hey mate i bought a brand new jag japan re issue about 3 weeks ago. it was fine at first but now it has pretty bad fret buzz on the low e, a, d and g strings, any thoughts?
hi, i just got a jag car mij. i had to order my whammy bar as none came with it. i ordered one that descritpion says: for japan jags. will i have a problem with the teeth on trem plate?
Do you know where i can get the adjusting screw? I just bought a CIJ antigua jaguar and just realized its missing! the trem seems to work fine though. . .
hey brother, fantastic bit of info you shared. I had the same trouble with the jaguar that i just got used from someone. Mine looks just like yours but a little less beat up... and i do mean a little less. It has been smacked around a bit. I'll just say it's a road worn. I had to do some minor repairs to the electronics but i had a problem with the vibrato unit not holding the arm in place. Now i can play this thing! You own
i have a fender classic player jaguar and on my whammy barsystem the peic ewhich holds the bar- the pertruding bit which comes up inbetween the strings came loose and fell inside the hole where it comes out of! piss take my mum desides she wants to send it back but i'm sure it's not a majure issue-any help??
The video should show you the set up... like you said, it justfeel through. Just take the strings off and open it...things just need to be tightened up.
Thanks for the video. I´ve got one question. I just took this part off my fender jag (japanese) and noticed a wire coming out in the wood compartiment. The end of the wired is clean pealed but have no idea of where I should attach it back. Any idea?
The wire just goes between the body and the tailpiece. Just sandwich it in there when you reinstall the trem unit. That's how they are from the factory.
I opened my MIM Jaguar and the bridge looks different, made w/cheaper parts, plus 1 screw was really though to take off.......time to order a better bridge or maybe an US or Japan made guitar...
i've been using teflon tape on my bar for a year or so now, because it wouldn't stay put. i don't know why i wasn't curious enough to open up the trem and check it out. i'm putting in a new bridge soon, so i'm gonna fix the whammy at the same time.
ei! Hi!, I have a Jaguar HH Special Edition, and this does not have the tremolo, now I wear it, I can put the jaguar normal?, Or do you recommend something?
puntoycoma00...I think it would be a bit of work to add a tremolo to your guitar. But you already have a separate bridge and tail piece. you could, in theory, just route the hole for the standard jag trem and drop it in...using your existing bridge unit...but that could be considered a pretty "advanced" upgrade. How much do you trust yourself? You might talk to a local guitar repair shop for pointers.
hmm...maybe some plumbers tape? it will thicken the threads up. I did the same on my strat...you'll have to renew it everyonce in a while, but it works.
No, you will need to use pliers on the back of the unit. (this will require taking the strings off) Reference 1:42 in this video. Be careful! Keep the whammy bar in inserted in the slot when you squeeze the teeth that hold it in place on the back of the unit. Leaving the bar in there ensures that you dont snap those teeth off. If those snap off, your screwed. Be careful, or take it to someone if youre not sure about it. Good luck.
hey how does the trem lock work? i assume that it locks the tremelo in place. i am planning on buying this guitar but i will most likely not be using the tremelo feature. what exactly does it do?
thank you so much for doing this. the holder of the trem arm on mine came loose and when i took the screws off to see how to put it right i thought i was in trouble and probably would have been if it weren't for this video. cheers!
hey bro, just a word of advice the trem lock does have a significant purpose! Your supposed to set up the tension spring so that you dont have the move the tremolo arm in order to lock it. its purpose is this: When you break a string it will keep the guitar from going terribly out of tune due to the fact that the lock will keep the other 5 strings as tight as they were before the string broke. so if the lock isnt on the tremolo will pop up and you just push it down and wala! its in tune.
Hi, is there anywhere to get that trem with the fender logo? My is blank, I think someone repaired it. I would like to find one with fender on it, maybe a replica one for the price.
can anyone tell me how to lock the tremolo on the jazzmaster. i have a japanese made one. and also is the tremolo are meant to be loose when i put it in?
haha yes we do. although i guess my real dream guitar would be the new classic player's HH, but with a roller bridge, and a series/ parrallel switch in place of the rythym switch, having the split rollers hotwired... but they've mysteriously disappeared before anyone could buy any - i emailed 123 andthey saidthey didnt know either... sad.
Had a tech do that one...and the switches. Plus all three need to be routed...the pickups where fatter. And i didnt trust myself on the American. I think I paid $90.
you just went straight to the jag without any practice? wow nice job man, i had to practice for like 4 hours on scrap wire before i was ready (it's still pretty sloppy though)
The best way to truly relic a guitar is to play it for 30 years. I personaly have always treated mine with respect. Cleaning them and keeping them climate controled so they don't end up looking like some careless monkey got a hold of it.

is that a vox ac-30 behind you?
CRohrich97 4 months ago
If I may ask, didn't they start making the classic player series with a different sort of bridge to fix this recently?
Because I played one in a shop a few days ago and I went a bit nuts with the vibrato and it actually kept it's tune pretty well.
Good video, I like the diagrams.

Wow, I'm surprised how simple the Jaguar/Jazzmaster trem system is yet it works so well if you're using .11s. Darn.

Hey quick question, where did you buy your tremolo arm from? I've been trying to find a replacement for quite a while. I need the Jap version.
Thanks

that's a floating tremolo, isn't it?... if it is, does it function like a floyd rose?

it is floating...its sort of bizarre and just it's own style. I honestly dont know how a floyd rose works, so i cant say.
