I like most of Dylan Moran's stuff, that i've watched.
But he goes against what's good about much of what he does, here.
Firstly, by failing to bother to truly engage with,or make a cogent point regarding, what he's commenting on; 'failing to engage' was part of the conceit, here, but he actually failed to engage with making any kind of worthwhile point.
And secondly, and most importantly for a comedian, by simply failing to be remotely funny.

i agree rap as a whole has gone kinda doo doo but there are still alot of great artists out there. You can't generalise a whole music genre its not like rock n roll doesn't talk about sex and drugs.

I actually love old school positive hip hop - late 80s/early 90s was when rap music really had something to say. It has lost all meaning now. He's right that rap music is just about money and women and guns nowadays.
I miss the old days of Nas, Ice Cube and De La Soul. They really were great and really promoted rap in a positive way. They wrote about real life and not some fantasy world. The only rapper I can think of today who speaks the truth is Lupe Fiasco. That guy is good.

I actually love old school positive hip hop - late 80s/early 90s was when rap music really had something to say. It has lost all meaning now. He's right that rap music is just about money and women and guns nowadays.
I miss the old days of Nas, Ice Cube and De La Soul. They really were great and really promoted rap in a positive way. They wrote about real life and not some fantasy world. The only rapper I can think of today who speaks the truth is Lupe Fiasco. That guy is good.

Agree with him about rap being infantile. I used to love it in my teens, then hit my twenties and quickly realised it's complete crap. Hell, I'm only 25 and it makes me feel old.
One exception is Run DMC obviously.

@osakanone Most of it isn't, there's some very good music under the genre of hip-hop though. A lot of hip-hop is more poetic than most music ever made and to say something like that is pretty ignorant considering you've probably heard some of the popular songs on the radio. I don't judge music until I've really given it a chance and explored the genre
