  • So this is basically where Moss' voice was born

  • Seems like a really cheap advertisement for a "telescupe".

  • 0:07 Stephen would make a very purdy birdy! ^^

  • what does "bleep" mean??

  • It is heartwarming to hear conversations like this. People should take little more time to say what they have to say. Speaking calmly, with decent language, without rush and with lot of kindness, politeness and smiling. And also take more time to listen as calmly, without interrupting others. Most people speak like Vicky Pollard nowadays, and either mumbling or too loud.

  • @sireluxomatic

Or just survey, as that is often used for the very same purpose.

  • I wish this was a trailer for a new Bond film.

  • Stephen's reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally enjoying it at 1:34

  • @antiphonebill OH DEAR, I LOVE YOU~! xD

  • While I originally began watching these comedy sketches because of Hugh Laurie, I must admit that Fry has quite a bit more satirical prowess. THESE ones in particular I watch continuously because, well, Tony and Control are simply way too cute. Aww ^j^

  • What does Fry say? "Could you stop keeping us under surv..." what? It sounds like it should be surveillance but the word is too short.

  • your plan is working. he's getting in a car and driving away!

  • "Telescupe" must me a code name for something very complicated and technologically good considering what the device allows you to do. Observe a fellow from quite a long distance away as if he was standing in the room with you, while he is, in fact, not standing in the room? Gosh!

  • Bo.

I had to do a double-take, cos it looks like a photo of the Beatles on Plymouth Hoe behind Control sat at his desk, but the images don't match up. I reckon it's a conspiracy that either Hugh or Stephen are really dead.

  • Laurie is here like this black guy from IT CROWD :)

  • this cracks me up like nothing else. And I have no idea why.

  • "You ARE a wily old fox, Control."

Well, I don't know how wily he is, but he is quite a fox. ...Gosh, I'm weird.

  • m what do you mean happens there?

  • omG sheepish birthday control, loves it!

  • happy birthday to control xD i just love the strange dialogues

  • ah.. how I wish hugh laurie got me a birthday present tied with a red ribbon..

  • "hello? enemy agent?" lol

  • SorteOrm, about your info on the video...IT'S TELESCUPE ! cooooorrrr ! lol love these two, they are an inspiration XD

  • I so like their clear articulation:)))

  • who is Control supposed to parody?

  • In many of the John le Carre spy novels, "Control" was the code name for the previous head of British intelligence. Not sure if he's the inspiration, but maybe considering the spy theme.

  • "You are a wiley old fox control"

    Lol.

  • I love these guys! Their innocence rocks my world. :)

  • i am actually crying! happy bithday to control x'D

  • They remind me of Moss...

  • Especially that singing at the end.

  • Tony and Control are so cute ! ^^

  • LOL John the Baptist! LOL I Said that the other day at work and everyone was freaked out

  • Bohhhh...!

  • It's adorable how the conflict is resolved.

The head of British Intelligence will tell you: you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.

  • Control and Tony are AWESOME

  • teles-cupe!

  • Among all the Hugh and Laurie sketches, the ones about "Control and Tony" is by far my favourites. Hilarious jab at the stereotype that the British are all controlled, mild-mannered, polite and frequently utter the word "gosh!".

Anywho, I do have a soft spot for Peter and John, chugging enormous amounts of whisky and cursing about that bloddy Marjorie taking over the company. A close second.

  • I totally agree that they are the best sketches! I'd love to be able to get away with such relaxed and pointless conversations in such serious situations.

  • oh dear....when Hugh said 'say no more' I expected to hear....'say no more, say no more, nudge nudge wink wink know what I mean'

  • Same here!

  • You're a man of the world, aren't ya?

  • telescupe! telescope!

  • Aww, Tony is so cute, bringing Control a birthday prezzie. Adorable!

  • LOL

  • Haha, "BOW!"

  • It's a parody of a similarly wooden tv show, I assume?

  • Looks like an English Teaching Video, only nobody would be lucky enough to get an English Teaching Video with these two :(

The standard of English would be great if these guys would go on to make one, though...

  • I love that wooden acting!

  • Wooden? It's no worse than Shortland Street, just better written lol :)

  • it being wooden is purposeful. That's what makes it so brilliant!

    Telecsupe ... Telescope!! Ha!
