Ninja birds drop messages of doom. LOL. I currently train with an instructor that knew Ed Parker who trained under William Chow. They knew each other in the seventies. The form in this video is much different from Parker, Tracy and Chinese Kenpo. Do you know what other style have influenced Mr. Mataalii's system?
I did not know that, I will have to ask and see if my friend knows this. That would be pretty cool. Having different techniques is not a bad thing. I know that Tracey Kenpo is a branch from Ed Parker and it has differences. I was just wondering if Mataalii's version had various influence because it look similar to Kempo, which is of japanese origin. Take care.
Ok, I am fascinated with history. The experience with my teacher set me on a road to research were my own style came from, it is a fun journey. " Kaja Kenpo" rang a bell and could not place it, then I remembered a buddy of mine in High school studied Kajukenbo. After some research I discovered that Mr. Mataalii in the 70's did a US martial arts tour and among the styles he was close to, were Kajukenbo, Kempo and Kenpo. I see the influence now. Professor Chow also observed other styles.
William Chow passed away however his legacy is still alive. This is a testimony that those who give with honesty gain great rewards. There are instructors still alive today that knew Professor Chow, they carry with them a piece of history. How cool is that! :) God bless your journey.
