Hey Stef, have you thought about making a separate video stream consisting of the same kind of reasoning, but aimed more towards a younger audience? The obvious reason would be to imprint your way of reasoning into people earlier in their life. And maybe there's also a demand for such a philosophical education amongst younger people, or their parents.
On the topic of higher education, you can find almost anything you want online. Between lectures on youtube and websites like the one like saylor.org you could spend your whole lifetime learning whatever your heart desires.
Your so right stef I dropped out of highschool cause i could take the mental abuse anymore and my dad cause hes an entrepreneur understood it and accepted that i would take my own choises in life put my mother on the other hand paniced and said to me: omg what would my mother say about that(my grandmother),what will the teacher say and not really care about what i feel put what do other people think about her if she has a child who dropped out of school,of course teachers tried toconvinc me too
Depression: Being in a state where the brain can't work around a particular problem for a long enough period of time such that it alters brain chemistry. This breaks down cognitive structures in order to rebuild them from scratch. The brain needs to re-question everything it experiences in order to attempt a workaround to the 'problem' it is experiencing. If it is not resolved, depression continues. Identifying the problem and finding any cognitive workaround solves depression. No drugs required
@jimbobg65 Source: My own experiences with depression and being prescribed serotonin reuptake inhibitors before attempting to fix myself without the use of drugs. Also, a long time to analyse the inner workings of my own mind as it was affected by depression as well as the effects of the drugs I was prescribed.
P.S. I despise the 500 char limit on YouTube. Need more space to explain.
What nonsense. The people of the world owe the planet an apology for allowing the jews to lay waste to it. Mother Gaia has had enough. What do you think the strange sounds from her are? Get some balls
So Stef's a reptilian? my colleague's claimed to have returned from their home planet recently. He says they Zogthurians from the planet Zog and they're not all bad but they're a bit pissed off about their Megaupload accounts going pear-shaped.
-the idea of "atheism" for someone who's entire social structure is built upon Church.. its really difficult to get to this down to people.. you can't just remove people from everything that they know and understand.. as if what they have is wrong.. replacing one truth for another truth is also wrong.. you have to give freedom within both relationships. The agree to disagree can be good if you are sincere about getting down to reason. Nothing is ideal.. people love their illusions too much.
when you say that the reduction of conflict as the roll of women.. I think its more important to address the fact that its potentially abused women who may be less likely to deal with conflicts if they have not confronted the situation of their abuse. These same women who have not dealt with things may turn to drugs/ drink or addiction just to calm their own stormy emotions within.. but those emotions become easier to deal with if you can talk about these perspectives.. its completely rational.
Thank you. It's ok, apology accepted, we are moving further, up to the end. Btw, it was my mistake, also. I'll try to be courteous (as much as it is in my state possible). Physical training will also replace smoking, because for me smoking + training = constant.
I used to be a nurse, and took care of every stranger who crossed my path. But, after 20 + years of giving, giving, giving - but never having any compassion in return - I can't do it anymore. People suck.
@mooncat1965 -- It is a hard thing to experience that constant giving with nothing in return... but if you'll accept it, thank you for trying, at least.
Wondering if stef or anyone can help with a question.
We always talk about violence and force against others but what about our own bodies?..Things we choose to do with our own bodies like drug use, drinking, risky behaviors, etc. I know these things aren't violence perse but the body itself can still be harmed in the brain, liver, health, etc.. I don't know how this type of thing would fall from a moral or philosophical standpoint.
@LJPpro as far as the NAP (Non Aggression Principle) is concerned, your body is your property so... afaik you can do whatever you want with it without any moral issues. As long as you don't interfere with someone else's property then you're good to go! Basically if you want to burn down your own house, go ahead. If your house starts the neighborhood on fire then you've got a moral issue.
@Uruz2012 thanks for the reply. I guess some people would try to argue that a drug addict, for example, isn't hurting any other specific individual but society is at a loss because that person isn't doing the usual expected stuff like being a productive person, raising a family, being part of the community, etc. (not that I agree with this) I guess this is the guilt I feel when doing any harmful behaviors to myself. It's not a moral thing, but that my full potential isn't there.
The best way to teach kids how to ride a bike is to remove the cranks and the pedals. This way, the kid can learn how to balance without having to worry about using the pedals and peddling.
The best way to teach someone to ride a bike that I've found is to hold the back of the seat while the student sits. Then lean the bike left and right, instructing the student to turn in the direction she's leaning. Move the bike right and left a few times till she gets it then start moving forward at a walking pace. Once she gets that break into a slow jog and then let her go.
At age 12 I taught my little sister (about 5) how to ride.
There was no one to teach me and my parents didn't give a rip. I did get that one critical piece of advice as I was struggling to teach myself though. "turn in the direction you begin to fall". That was enough.
people suffering from depression or other mental illness are often told to "get over it", or "stop making excuses". They are mocked, ridiculed, etc. Where is the empathy? the compassion?
I used to think that depression was a matter of choice, until I realized that depression is the logical response to the craptastic quality of society.
@Cortanaisatranny I'll donate for both of us. ;-) Other than that, it's great to hear young people are listening to this and growing up with much of Stef's world view from their youth, which greatly changes their way of interacting with the surrounding world. Looking forward to a peaceful future. Thanks, Stef! :-)

@mike6459 I agree with you but I haven't had the time to study what you have so I can be completely free I just went cold turkey on the bible and religion!
@shadowbankers Do you mind if I ask you what you mean by spiritual? Are you talking about our "essence" residing outside of the physical body, a consciousness that neither requires matter nor energy?
@Valelacerte I was thinking of an existence AS consiousness itself. My question really pertains to his opposition to religion and if that opposition extends to the concept that we exist outside of time as energy beings. I personally feel that force in any form, except in defense is wrong, therefore I avoid organized religion as it seeks to control. But I also believe that there is more to us than just being self aware biochemical machines.
@shadowbankers As Stef rarely directly answers questions in comments, I'll take a stab at this. I strongly suspect that Stef would say something along the lines of; a zygote is not a human being until it's brain has developed to the point where it is capable of a higher level of awareness than that of a sleeping lizard. That collection of cells has the 'potential' to become a human being, but that is not the same thing as 'being' a human being.
@Panpiper To that my response would be at what point does this supra-somnic reptilian status occur. Who decides. Is he opposed to partial birth abortions? Second trimester?
@shadowbankers There is no clear point. Medical ethicists have spent much time agonizing over just this question, unpolluted with dogma. The best they have ever come up with is the trimester approach, that in the first trimester the zygote is clearly not human. In the last trimester it clearly is. The middle trimester is murky, where judgements must be made with regard to individual situations, if an abortion is being considered.
@shadowbankers My own answer likely would be different than that of Stef. I am pretty sure Stef would not mince words or vacillate around the issue and would take a firm stance that we are physical beings evolved enough to think thoughts some would define as spiritual. He does not believe in a non physical 'soul', of that I am certain.
@WorthlessCurrency I add my thanks. I virtually never tune into Stef's web site proper, always picking up my dose's of Stef here on Youtube. The only time I ever listen to a Sunday show is when it winds up here on Youtube. I have so many things to listen to I tend to do my triage in just this and a couple other places.
