I agree that Nolan and Bale redeemed Batman, but I don't think Spider-Man need to be redeemed and I don't think that the hired crew can do it.

Perhaps only the script writer (Zodiac), but not the director or rumored cast.

I was looking forward to Spider-Man 4, but now I'm not looking forward to this "redemption" thing.

What I love about this film is its ability to erase all political lines involved with this war. War is a constant struggle between men and is humanistic at its core. I personally struggle with accepting the war, and I feel that this film truly captures the torment for families at home, and the stress war puts on soldiers. Truly brilliant performances.
