This is as good as any song Chuck does in my opinion, except for Roll over Beethoven, which I think is one of the greatest songs ever written (Genius words and music). I am frustrated with this Youtube version only because it does not come across my computer loudly and clearly. I remember seeing this on MTV Classics in the 80's and you could crank it. This version begs to be played loud. I think the band is great, Chuck is on his game, and they are in synch. Classic when played loud.
Used to see Billy Kinsley (of the Merseys) and Dave Harrison, the drummer, playing the Beachcomber Club in Liverpool in the early 70's. Their band was called 'The Click'. Great times.
as usual, he is alone on stage, as usual he can make it all by himself. Must add that the guy w/ accoustic guitar could win the contest vs the piano player. Chuck berry & the Retard's .. worst band than in Toronto.
Ah come on folks he is WAY out of tune. The solo is painfull. Dispointing. Saw him live in the early 90's and he was the same, like his guitar hadnt been tuned. I still love his records but he should tune his guitar when he plays live.
@lemmy351 the guitar starts of perfectly in tune its only at the end when it goes out a bit but there's some licence by chuck there, the songs about destruction - i love the way he makes it sound like a train whistle.
Actually Ike Turner is the King Of Rock And Roll. Rocket 88 predates this song by several years. Check it out and look it up. Oh, and Elvis was a fucking joke.
Das Hemd von Chuck Berry als auch die Restband sind klasse. Er ist ja eh immer oft "live" launisch gewesen und für viele Musiker eine echte Tortour gewesen. Aber hier zeigt er, daß es auch anders ging.
Better than avearge live Chuck.
