@mikesmith1587 Unsure, but I used this setup for a gig recently (though a 800watt PA). The PA's eq was flat and its power amp was on full. I got a great snappy sound with vocals going though the same PA.
@mikesmith1587 O, also I dont like the ME50's reverb much anymore. Its too dark sounding. The compressor idea (for extra overdrive) also is a little old. These days I prefer a better OD pedal like the MXR Zakk wylde or my BOSS superoverdrive
@kill40001000 Nope. Zero is correct. The OD/DS stage acts as an "tube style" clean output stage. I then boost the input signal using the compressor. This pushes the Blue Driver to distort in a more "old school" way.
Great one dude... i have BOSS me-50 .. could you please TELL ME that how to CONNECT my guitar To PC/Laptop... and which all Software i will be needing in the computer !
I love the sound, but I can't get it working for me...
Everytime I crank up the compressor for example my amp is buzzing like there a freaking nest of bees inside. The sound gets to noisy, also with your other videos on the satriany or metal settings for example. It can't be due to my amp, it's an old marshall VS 100 Valvestate, but in great shape!
that tone is spot on lad i just bought the me50 a few days ago and my band (Under The Gun) are coverin Highway to hell so cheers for settins n all! :)
@zaitmidemha Wish I could, but Ive never played a ME25 before. It all pretty simple. I just try every possible settings. Choose one riff like "back in black", then record it using as many settings as possible. Then play it back while walking around the house. You will stumble across the sounds eventually.
@rockfreak611 Cool. I think there is one note at the end that is incorrect, but its close enough. I learnt it years ago and never really spent much time on it. These days with mediaplayer supporting half speed playback, It should be easy to get it 100% correct. God bless same-pitch half-speed playback!
@nikos4tw um. thats direct into the PC, so, no amp. For live work I use either my Legacy Hammerhead, JCM900 or my 5150 II. Sometimes I run two amps though my marshall quad box in stereo. I use the BOSS ME 50 to split my guitar signal before feeding the amps. But, these videos are just the ME50's headphone out jack.
@ibanez777vbk Cool thanks. There are no tricks here. I didn't use my tascam us122 for sampling. I just used the PC's standard mike input. There are no more effects added after the ME50. All the settings are documented. I do these videos because Im also sick of people posting videos without settings or videos that suck. Hopefully people benefit from these tones. I beleive there are better settings, but at least these are a start. Plus, if you wanted a better tone, you can always add VST effects.
@TheSpitFireBand Id probably ask a DJ or look at what your favourite pub/venue uses. That way you get a kick ass music system as well. I wouldn't go mono. And some keyboard systems dont have seperate speakers. I'f you went down that path, I'd also look into GuitarRig 4 which sounds freakin awsome. But that said, in a band I find over processed tones a little off if everything else is a raw sound. So, it also depends on the sound of other members sounds. Thats just my view
@TheSpitFireBand Um. Not really, but basiclly you would look for the best quality loud hi-fi system. These days people are moving away from real tube amps to amp simulation hardware or software. I would look into a keyboard amp. But, they tend to be overpriced. A resonable vocal system is well below the cost of a guitar amp, but they tend to have channels you never use. or, you could look into a CD/MP3 audio system thats used for music venues.
@TheSpitFireBand Honistly. Id prefer a stock Marshall JCM900 or 800 live to get a rock sound. The Legacy Hammerhead/Epiphone Socal comes with a "thunder from downunder" setting which also sounds great. But, if you wanted to use a BOSS ME-50 live, Id go though a PA or a keyboard amp. The headphone output is basicly a line level CD eq'ed signal. Just plug into the pa.
Settings are in the description. If I was recording a track, Id switch of the modulation/delay and reverb on the BOSS and use VST effects in Reaper. Or, double track riffs like angus and malcom did.
Connect the ME50's headphone jack to the PC's microphone input. if you have a new-ish PC, then you should have a stereo mike input that support line levels. If not, then you will only get mono and the quality may be a little lower. I prefer my Tascam US-122, but I didn't want to use gear people may not have to test the ME-50.
Use this tone with your guitar turned down and lite palm muting. That gives you the illusion of "clean with dist".
You also need to use strategic "up picking" with the pick at an angle to get that hi end clicking on certain notes.
Sorry, I should have played that riff in the video. I dont like to play copyrighted riffs, but it seems youtube doesn't give a hoot, so I'll do that in future.
Btw, there is more information in the description of this video. Sing out if you need more information. I tried all OD/DS settings and this is as close as I can get to ACDC. Sing out if someone can beat it.
very nice tone!! how can connect direct to pc?

Hey dude, I have tried getting this tone out of my ME50 but it just sounds really flat and powerless. Any ideas on what I may be doing wrong?

Tone Modify: Type=H-S
Compressor: OFF Reverb: OFF
Overdrive: Type=BD-2 Drive=5 Bottom=10 Tone=7 Level=4.5
Modulation: Type=STCHORUS2 Rate=0 Depth=10 E.Level=10

I think the ME50's master sounds better on full.

Hey, my view is share and enjoy! i love great tones!
EpiphoneGear 2 years ago
can you tell me setting please?
BorgerDude 2 years ago
Of Course i will dude. But, I'll do it tommorrow morning, Sorry, because Im tired atm. Yea, this is a cool tone. very old school. I love it.
Im Glad you are interested in it :-)
EpiphoneGear 2 years ago
@BorgerDude
Tone Modify: Type=Presence
Compressor: Sustain=10 Level=10
Reverb: Hall
Overdrive: Type=BD-2 Drive=0 Bottom=10 Tone=10 Level=4.5
Modulation: Type=STCHORUS2 Rate=0 Depth=10 E.Level=10
Delay: Type=SpacePan Time=5 Feedback=0 E.Level=5
You can switch off the delay/reverb if you want or add more. It depends on if you prefer old ACDC or new ACDC.
The tone modify can also be set to "H-S" if you want a more modern rock tone. Try both settings.
