Hi! Awesome sound! :) Like it! I was wondering about the backing track! I have this as an assignment in school and was wondering if you would be so kind and send the backtrack to me? Please contact me!
Interesting, I hadn't heard the song played much before I playing it from the real book with my drummer. I was using mostly diminished (7b9) type lines over the circle of 5ths. I notice you prefer augmented (+5) or whole tone lines. I'm not very proficient using the raised 5th but I like how it sounds and I now have another direction to take my focus. Thanks for the upload. Nice playing, nice tone.
@1wayne12345 Thanks, Yeah I know that dim thing but I got run down on that all the time, trying out other types of altered alternatives keep things kinda fresh, thanks for listening,Vic.
wow! thank you for video. i too had some phrasing and fingering problems. i was playing the head and octave lower (how its written in the real book). how did you know to play it differently?(i'm still a young musician) it definately sounds better an octave higher for guitar. thank you!!!
@christophergradwohl Well besides all written scores I always listen closely to several recordings and there you hear it's an octave higher, the theme stands out more that way, always keep your ears wide open, play what you hear,Vic.
@christophergradwohl Remember that the guitar reads an octave lower than is actually written. This practice was started so that guitar music only had to have one staff of treble clef, without going into a ridiculous number of ledger lines. So, when a piano player reads a lead sheet like in the real book, he would automatically play it an octave higher than you would play it on guitar. I recommend playing it in both octaves.
Hi Dave, I get so much requests for backing tracks,I urge you to buy B.I.B. (band in box) it's a great piece of software in which you can make your own rhythm-tracks, great future investment,Vic,
Genius! You make it sound so simple, but so good. Thank you for the B section. I've been trying to work out the b section all week, and you solved my problem in less than 5 minutes. I am going to glean that one from you for my next performance! :)
I learning this for a sort of high school where you get trained for the Jazz Academy but it's in the same building as the Rotterdams Jazz academy) but I can't get the timing right. Thanks Santiago, all work of Bird(Charlie Parker) is great studying material that tickles the brain. I'm very glad I've been of help to you in motivating you to play Jazz, greets Vic.
Hi Bene,to be honest there are no easy Charly Parker tunes, have a look at ,Bill's Bounce, or try something like Autumn leaves if you're starting in Jazz, success and study hard, greets Vic.
Thanks, welcome in Youtube land again, check out my newer tunes cause you've been gone for a while at sea,did you have a nice encounter with a beautiful Mermaid? LOL greets Victor.
Hi Victor. It's a pleasure to see and hear you. This song its one of my favorites, great job. I also would like to hear your version of this song a higher tempo. Regards from Mexico. Gustavo.
I've got a big Suit-Case so I'll give it try, next to all great Fish and Banana's that will be a great Option, guess I'll have to pay tax over the good Wheater though, tropical greetings Vic.
Hahahahah, Vic you be making love to those guitar, because they be doing you right!! Outstanding Vic outstanding!! We are getting mighty close to 100 videos, hahahaha...!
Thanks Writer, before I reach 100 Vids,I'm taking a rest in the Caribbean Sun to tan my pale skin and give my mind a rest, many people may think this is an easy job (without payment) but it ain't. All the best man, greets Vic.(I'm going to Curacao to look up my brother).
Gladly done, now I'll be away for a little while, going to visit my family in Curacao (Netherlands Antilles) a small break is always nice. Catch you later on the Tube, glad you enjoyed this Bebop theme, greets Vic.
Hi Vic, 5 again!!!!! What a fist bridge! It sounds like it was written like that. Second also, same spirit, different approach. Pure be-bop, the relaxed way. Keep swingin, man!
Hi Jogi, those bridges where always left to the players imagination, the first has a strong augmented character,by turning those arpeggios around I moved them up in half steps through the whole bridge, kinda liked that sound, the first guitarist I heard using that was "Wim Overgauw" (died some years ago)(incredible Dutch Jazz guitarist). Greets Vic.
Hi Victor.. Back for a second listen! Yes, this is a good one from the old days. You got me brushing up my bebop scales again, my main man! (In between wallpapering!)
Well John I think it's a great distraction practicing scales between the wallpapering activities, both useful but on very different levels,LOL greets Vic.
I just glued the 3rd string to the 9th fret.. It's ok, I use that note a lot! Shan't be able to bend it though... I just found the chords to 'Scrapple' btw, so I'll be practising tomorrow Victor!
Hi John, thanks, I love you guys with so much "Heart for the Music" and keeping Jazz Alive and kicking,we must never forget all those wonderful Musicians who aren't here anymore but their heritage lives on and on,and we're still building on it,discovering fresh possibilities, greets Amigo.
Hi John(Seluron) is it because it's the same chord sequence?
Like Parker wrote Donna Lee over the Indiana changes, those guys where good at that, writing new themes over existing chord patterns, swing it out brother,Vic.
Hi Paul, thanks for listening and always giving your support,I'm really touched by all this attention and great comments I'm getting every time, looking out to your next Video,Amigo, musical greetings my friend,Vic.
that one just skips merrily along the street, doesn't it? what a nice feeling. i'm always floored by real guitar invention, and you have that, my friend.
Hi my acoustic friend,Charlies Music was so Vital, uplifted, full of refinement, up to this day an inspiration for Musicians interested in the "Art of Improvisation". What you're doing is great Tony, thanks for dropping in and listening, greets Vic.
Hi Mary, I thought let me hit my Tube audience with a Bebop Tune from the C.Parker days.I had a teacher once who said,Charly Parker was the "Bach" of Jazz and I think he's very right, some guys have an Impact like a comet hitting the Earth(so to speak then,LOL) a great hug for you,Vic.
Hi Pablo, just a few very nice words from you,it means a lot coming from such a great guitarist, iI've been checking you out, you're a hell of a player, and beyond all a mighty fine person, greetings Vic.
Good guitarists play guitaristic lines. Excellent guitarists play horn lines. Great guitarists like you go beyond both. Why aren't you famous (rhetorical question - There are a lot of masters that aren't famous - it's a marketing thing) Thank you once more.
Lance, I'm speechless and moved by your comment, at a certain point I made a commitment to serve the Music with all I've got, though I've been through many rough times I've been able to maintain,I hope to hold on to it and to expand, great comment, thanks a lot, greetings Vic.
Thanks brother Scott, I don't know where this whole Tube journey will take us but uptil now it's been a magnificent time that no one can take away from us, greets Amigo.
Thanks Carlos, now you're fueling me man with such supportive words. And Pablo's here too,I feel surrounded by all these wonderful Cats, all of them with so much love in their hearts for Music, incredible, greets Vic.
Great playing on a great C. Parker tune. I got my daily allotment of Vitamin C on this one! Love those apples, and your "bits and pieces" on this tune was superb! Can't say enough thanks for your great videos. Take care.
Thanks Rich, it's through what you say bout the daily vitamins, you know Rich if I don't play for a while I start to feel empty inside, just got to jump in that river of joyful improvisation, greets Vic.
Great Nolle nice that you're back and kicking, now stay here don't wander off again, many nice things are happening lately,All the best my friend, greets Victor.
Wow Victor, this is just another perfect performance... as I see and hear you playing, you have the exact sound. It looks so easy, seeing you play. It's great music.
By the way, I like the title too, but what is scrapple?schraapsel?
Thanks Roeleke, it's exactly what you mentioned, schraapsel,I also like the Title,it's kinda funny , often those Bebop tunes ,where without title and in the studio while recording someone would come up with a strange funny thing. Thanks for the nice comment, greets Vic.

What a bridge, Vic! And the hole solo is very good, too. No "Parker copy" approach, really nice! Greetings,

Victor,
Great playing on a great C. Parker tune. I got my daily allotment of Vitamin C on this one! Love those apples, and your "bits and pieces" on this tune was superb! Can't say enough thanks for your great videos. Take care.

Wow Victor, this is just another perfect performance... as I see and hear you playing, you have the exact sound. It looks so easy, seeing you play. It's great music.
By the way, I like the title too, but what is scrapple?schraapsel?
Your tubefriend Roeleke
Twirretwarre 4 years ago
Thanks Roeleke, it's exactly what you mentioned, schraapsel,I also like the Title,it's kinda funny , often those Bebop tunes ,where without title and in the studio while recording someone would come up with a strange funny thing. Thanks for the nice comment, greets Vic.
