Imagine a Zelda game without magic, holes in enemy defenses, holes to jump over, etc. Yes, some elements are reused in later 2D games, but without this we wouldn't have these elements. Besides, Pay attention to dungeon layouts and they'll feel just like a Zelda game. Albeit, this game was experimental, but fighting iron knuckles without jumping is fun and challenging.

Simple strategy guide for taking out Dark Link (The AVGN way)

1.) Plug in Power Glove.

2.) Insert Hand into Power Glove.

3.) Input "LoZ: AoL" code into Power Glove.

4.) Turn away from the screen.

5.) Start monologuing about how the game isn't that bad.

6.) Make sure to wave your Power Glove hand aroung for emphasis.

7.) turn around to see that you win.

8.) congradjewlations, newb. You just beat LoZ:AoL using the cheapest way ever. You win a gold star and an entire internets.

I've never seen ANYONE, EVER defeat Dark Link in this game without using the "hide in a corner" trick. I've seen people who hit him a few times without using it, but DL hit them 4 or 5 times before they got a single hit in. If someone takes the easy way out and doesn't go out there to prove him/herself that's on them, not on the game. Well yes... he is easy... if you turtle and don't try to actually fight him. have to admit, I've beaten him like this all the times I've played except for when I played it on my emulator, but that's only because it takes 3 lives to get to the temple, 3 lives to get through the final palace to the bosses, and another 1 life minimum to get through the thunderbird boss and then shadow link. but you only get to start with 3 lives so...
