Actually the mathematical 'zero' originated from India. As regards the Islamic contribution to maths and science; well the advanced civilisations that had been conquered by the Arab desert bandits did manage to continue their work for a while despite Islam but was soon ended by Islam. So when we say the Islamic contribution to maths was zero we mean zero not the zero.

"just because i dont believe in gad does not make me a bad person"
Isn't that a bit like saying, "just because I don't believe in authors doesn't stop me from reading books?"
The question isn't whether you can make sense of morality without believing in God, but whether there would be morality without a transcendent source (which is traditionally thought to be one of God's attributes.)

Why is it believers seem so uncomfortable when they are challenged by atheists but atheists do not get uncomfortable when they are challenged by believers?
Yes you can believe in god as much as you want, but when you equate god to other concepts it distorts the concept of god in itself so you can always prove god exist. I did read your link but you lost me with your loose definitions of both god and logic, also your "equation" N=RW=E is complete nonsense. oyur arguement is no different than "god exists because"
@cichriz what do you mean god is god and logic is logic?they are the same thing = the law that this infinite universe obeys.I'm not talking about an old guy who loves a jewish lady and got jesus out of her,I'm talking about the law of this infinite universe which links what exists and what doesn't through right and wrong.
Nonexistence is linked to wrong and existence to right, there you go ,what's so hard about it?easy peasy
@paginipro Yes you see, logic is a way to reach correct reasoning, a series of steps, a system we use to make sense of things, god is a being or a concept but not a system, it wouldn't be god, it would be replicable. Maybe you meant that god is what keeps the universe "logic" but then again they are not the same thing.
Also is 0 wrong? why would non existence linked with wrong? your grandgrandson is not born yet is that wrong?
I like you , you're scared of finding the right answers to all your questions about this life universe ..etc before making the discovery I was the same ,Icouldn't contemplate of understanding god or the mechanics of this infinite universe but then again I wanted to understand them.logic deep down at it's core is a way but that way is the way of the infinite universe ,of course when you get it you can then choose to reach correct reasoning,it's all in opening your mind to it.
@paginipro don't patronize me, its okay to open your mind but be careful, your brain may fall out.
seriously, if you think you can understand the mechanic of the universe, you may be comiting the sin of pride yourself without knowing, your logic=god does not work becuase it changes the meaing of both.
now I suggest you revise your page because all your prove of god is full of flaws, I pointed out a couple, do your homework.
Christopher Hitchens is great, and God is not. He is the Al Gore of Atheism (or Anti-theism), and is helping significantly to rid the world of extremist religious beliefs. If I believed in reincarnation I'd say he was the reincarnation of Thomas Jefferson, Friederich Nietzsche, Thomas Paine, or Socrates. If Atheism needed a leader, it would be him. He is just one of the voices of reason in an unreasonable world, and he truly is a great man whether you agree with him or not.
@Omnicron777 Well, i'd blame whoever was responsible for selecting the panel. Woolpe hasn't a clue and never referenced the bible! God made man in His own image; capacity to love, think, create and ultimately have a relationship with Him. However, Adam[firstman] disobeyed a command resulting in Man's seperation from God ie. enemy of God and all He stands for. He gave his perfect son as a sacrafice to reconcile man to Himself. If you feel the tug on your heart, listen and ask God's mercy!
@Dodo251 Please explain. Christians want to believe the majority of the world's population shall burn forever in hell, no atheist I've met has ever wanted such a sick thing.
@VerySeriousUser We don't want that, and if believe so it certainly doesn't mean we hate you. We just don't care. You, on the other hand, do whatever it is in your power to spread hatred by insulting, mocking, cursing etc. And why should you care about our consideration of heaven and hell when you clearly don't believe in them?
@Dodo251 Yes you want that, why would you otherwise want to believe such things and promote it? The fact that you don't care pretty much sums up how you have worse morals as well. Why do you assume I'm an atheist? Have you ever cursed? I have never met any atheist who wanted to "spread hatred by insulting, mocking, cursing etc". It's not that I give a shit about your "consideration of heaven and hell" but I think it's douchebaggery to be wanting others to be tortured and suffer in eternity.
@VerySeriousUser Kid, get off my back, will you? Nobody wants you to suffer in eternity, we just believe you will. Since you don't believe in it, ignore it. If we don't care we have 'worse morals', if we do care we're 'ostentatious'. Make up your mind already. TheAmazingAtheist's channel is a pretty good source of hatred and vigour.
@Dodo251 You choose to believe right? Or is someone threating you to believe what you do? Hence you want to believe others to suffer for eternity, simple as that. Ignore it? Then why are you posting stupid things on the internet if you want everyone to ignore it? I've never said you were 'ostentatious'. You watch TAA's videos and you assume all atheists are hateful?
@VerySeriousUser I want you to ignore my faith and I'll ignore yours absence of formerly mentioned. I'm not interested in other people's beliefs but it does concern me when intolerant jackasses start insulting and shitting all over those who believe in God (not saying that you are one of them). I've seen enough hateful comments on taa's videos to come to that conclusion and very seldomly have I seen a believer retort in the same fassion.
@Dodo251 First of all, why do you say I have no faith? You're the one who started insulting people here, how does that make you one of them? I wouldn't expect a lot of christian people to be arguing on taa's videos anyway. People who resort to religions to explain things in the world annoy me because they try to explain stuff basically with the lack of any explanation what so ever, instead they say stuff like "god is the answer" or perhaps "we can't understand it so it's true" herp derp...
@VerySeriousUser Where have I insulted anyone, quote, please. People who resort to religion when explaining the world aren't your concern at all and shouldn't bother you since they don't in any way insult or intrude your beliefs or way of life. Explanation is plentiful if you open your eyes a bit and refer to intelligent and educated people like John Lennox who have soundly defeated many world-renowned atheists such as prof. Atkins, Hitchens, etc.
@Dodo251 "I love how atheists hate" you said. Someone talking to me is of my concern, I would say. Secondly, how would you know if this wouldn't "insult or intrude your beliefs or way of life" when you have no idea what my beliefs or way of life are? From your latest comment I know see how you're not a very intelligent person, which means arguing with you is pointless since you don't understand other people.
@VerySeriousUser And how is my comment hateful? Calling me names won't grant you any sort of advantage in this debate. If other people's opinions and explanation of life intrude your way of life or insult you then all I can say is, grow a pair and don't be a crybaby. The difference between you and me is that you have some issues with freedom of expression and I with insolence and arrogance. I don't understand other people? That's quite hypocritical from a person who can't tolerate an opinion.
@Dodo251 It's insulting because it implies atheists hate just because they want to hate. I'm not calling you names, I'm just stating facts. I didn't say their opinions or explanations intrude my way of life. If you think people who take offence from others' beliefs should man up, you should man up yourself because you're the one who is having problem with other peoples' opinions. I never implied I can't tolerate another person's opinion. I guess you'll have to re-read all my posts again.
@VerySeriousUser It's not insulting nor is it hateful, it's "stating the facts", as you call it. :) I'm the one who's having a problem with atheists' hatered towards another man's freedom of religion and their incapability to behave in a civilised fashion while you're the one who's whining when people don't share your opinion and take a deistic view of life. I think that is quite indicative of your lack of tolerance towards freedom of speech.
@Dodo251 Well it's not stating any facts since it's not true. You still don't understand that atheists are not generally against anyone's religion or freedom of religion, and even if you see atheists (and also idiots apparently) behave badly (on the place most expected to be full of such) they're not the only ones. Neither you are behaving in a civilized fashion. I don't care if anyone don't share my opinion, as I said before, you need to re-read my posts because you haven't read them, obv.
@Dodo251 try using your brain for once instead of being controlled by your fellow creatures who claim the authority of an imaginary sky-mawfucka, and just try and live using reason and the Socratic method. You won't waste so much time defending your imaginary friends, at least.
@Dodo251 Just the fact that you said "Explanation is plentiful if you open your eyes a bit and refer to intelligent and educated people like John Lennox who have soundly defeated many world-renowned atheists such as prof. Atkins, Hitchens, etc." more or less shows what my basis for my last comment is. Apparently you're not interesting in explanations that could actually explain something, but instead any kind of story that you emotionally like or w/e. Education and renown is also very overrated.
@timjdong 'ruin your cred. a bit'? Really? You should ask around about Hitchens credibilty, I don't think it's hurting at all. As far as writing for Vanity Fair, or any such pubilcation, which in your view is 'devoid of even a crumb of intellectual thought' I'll quote Hitchens himself 'you give me the impression, I hate to say it, of someone hasn't read any of the arguements against your position ever'
I do not believe in god but the science debate to dispute god at this point in human history is equally as fallible because there is so much about the universe and cellular level that we are so far away form understanding.
The more you try to define God, the more ridiculous and difficult to defend your position tends to be; the more indefinite and vague the definition is, the more irrelevant the idea of God becomes.
@bersa888 as ridiculous as the idea of human trying to comprehend the entire scope of the universe in relation to themselves on a scientific level. I do not believe in god but I feel as if these debates can never have answers. and I am not completely certain it will matter if we ever do. The awful things that the crazy religious do would just find a different avenue because that is human nature
@patrickttierney : trying to understand the nature of the universe through science is the only way known to man that might work, or at least the best way of getting closer to it - whether that will ever happen or not :-)
I think we are are all seperately and collectively what we call God....not the religious holier than shit god....but think about it....whatever you believe to be true....is true....at least to you. Doesnt matter if your right. For example: when we believed the world was flat....it didnt make it flat, but it certainly controlled your vacation destination. If you think a race of people are lazy, you will find evidents to support your belief.....so be careful of what you believe I guess. Thoughts.
Twas just revealed to me that Hitch writes & edits for VANITY FAIR! My God a FASHION magazine, really Hitch? Man that's disappointing. I'm sure it pays well but what about all the royalties from your books? I'm embarrassed to admit, but that does ruin your cred. a bit. Get well soon (& get a new job, preferably out of FASHION or away from POP mags devoid of even a crumb of intellectual thought : )
Look at how Wolpe shows his insecurity in forms of tells as seen in his body language. He holds and caresses his hands constantly as a comfort against the onslaught of reason and common sense. I would also be very defensive and guarded if some one were to attack my entire career and personal life which I had devoted to the existence of Leprechauns, God and other child hood fantasies.
@timjdong I'm not sure I understand your point. Are you suggesting, after hearing this man debate, that you find his daily work some how lacking in purpose or importance? I own a janitorial cleaning business, which according to you would make it impossible for me to to be a credible debater or philosopher...sounds a little snobby to me!
I'm betting that Vanity Fair pays the rent so he could pursue other things...such as we see here...no? Intersting.
@timjdong Vanity Fair obviously has a crumb of intellectual thought if Christopher Hitchens writes for them. Personally, I don't think being an editor and writer of Vanity Fair is anything to be ashamed about.
for the church to bring science into play just to stay alive is laughable...
belief has no scientific weight....i can tell you i believe in the tooth fairy, you can pretty much come back with a common sense way to explain how im totally mad
It annoys me how the religious debaters always seem to take the argument to heart and always end up raising their voice over the other people talking. And saying that religion is true or scientific is completely ludicrous, it's all completely based on a hunch.
@KidsWithGuns1992 So true. I've noticed this on all the religious debates I've watched on youtube. The religious person always raises his voice throughout the entire debate. That is testimony to what religion is. Bullshit.
That's odd. Wolpe is the first one I saw to shout in his debates. It surprised me. Definitely not all religious debaters shout. Have you watched a debate with John Lennox or William Lane Craig for example?
Rabbi Wolpe always makes a good adversary for the Hitch...but he's still on a losing wicket right from the start. Shame really. I look forward to a more challenging debate but there never is one.
@xamot27 Not true. Everyone tends to be born with some kind of belief that some things exist beyond the natural. That's just because of our ability to ascribe minds to others (or even things). So contrary to what you said, the "local kid" has to be taught that there is a natural explanation for so and so before he can become a naturalist, which would be an obvious precursor to an atheistic paradigm. Atheism is not the default position. Especially of the sort the new atheists espouse.
I don't think that is entirely true. Children do spontaneously create imaginary friends and they may contribute this to a god if they are told such person exists. Even atheists may have had imaginary friends as kids.
God´s work may be measured by science and it is SCIENTIFIC PROOF of His existance. But God itself cannot be measured because God is Intangible and unmeasurable. I believe that Science may be the quickest path to discovering God through His awesome work of Creation.
"TRUE"... and "SCIENTIFIC". WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN? i dont think ANYBODY got that memo. all this time i have been living with the belief that god is unscientific man-made nonsense. i really hope the rabbi was thinking "what the fuck just fell out of my mouth?!?!" he seems like a pretty smart guy.
Because He's GOD, you filthy little sinner you. He made you incapable of understanding Him, even as He made the rules that you must be punished for this incapacity!
@Pyrrhic24 He's doing just fine. Oh, wait.

Isn't that a bit like saying, "just because I don't believe in authors doesn't stop me from reading books?"
The question isn't whether you can make sense of morality without believing in God, but whether there would be morality without a transcendent source (which is traditionally thought to be one of God's attributes.)

god is god, logic is logic
Yes you can believe in god as much as you want, but when you equate god to other concepts it distorts the concept of god in itself so you can always prove god exist. I did read your link but you lost me with your loose definitions of both god and logic, also your "equation" N=RW=E is complete nonsense. oyur arguement is no different than "god exists because"
cichriz 8 months ago
@cichriz what do you mean god is god and logic is logic?they are the same thing = the law that this infinite universe obeys.I'm not talking about an old guy who loves a jewish lady and got jesus out of her,I'm talking about the law of this infinite universe which links what exists and what doesn't through right and wrong.
Nonexistence is linked to wrong and existence to right, there you go ,what's so hard about it?easy peasy
paginipro 8 months ago
@paginipro Yes you see, logic is a way to reach correct reasoning, a series of steps, a system we use to make sense of things, god is a being or a concept but not a system, it wouldn't be god, it would be replicable. Maybe you meant that god is what keeps the universe "logic" but then again they are not the same thing.
Also is 0 wrong? why would non existence linked with wrong? your grandgrandson is not born yet is that wrong?
cichriz 8 months ago
I like you , you're scared of finding the right answers to all your questions about this life universe ..etc before making the discovery I was the same ,Icouldn't contemplate of understanding god or the mechanics of this infinite universe but then again I wanted to understand them.logic deep down at it's core is a way but that way is the way of the infinite universe ,of course when you get it you can then choose to reach correct reasoning,it's all in opening your mind to it.
paginipro 8 months ago
@paginipro don't patronize me, its okay to open your mind but be careful, your brain may fall out.
seriously, if you think you can understand the mechanic of the universe, you may be comiting the sin of pride yourself without knowing, your logic=god does not work becuase it changes the meaing of both.
now I suggest you revise your page because all your prove of god is full of flaws, I pointed out a couple, do your homework.
cichriz 8 months ago
@cichriz alright forget about god and logic just open your mind and see the law that governs the mechanics of his infinite universe

@Dodo251 hate what? I love how christians hate
VerySeriousUser 9 months ago
@VerySeriousUser No, atheists are hateful, it is very easily observable on any atheist video. Christians don't give a flying fuck about you.
Dodo251 9 months ago
@Dodo251 Please explain. Christians want to believe the majority of the world's population shall burn forever in hell, no atheist I've met has ever wanted such a sick thing.
VerySeriousUser 9 months ago
@VerySeriousUser We don't want that, and if believe so it certainly doesn't mean we hate you. We just don't care. You, on the other hand, do whatever it is in your power to spread hatred by insulting, mocking, cursing etc. And why should you care about our consideration of heaven and hell when you clearly don't believe in them?
Dodo251 9 months ago
@Dodo251 Yes you want that, why would you otherwise want to believe such things and promote it? The fact that you don't care pretty much sums up how you have worse morals as well. Why do you assume I'm an atheist? Have you ever cursed? I have never met any atheist who wanted to "spread hatred by insulting, mocking, cursing etc". It's not that I give a shit about your "consideration of heaven and hell" but I think it's douchebaggery to be wanting others to be tortured and suffer in eternity.
VerySeriousUser 9 months ago
@VerySeriousUser Kid, get off my back, will you? Nobody wants you to suffer in eternity, we just believe you will. Since you don't believe in it, ignore it. If we don't care we have 'worse morals', if we do care we're 'ostentatious'. Make up your mind already. TheAmazingAtheist's channel is a pretty good source of hatred and vigour.
Dodo251 9 months ago
@Dodo251 You choose to believe right? Or is someone threating you to believe what you do? Hence you want to believe others to suffer for eternity, simple as that. Ignore it? Then why are you posting stupid things on the internet if you want everyone to ignore it? I've never said you were 'ostentatious'. You watch TAA's videos and you assume all atheists are hateful?
VerySeriousUser 9 months ago
@VerySeriousUser I want you to ignore my faith and I'll ignore yours absence of formerly mentioned. I'm not interested in other people's beliefs but it does concern me when intolerant jackasses start insulting and shitting all over those who believe in God (not saying that you are one of them). I've seen enough hateful comments on taa's videos to come to that conclusion and very seldomly have I seen a believer retort in the same fassion.
Dodo251 9 months ago
@Dodo251 First of all, why do you say I have no faith? You're the one who started insulting people here, how does that make you one of them? I wouldn't expect a lot of christian people to be arguing on taa's videos anyway. People who resort to religions to explain things in the world annoy me because they try to explain stuff basically with the lack of any explanation what so ever, instead they say stuff like "god is the answer" or perhaps "we can't understand it so it's true" herp derp...
VerySeriousUser 9 months ago
@VerySeriousUser Where have I insulted anyone, quote, please. People who resort to religion when explaining the world aren't your concern at all and shouldn't bother you since they don't in any way insult or intrude your beliefs or way of life. Explanation is plentiful if you open your eyes a bit and refer to intelligent and educated people like John Lennox who have soundly defeated many world-renowned atheists such as prof. Atkins, Hitchens, etc.
Dodo251 9 months ago
@Dodo251 "I love how atheists hate" you said. Someone talking to me is of my concern, I would say. Secondly, how would you know if this wouldn't "insult or intrude your beliefs or way of life" when you have no idea what my beliefs or way of life are? From your latest comment I know see how you're not a very intelligent person, which means arguing with you is pointless since you don't understand other people.
VerySeriousUser 9 months ago
@VerySeriousUser And how is my comment hateful? Calling me names won't grant you any sort of advantage in this debate. If other people's opinions and explanation of life intrude your way of life or insult you then all I can say is, grow a pair and don't be a crybaby. The difference between you and me is that you have some issues with freedom of expression and I with insolence and arrogance. I don't understand other people? That's quite hypocritical from a person who can't tolerate an opinion.
Dodo251 9 months ago
@Dodo251 It's insulting because it implies atheists hate just because they want to hate. I'm not calling you names, I'm just stating facts. I didn't say their opinions or explanations intrude my way of life. If you think people who take offence from others' beliefs should man up, you should man up yourself because you're the one who is having problem with other peoples' opinions. I never implied I can't tolerate another person's opinion. I guess you'll have to re-read all my posts again.
VerySeriousUser 9 months ago
@VerySeriousUser It's not insulting nor is it hateful, it's "stating the facts", as you call it. :) I'm the one who's having a problem with atheists' hatered towards another man's freedom of religion and their incapability to behave in a civilised fashion while you're the one who's whining when people don't share your opinion and take a deistic view of life. I think that is quite indicative of your lack of tolerance towards freedom of speech.
Dodo251 9 months ago
@Dodo251 Well it's not stating any facts since it's not true. You still don't understand that atheists are not generally against anyone's religion or freedom of religion, and even if you see atheists (and also idiots apparently) behave badly (on the place most expected to be full of such) they're not the only ones. Neither you are behaving in a civilized fashion. I don't care if anyone don't share my opinion, as I said before, you need to re-read my posts because you haven't read them, obv.
VerySeriousUser 9 months ago
@Dodo251 I would suggest you stop acting like a mad little kid and stop the false accusations. It's becoming very pathetic. For your own sake.

I do not believe in god but the science debate to dispute god at this point in human history is equally as fallible because there is so much about the universe and cellular level that we are so far away form understanding.
patrickttierney 9 months ago
The more you try to define God, the more ridiculous and difficult to defend your position tends to be; the more indefinite and vague the definition is, the more irrelevant the idea of God becomes.
bersa888 9 months ago

Thoughts.

xamot27 11 months ago 29
@xamot27 Not true. Everyone tends to be born with some kind of belief that some things exist beyond the natural. That's just because of our ability to ascribe minds to others (or even things). So contrary to what you said, the "local kid" has to be taught that there is a natural explanation for so and so before he can become a naturalist, which would be an obvious precursor to an atheistic paradigm. Atheism is not the default position. Especially of the sort the new atheists espouse.
HecklerBoy7 11 months ago
@xamot27
I don't think that is entirely true. Children do spontaneously create imaginary friends and they may contribute this to a god if they are told such person exists. Even atheists may have had imaginary friends as kids.
