OMG I DID THAT FOR THREE YEARS!! We didn't have a toaster for two and a half years and then we moved and it took 6 months to unpack and stuff, so now we finally got a toaster. Our old one was a mickey mouse one which made mickey faces on your toast. When the toast was ready it played the mickey mouse club tune. Oh how I miss that toaster... :(

When I lived in the dorms, we made rice krispie treats in our dorm microwave. Basically, you put butter and marshmallows in a bowl and microwave them until they melt. And then you stir in the rice krispies, into the molten gooey mixture. So if you get tired of pop tarts, you might try that comfort food alternative!
