@hotman8994 Adu has the potential to be a great player along the likes of Donovan and Dempsey. It's just that he moved to Europe extremely young, never got any real playing time, and never matured fully as pro. He's not a lost cause, it's just that his skills stagnated. In the MLS he will get more playing time and develop his craft again. During the Gold Cup he showed that flash of magic against Panama in the Semi-Final, and he can do it again.
@hotman8994 Him and Stuart Holden will be a great charge in the center midfield. Donovan and Dempsey will be older, but it won't phase them much...if at all. Diego Forlan was 32 during last year's World Cup and lead his team to a 4th place finish. Zinedine Zidane was 34 when he pushed the French team to it's second World Cup final in 2006. Age is nothing, skill is what matters.
anybody think hes gonna be a star? or just a mediocre producer in the league. U.S. needs an infusion of young superstars. Hopefully Adu will be able to shine for us. We need it. Donovan and Dempsey are both getting older, can he replace them in the next generation?
@RagingDeeman LOL, this is coming from somebody in "New Zealand"? Again, LOL. What the hell player has your country produced? Or what the hell has your country accomplished (in general, let alone soccer)? Just continue being irrelevant.
Freddy Adu needs to go find a South American league (Bolivia? Somewhere most Americans wouldn't even be able to point out on the map) and just disappear already. He disgraced MLS his first time around and then stunk it up even more in Europe. Not to mention how terrible his tenure on the national team was
@fantasyexctasy I'm not from Philly and I don't even support Philadelphia Union, I just wanted to say "shut up" because you're making yourself look really stupid right now.
@bytesize Freddy Adu never really made the break through in Europe thats why he came back, otherwise he would have stayed in Europe. I think he just couldnt handle the pressure.
As a USMNT fan, I hope he can bounce back in club form. He showed us some sparks at the Gold Cup. He can show he's good enough in MLS to go back to Europe or at least Mexico (after all, he is not getting DP money). He did surprise me at Gold Cup and hope he is consistent.
The more players coming to MLS, the better! I don't care if people think Adu has already "reached his peak" or "was an overall letdown" (cut him a break, he's still 22), but he was a US hero to some, and a great overall athlete... And it's great to see these such sorts of players wanting to come to MLS.
@melojordans23 hes still shit lol he went and played for one of the worst teams in europe...and they sent him back to the pathetic MLS hahahaha he sucks, cant believe people thought he was guna be good
@RagingDeeman and who from NZ is any good? most of your WC team was semi-pros. not to mention you only made it to the WC because Australia moved to the Asian federation.
@RagingDeeman who said you did? but you wanna say he played for one of the worst teams in Europe and they sent him back to MLS...Benfica? you've gotta be kidding me if you think they're one of the 'worst teams in Europe'. they're not even close to being the worst in Portugal let alone, Europe. you're from NZ. that's why I brought it up. don't talk shit about a 22 year old who will be back in Europe in 2-3 years. Did you forget one of your best players CAME from MLS? Ryan Nelsen.
@ejyounggun08 you seem to care more about NZ football than i do mate, idgaf ! hahaha heres a quote for ya ignant american ass "you only made it to WC because Australia moved to the Asian federation" ... uhhh... YOU said i did douchebag. benfica are shit. freddy adu is the best footballer the USA ever produced and hes shit. ryan nelsen is also absolute SHIT. on the topic though best NZ footballer wyton rufer, all time world XV, oceania athlete of the century, european football legend. eat shit
@RagingDeeman i wasn't able to find anything about an All Time World XV, so i'll ignore that. but to say he's a European legend, is ridiculous. because he scored a few goals for Zurich, Aarau and Bremen doesn't mean anything. He had a .33 goal scoring percentage. Marcus Rosenberg has done better with Werder. and no one has every said Freddy is the best we've produced. i think most would argue that's Howard, Keller, Dempsey or Donovan. ask anyone. And Howard was Prem KoTY his first year with ManU
@ejyounggun08 i was just talkin shit, tryin to troll you.
their was so much hype around adu when he was younger...he was shit then and hasnt got any better. he belongs in the shit MLS with the shittest of the worlds players (bar thierry henry whos only there for the money and because coz he can still pwn some stupid american noobs before he retires) in the shittest country in the world. i just hate how much such a terrible player was hyped up and im holdin a grudge until everyone hates him LOL!
