The South American fans are always great. Just listen to Rock In Rio or any recording from Brazil or any South American country.

Even when Iron Maiden started to lose populatiry in American and many placed in Europe(90's), they could still play in front of 65 000 south americans!

I have been going to concerts for 25 years, my 1st being AC/DC at Edinburgh Playhouse in 1986.

Living in Orkney meant that you went to less gigs but meant that the extra travel made it even more special plus you always met other people on route to the concert that you made freinds with.

On the other side I worked 25 miles from London 1989 - 1991. When I went to concerts there we were spoiled, great gigs every week. The crowd (myself included) were like okay show us what you've got.

i think its funny how bands sell out to make more money, even though it seems that in the long run not selling out actually sells more records. If maiden had sold out in the 80s, they'd probably be dead by now. Def Leapord, Glam. Sell-outs die in a few years. Maiden still has the respect of metal fans, and they don't switch to the next new fashion; they're not 1 hit wonders. That's why rap is going to out of of style in a few years. its sold out

I agree with you Jeffrey.

Def Leppard was also much more of a pop band, with lots of airplay. When you have that kind of success, it's tough to keep it going, and I think those kinds of bands tend to have a more passive fan base - when the hits stop, a certain number of fans will stop following.

Whereas, groups like Maiden, who are more dependent on what may be a smaller group of hardcore fans, tend to keep their fans longer.

Besides, as long as you're kicking serious ass, fans will stay.

One of the things I like about Iron Maiden is them themselves as people. They come across humble and genuine who still basically love playing. Although I'm sure the paycheque at the end spurs them on a bit.
