay away since unhealthy neurons may not be properly dealing with glutamate. And even healthy people shouldn't eat too much MSG since you'd be eating an obscene amount of sodium. Also, it seems that using MSG can make people fat probably because it makes everything taste better. Just don't be too paranoid.
I agree. MSG is in the beef jerky you buy at the stores too. Just read the labels. Almost every food with flavor has it. Restaurants that claim they have no MSG is definitely lying if they use oystersauce, steak sauce, etc.
Surely the chicken doesn't cook for 30-45 minutes, does it? I think that's what the caption said, but it might be a mistake. I thought chicken legs and thighs take about 12-15 minutes when deep fried.
Kai. ... i made this last night with your instant stir fry. .. oh my. .. it was so delicious!! Easy. .. and fast. Great video with excellent instructions.
it stands for mono sodium glutamate. It's a type of sodium that enhance the flavor of anything you put it in. interesting thing about it is that it doesn't have a salty taste for a sodium. it actually has an opposite taste of it.
what is this song called?? :-)

MSG??? Are you crazy? Such chemicals shouldn't be in the food. This is toxic for the nervous system. Probably it tastes like shit without MSG.

mmm, fried chicken. also, if you don't want to eat MSG, never eat meat, mushrooms, or most green vegetables.
jordanmattes 4 years ago
Is the MSG really needed?
RickyTomatoes 4 years ago
it definitely taste better with it. just don't use too much of it. Some of the people I know believe that it can cause balding hair.
