A couple of questions from someone beginning Jodan because of loss of the use of my right shoulder. It appears that Chiba sensei has little or no zanshin. Is this not a requirement with Jodan kamae? Also, the men at 2:41 seems to be really really deep almost at the tsuba- Is this ok when using Jodan? Again, beginner so just wondering.
@1canexpat As a beginner, you should follow thru and do your zanshin. Also, I agree that it was deep almost half the shinai but I think his seme to kikentai ich was already good enough.. But better to ask your sensei...
@sungminro thanks for that. Truly appreciate the advice. As a beginner it's difficult for me to judge both seme and kikentai ichi. Much more experience required.
@1canexpat Zanshin is like a feeling of keep the guard... no opens, no relax posture even after defeat your oponent... to learn that, beginners as we... do suriashi geting a distance, turn over and back in kamae... If you notice, after most of Chiba sensei ippons, the oponents of Chiba's sensei don't atack... he keep his guard no opens...and even when the oponent atack he don't make with a feeling of ippon...i believe that's chiba sensei's zanshin! i may be wrong for being just a beginner! lol
