Amtrak 49 Derailment in Batavia, NY - 8/3/94 - Pt. 4

I read the whole NTSB report, basically this train derailed due to flatten rail-heads, the 2 baggage cars derailed 2 .5 miles east of this location but kept going, till it derailed completely at that switch shown in the video.. 1 conrail crew reported seeing sparks and gravel coming from the 1,or second car of the train.

the ride must have been aweful. im glad no one got killed. thankfully the train hasnt had any issues since this derailment.,

I was a passenger on the train. Spent 8 days in hospital before I went back home to Norway. What a vacation... :-)

The last 9 cars, from the dome car back, were scrapped.

2 of my co-workers were on this train, both got beat up pretty badly. Thankfully noone was killed. I worked on the next days Lake Shore, great footage.

You're the only person I know that has been at the scene of an amtrak train wreck and the only one to film it. Than you for posting it. How many parts to this are there?

As much as I would love to take credit for being there, this is actually footage given to me by a guy I know who works at a tv station and had media access to the crash site.

Once he didn't need the footage anymore, he gave me about 2 hours worth of unseen footage which I pared down to 40 minutes or so. There are four parts to it.

there was a reason why the dome cars,sleepers,coaches and some buffets with some more diners were scrapped i know they have heritage baggages and diners with one dome car onto the reason... CAUSE THEY were too old!
