reached 115 heat index in biloxi a few days ago i believe. Im from Baltimore and im going there tomorrow to visit my mom and sis. I will be arriving in New Orleans airport tho. I <3 New Orleans and Biloxi ! This will be my 2nd time visiting
The waves are small and the water dirty becasue of the barrier islands. Once you get on the other side of Ship Island the water is clear and blue like in florida.
ive lived here my whole life except the two years befor katrina i lived in pensacola,fl moved back a year befor it hit and if you had seen biloxi befor katrina you would know that standing there on the beach it shouldnt look that empty..there used to be so many beautiful houses along hwy 90(the beach) just look at befor and after pics on youtube. and you were pointing the camera towards ocean springs not gulfport,,,gulfport is in the opposite direction.
@stephdh10 Ahhhhhh...........I know where Gulfport is. The birthplace of NFL quarterback Brett Favre. Just west of Biloxi.......right down the road. Thats where I was pointing. I find it amusing that you really think I was implying it was in the opposite direction. East Come on man. Only a tiny area of Mississippi coastline even touches the Gulf. 50 miles or so. :-) And I was here before years ago.
You should have seen it the years immediatly following katrina. The damage was devistating. And technically speaking, Brett is not from Gulfport. He is from Kiln, which is a small town North West (about 30 miles) of where you video taped this. I know all of this for fact because I, too am from the Bay St. Louis/ Kiln area.
@stephdh10........not to belabor the point but....again....you assumed I meant Gulfport was east of where I was standing. There may have been a delay or whatever between when I was talking and where the camera was pointing in a 3 second section of the video because of the processing but any idiot knows Gulfport IS WEST OF BILOXI. No offense but using your assumption it would be like someone meant or was saying Los Angeles was east of New York City. Only the assumption is ludicrous.
it is alot better now since we had so much help from other states. it looks somewhat normal again...it only took 4 years but yea..and you pointed towards ocean springs not gulfport...gulfport is in the opposite direction...you can also find aftermath pics from biloxi on the internet.just search it up anywhere. it looked just like nola(new orleans) F'd up!
@lunatiksAlterEgo When I said "commercialized" I meant that you're not gouged to death in price for a stay along this beach. It is just wonderful...its not overdeveloped yet with franchise because the businesses are in full swing yet after the hurricane. Go see it in this state while you can...
the beach water is so shallow btw

Me too. I'm in North Texas where I retired from the USAF. Katrina fouled up my retirement plans to go back home.

In a way your lucky. Sometimes I wish I didn't remember anything about where I was born either. :-)

I love Biloxi. The sand is georgeous and it's not so commercialized as most beaches. My fondest memories of any beach are Biloxi.

the water is just muddy as the Mississippi river spills into the gulf, it,s not polluted as it appears to be.

The water is dirty there had you taken the boat to ship island you would have seen perfectly clear water it is pretty and blue out there.
