Pro bowlers sometimes wind up for a shot and realize that they don't like their release so decide to stop just before letting it go. I think that's what he decided to do here, but lost his balance and ultimately slipped into the lane.
I fell one time bowling. I slid all the way down the lane and hit the pins. The worse part was having the bowling machine rank me in the head and crush my balls.
Jason Belmonte was the only one to go and see if Josh was o.k. and try to help him. Great sportsmanship by Jason. In 30 years nobody will be putting their thumb in the ball -- they will all be bowling like Jason and Osku Palermaa. This is the beginning of the end for "old fashioned" one handed bowling.
I'm athletic and play a ton of sports. I used to think bowling was not a "real" sport, until I actually took it up and learned how incredibly hard the sport is (difficulty level is up there with golf). Anyone laughing at this needs to get real and go try to advance at the game. It's truly unfortunate the type of reputation the sport gets.
Not really a fail when the ball sticks on your hand. Anyone who has ever league bowled has had this happen. I used to end my slide right at the foul line & would fall if the ball stuck. I adjusted my approach to end my slide about 6 inches short of the line so I'd have room. Of course I had to adjust my line as well.
Poor guy, I read that the PBA wouldn't let him use his own bowling ball cause it didn't have an approved logo on it. Hate to offend those advertisers, so he had to get a ball drilled the day before, which obviously wasn't done right. Shame on the PBA for putting this guy in that position.
Josh Blanchards is a great bowler, if not he wouldn't be in WsOB TV and/or more so signed up by Storm. It could have happened to anybody, nice form actually except for the fall -- jitters proobably.
its how the other players dont know where to look and there is a hum which grows louder and louder as the collective thought of ' oh you dick!' gathers momentum
Go play one game. Have a perfect score .And come back and call it gay or anything else you want. It's a game of skill and chance, And that guy makes more money than you do in one game that you make in a year.
@stavrophotography Skill? What the hell are you talking about, bowling takes absolutely no skill. I can bowl a perfect game with a blindfold on.OMG you must be retarded and fat, I bet you consider bowling a sport too huh?
@6robyc I guarantee if you were put on a pba oil pattern on tv WITHOUT a blindfold you still wouldn't bowl a perfect game. Bowling takes lots of skill and it IS considered a sport.
Poor guy. He's fresh out of college and manages to make it on to national tv. Then this happens. I really feel sorry for him. Now people will remember him as "the guy who fell hard while bowling". I feel for him.
@bowltwowin how much I this guy really making ? What are you blowing him, nigs in basketball and football make a lot more and are pieces of shit so your point is ?
@jcbtrackbowler your the reason why we make fun of this sport or game, get a life you fuckin loser, move out of your mothers basement you 40 year old virgin
This is not funny. Do you laugh when football players lay on the turf, not able to get up? Do you laugh when a figure skater falls on the ice? He could have been seriously injured and its a good thing he wasn't. The people pushing this video (ESPN) are just turning bowling more into a mockery rather than the difficult sport and the grueling challenge just to make a show. By the way. Jason Belmonte shot 300 the next game. I'm sick of watching my sport, what I've dedicated my life to, die.
You know....I'm searching youtube trying to find actual videos of this guy bowling on TV. I found one of him bowling a 300 game which someone took with a camera from behind him, so it wasn't on TV. Anyway, the only videos I can find are like 300 copies of him falling into the gutter. Lame :P

Simple act of "trying to save the shot", only he couldn't stop the momentum. Not really all that uncommon in bowling, it's just most people are able to stop themselves.
@superhappyfunzone respect and the feeling of embarrassment, what if it was your team member or even opponent... watch the video of the goalie who scored on the other goalie, he doesn't jump up and down laughing at the other goalie. douche.
@Teknics Well that's because it was a sweet goal by said goalie. The other goalie didn't fall on his face and act all dramatic about it. It was just the way the ball bounced. You're cool though.
@dinggus Mature? The "sport" of bowling is entertainment. Not anything to be taken seriously. If you eff up while trying to entertain a crowd... then you should be laughed at. Now THAT'S entertainment.
