will the sub turn to line up the torps if I got it on automatic if I lock the scope? I kinda figured out the different color triangles mean range I think. currently ive been trying to line up the sub with the target by clicking the compass but I get all disorientated in the middle of a fight doing that. :P

It was an aircraft carrier that was laid down as a third of the Yamato class, it was later converted to an aircraft carrier (though her own air group was only 40 planes, she had extensive machine shops and facilities that allowed her to work on 120 planes. She was intended to be a floating repair ship of sorts).
lol the only i hate about sims is its almost realistic! Traveling from Hawaii to Wake island in real time is really booring! i had to watch a movie on my dvd and only take a glimpse of the game in case there are ships spotted
You can speed up time by a factor of... I wanna say 2000 or so, but I could be wrong. And if your crew spots a ship or aircraft, time automatically slows down to real time so you can assess the situation.
Depends what your idea of fun is. SH4 is a very detailed sim. And Sub work requires alot of patience. If you like WWII era submarine warfar. This and it's predecessor are excellent games. If not you'll be bored out of your mind.
I like SH4 so far. It has some pretty good details. But, I wish that the time compressor good be be better. I mean going form Pearl Harbor to the Solomon Islands is not fun.
I paid $29 at BestBuy. I have 3 version also. Both are good but I like 4 better. Next time put a spread on your torpedos so that they hit at different spots. Spent 4 years on subs - the real thing.
Hey I did somthing like that before in the turorial mission. But I had 2 fish hit it in the front, 1 in the middle and another one in the ass. It was like fireworks. =P

u sink shit in the pacific. u manage a crew, gain prestige which allows you upgrade your sub with better equipment, replace dead crew, skill them up, award medals, maintain moral, stay alive. The graphics in SH4 are great, but SH3 has a better single player campaign.
Nice job... but the real challenge comes in calculating all the numbers and putting all the info in in the realists TDC... im still learning how to use it, and if anyone can help me i'd greatly appreciate it... BTW nice cinematics, using just the in game camera you captured all the action :)
This game is soooo fucking hard....I love it :)

I need help with something
when you do the career and need to patrol off of japan how do you complete it?
It says to patrol and sinking enemy shipping I sink ships but doesn't say complete.
Anyone know why or can help?

its the late war version of the mogami class because they removed the rear turrets in order to put on a small flight deck for floatplanes.

This is not the Yamato , This is Mogami..
Mogami has it's 3 main guns on the front so it can carry scouts in it's back, but yamato has 2 Main guns in the back and 1 in the front...
Yamato had no Side marks (Yes, only 1 existed and no other )...This is Heavy cruiser Yamato was Battle Ship

There were 3 Yamato class ships
First was the Yamato a battleship
Second was the Musashi also a battleship
Third was the Shinano, which had the same hull but was converted into a Carrier,in which the Allies were incredibly lucky to sink

Only 3 out of the 4 torpedoes detonated. The 1st was a dud plus I saw only 3 explosions.

hehe.. well of course I was playing in "Noob" mode that's why the game calls it a "Tutorial" mission, it's designed to teach you the basics to play.
If I knew what I was doing I wouldn't have been playing the Tutorial.
