I bet she didn't try starting in 2nd gear. That might help.

Difficult to start in 2nd when you are backing out. :-)

I think she's not a dumb ass at all. Most of the time, a car is immobilized in snow because the non-driven wheels are hung up and the driven wheels can't generate enough force to push/pull the car out of that situation
