I'm in the process of using one of my webcams for this. I use another software that can record it to my file server and I can access it privately to my house from anywhere. Also with dual monitors it's great.

anyways the wireless system makes sense. Even if they run me 60 bucks a camera it's worth it. I don't want to be drilling holes in my house and this way without wires it's just so much better.

You can use USB repeater's that will extended USB over 10 metres. You can also get

USB to Ethernet adapters these extend it much further then 3 meter too.

@thehaamster I should have updated this question, but I totally forgot I submitted it. After about an hour of playing with the camera, and trying to decode the Engrish instructions, I finally went into the router as a last resort and was able to set up the camera in about 5 minutes from the time I did that. It's been spying on me every since. Thanks for the answer though :D

You couls get a USB camera, make a hole through your wall, like somewhere up on the wall and make the USB camera go through it and connect it. No one can steal it that way.

Actually, full speed USB devices have a cable limit of 5m, not 3m. :-P I've been building my own security system with zoneminder, and believe me I'm been studying the limits on what I can do. low speed devices do have a limit of 3m though. It's all in the spec. Great vid though, I'm a big fan, keep them up!! :-)
