Hi my friend, I love all kinds of good music, but this is close to white noise or a bad refrigerator gone rotten: does anyone really like it. I mean REALLY LIKE, not respect from a cultural standpoint, which I do!
really good point of view. I thin I can agree with you, but on the other hand this kind of transgress could be fruitful (in artistic dimension) for music's future.
Good, after 2 years from posting I got a very kind answer!
I'll also be honest: I love jazz and my beloved wife almost hates 90% of the "sounds" I play/listen to: If you like this, I'm fine with it and happy for you.
But when I talk/play jazz I talk/play rithm, harmony, melody or its TEMPORARY absence.
Seriously, what is -for you- the meaning of this music, without rythm, unintellegigle harmony, and definitely no melody ?
lately... ive been just scared of how much mimicking i am doing
of other musicians. and want to listen to things
that are very hard to repeat, or steal ya know?
ofcourse ill never be able to just be completely free of others influences
but thats okay. sometimes i wonder if ill ever get to play "exactly whats on my mind" and thats what i love about these musicians. and what this music means to me. to be able to play what you actually feel/want.
@pizzaROX Thanks again for your clever answer. Anyway I do not believe that -from any viewpoint at all- being just "totally free" gets anyone anywhere. But this might not be the point ... in fact now I started writing some phylosophical things and deleted all of them.
Maybe you are right, music's sole purpose could be to make you feel good, and in 13th century they would have burnt the Pink Floyd alive...
@pfmfan38 hah youre right about that pfloyd thing=P
=) no problem, being totally free doesnt get anyone anywhere? I dont know ..maybe not? but im sure its exhilarating,liberating... do you ever wish that you never knew anything? start off being completely oblivious to criticism and other peoples ideas? if there was no structure to take down to begin with that would be pretty amazing to me not knowing what music was or is supposed to be. oh and kindve like poetry, or all 'arts' in genereal dont
@pfmfan38 dont need explanation. which is the philosophy on art today.
=/ kinda makes things difficult to care about or make unsure of whether or not to appreciate something. i think id just like to be unconsciously aware of the things i like. im glad were having this conversation btw! i dont normally get to converse these ideas with anyone. isnt funny that were having this conversation on one of the least viewd videos on youtube? no one will ever know!
@pizzaROX : funny? yes, the way life is: good people who ask themselves questions sometimes try to find the answers in (allow me the word) "obscure" places. This is valid for all kinds of human knowledge, including music.
I believe it's impossible to really free oneself of all influences, it's a myth. If you are a researcher, you have to change, improve, destroy, rebuild the existing ... but you still stand somewhere !
Now, thin ice for me: music is communication, what do you communicate if

@pfmfan38 =) hah maybe that makes you and your wife a good match ?
well, i guess i what i believe is that
there is no true meaning or point. id rather not think about the theory.
its like traveling with out the intention of landing anywhere specific.
which is just beautiful to me. i do love all sorts of "music"
i guess what what it means to me when i watch this
is that every musician there, is not worried at all about
what will happen next or what time signature or key to be in.
and im sure
