@Tulsaman50, Obviously, as the population of the city drops by the thousands every year, the crime rate will show a drop also. Look at the crime rates of surrounding towns and counties. Since they imploded the projects in B'more, crime in the counties has risen. Baltimore is a great and terrible place. GOD help us, cause the politicians and Obama's change aint doin shit. I know that other cities like newark, new orleans, and detroit are dangerous too. I remember hearing that the race riots of the mid 20th century wrecked up the cities neighboorhoods. Another thing I remember is that drug incidents like the crack epidemic was a big cause too. I do have one question: As of 2009, what is the ranking of Baltimore's crime?

All this violence is basically due to one thing, the criminalization of drugs. Whenever you make something illegal that people want, violence is the end result. We need to stop putting non-violent offenders in prison, we need to end the War on Drugs now. Only then will communities like Baltimore see a change in their murder and crime rates.
