It's kind of ironic that Ubisoft is now implementing an Online Pass system that screws with people with used game sales, which actually, screws with people with new game purchases, since it devalues the game and you don't get any trade in value, which is vital for new game purchases.
Ubisoft can just go f_ck themselves in their stupid DRM and now their stupid Uplay Playpass online pass system.
In other words, their new Driver game is going to have a $9.99 pass. In other words: $9.99 bin.
in fact DRM will encourage extensive hacking, mofified rom that bypass the DRM system, only downside is i doubt those hack will allow online multiplayer
I have to say, PC gamers disappointed me. I love PC gaming, and I don't wanna see it die, however if people continue to pirate on PC, it is going to die. Please, if you guys really love PC gaming, and want it to thrive, STOP FUCKING PIRATING! The more you pirate, the less developers wanna publish their games for PC. If you can't afford a 30 dollar game on steam, you should not be gaming. Not to mention the countless, amazing deals on steam.
@BigdogWitBigdog Crytek WANTS you to believe that PC gamers causes piracy, which isn't true. What about people pirate games they already own? What about intrusive DRM?
@BigdogWitBigdog the last time i purchase game from steam or amazon.com(digital download) i had a problem which conclude me to pirating for a crack or non corrupted files, so imo, game that you pirate actually more stable than the legally purchase one.. i have 2 l4d(pirate and steam version) same story, so it's not cause the cost of it, the game can be like $10 or $3, if it corrupted by start or doesn't work properly that resulting need a crack, why not just pirate it first then buy it...
although I hate the concept of 'always on DRM', just about a month ago, I bought Assassin's Creed II for PC, and surprisingly, not once did I lose connection. I was as surprised as the next person. I did hear that when ACII first came out, their DRM servers were DDOS'ed, so that means the concept of DRM fails.
Ubisoft and EA should be slapped back nito thier senses and get rid of DRM SECUROM. Pc guys are purchasing new graphics card and upgrading the monitors screens to resolutions of 2560x1600 just to have the best thrill especially with the new eyefinity technology. So purchasing games is not an issue. Dufus. Pc games do not cost as much as consoles
ACII does say on the box that a permanent internet connection is required to play.
BUT, by purchasing the game you're fulfilling your end of the deal - by not being able to support it and denying your ability to play, Ubisoft are in violation of the deal - thus, if you want to return the product to a store, take it back citing the reason as its FAULTY.
Personally I think this DRM is borderline illegal. They're taking money from their customers, a large portion of which can't use it. Criminal!
ubisofts heading for total FAIL. why to hell should anyone be on the internet PERMANENTLY while playing a fucking offline game! they just slap their customers right in the face. i thougt about buying splinter cell, cool game actually, but with this.. let's just call it bullshit.. on it i won't pay money for it, i won't even play it at all. when ea came up with their stupid drm all over their games i stopped purchasing their stuff and they learned that they suck big times. and so will ubi!
Yea they actually did put a big icon on the front of the game box that says all authoritatively "A PERMANENT INTERNET CONNECTION IS REQUIRED TO PLAY THIS GAME"
DRM is still slapping their customers in the face though.
this is bullshit , i usualy buy original games ( in brasil they are REALLY expensive, around 239,00 a half minimum pay ) in january i downlaoded mass effect 2 pirate, but when i installed the game i see a masterpiece and a lot of cool dlcs, so i saved a liitle money and purshased it, i usually buys ubi original games, but now i felling like a dumb so i NEVER gonna buy any game with drm bullsht, respect me as a consumer and i respect you as a enterprise fuck you ubi"""
You're welcome man. Creative Commons Chiptune music... priceless. I hope you saw that I put all of the track's details in the description box. Thanks again for going CC.
@TTT1776 It's better to let everyone use what you have created without bullshit, instead of doing like the MPAA and RIAA and hunt down their customers and put them in jail.
Lol is ubisoft stupid? Years back, game companies required you to have the cd CONTINUOUSLY in the drive to play their game. Soon after the nocd crack came out. This is going to be cracked in like a week, and only the modified pirated version is going to be able to play offline. EVEN IF YOU buy the game for the publisher, you're still seeding to pirates lol =p. Ubisoft used to be one of my favorite companies... What happened to them?!
That sounds fun lol, but I believe this is just 1 step in this direction, soon all games will be on a cloud, which is pretty good if you have a low end machine and want to play latest games with high quality, but you will need bandwidth, BUT if your network speed is slower, you don't stand a chance... Also this will most likely cost you a monthly price AFTER buying the game, and it would help on the "pirating". Oh yea the video before was great just watched it.
good video. (here from Reddit). Just wanted to say that DRM only encourages piracy. They should know this by now! Too bad...Ubisoft makes some great games....
This isn't to much different then what EA does now. Although Ubisoft doesn't put out the crap games IMO like EA. I'm already boycotting EA for that reason, I'll just add Ubisoft to my list.
You need to get with the times. EA has turned itself around and is regaining some credibility in the industry (in my opinion anyway.) They're putting out new IP's, taking some risks and actually making some decent games (Dead Space, Mirror's Edge, Dante's Inferno, Bad Company 2, etc.)
Yea, they relaease some good games, but those games are made by other companies that EA has bought, this coincides mainly in the games that are in the process of being released or atleast in the process of creating them.
After that EA will force the companies to tune down violence (to lower ESRB ratings). to rush the games as much as possible to cut down the production time and therefore losing quality (Compare: Mass Effect 1 and 2).
But they've been less overbearing and are giving the studios more resources and time to finish games. I also haven't seen them buy out any new studios and dismantle them / starve them of resources until they imploded in recent history. I was one of the many EA haters in the past but they're winning me over right now. As for Mass Effect I really don't care about the series or Bioware games in general.
lol loved the skit. As always I believe everything is worth what its purchaser will pay for it. Which means if I think it's worth 0$ that's how much I will pay for it. Back in the day that meant borrowing the game from a friend and trying it out, now I have lots of "friends". I still spend the same amount of money on video games and I still wait for a game to go on sale to pay the price I think it deserves. The only thing that changed for me is not buying from companies like Ubisoft.

All EA labeled games aren't crap.
Though, the games that aren't crap comes from companies EA bought during the process of making the games, Mass Effect 1 for instance^^
