  • the music is Danse Macabre, by Franz Liszt

  • Nuns kissing a demon's asshole . . . Only in Denmark, huh?

  • The soundtrack sounds like "Simple Symphony of Benjamin Britten...."

  • pause 1:55 the screenshot for the cover of mayhem's album ''chimera''

  • I can't believe this is from the early 20's... It looks too extreme to be from the 60's let alone the 20's :O

  • DIS IS A SHIT.

  • What is the name of the music played in the background?? I love it and I can't find it

  • Como puede haber gente tan inculta, a las cuales no les guste esta Obra de Arte..

  • pada 12; Not too much into the extreme metal myself, but Witchfynder 1982 has done a GREAT video for the BURNING SAVIOURS song "Night of the Witch" using footage from this film!

  • Great job! You gave this excellent, dark film the respect it deserves. Great music as well.

  • After the Monks have finished flogging each other, they should go and kiss the Devil's arse! Nothing better than seeing some sexually frustrated young men performing the OSCULUM OBSCENUM!

  • Great trailer with nice baroque music...shame it isn't scored by MERCYFUL FATE, THE DEVIL'S BLOOD or GHOST-now that would REALLY be somthing to behold! Boiling unbaptised babies, kissing the Devil's arse, Demons wanking, monks flogging each other (mmm...) Nuns having no fun and poking their toungs out, trampling on the cross, the Devil pouring a chalice of his unholy semen over a naked woman...What's NOT to like!?!

  • @eibon81 You should check out Fukpig's videos for "Horror is here" and "Sadism in the name of God." Awesome band!

  • FILTHY...

  • This looks like a good companion movie to Ken Russell's "The Devils"!

  • @trukkstop1

'The Devils' is infantile prechewed pablum compared to this.

  • Some of the devils and demons in this look amazingly well done for the early 1920s

  • woow... this is something that really scares me!... movies of this time dont do this to me

  • whats the song in the backround?

  • @TheIncredibleBAGMAN see post below.

  • the Danse Macabre by Camille Saint-Saens is the music playing

  • @TheIncredibleBAGMAN

danse macabre by camille saint saens

  • Homemade? Wow. Great job! This is one of my all-time favorite silent films. The Criterion Collection DVD is so very much worth the price.

  • I didn't really liked it. I don't mean to be a troll, I just though it was kinda boring. The information on witchcraft was very interesting. However it was presented very slowly.

Great work into putting the video toghether, it makes a great trailer.

  • muy buena^^

  • fuck me!!!! amazing special effects for the times in which it was made despite the creepyness of it

  • amazing... where can I get the uncuted version of this????

  • @GenocideKommando1 if you're in the US find The Criterion Collection dvd.

  • Wow, from what I can tell from this video, they cut so much from the 60's version... which I watched. Maybe I don't remember it well enough, but it looks like a ton of footage was cut

  • @YellowTurtle13 the 60's version (called Witchcraft Through The Ages) is about half the length of Haxan which is its source. And of course has the narration by William Burroughs.

  • This Movie Is Swedish And The Movie Title Is Häxan But Since U Don't Got Ä You Think Its Haxan And Häxan Actully Means Witch At Swedish :)

  • Nice use of Grieg!

  • @alextemplemusic thanks but it's Saint-Saens, not Grieg. there are definite similarities.

  • Oops. :)

  • Great work

  • Amazing. Extraordinary.

    1922?!

  • @ValentineDelatour This is a very classical from the silent era in Denmark/Sweden. This was also the first film to introduce special effects, too. One of my all-time favorites as #24 on my top 25 favorite films list.

  • @tapesan09 Movies have used special effects almost as soon as the art form was born. Georges Méliès made a film career out of beautifully crafted fantasy films, the most famous of which was his "Trip to the Moon" in 1902; predating Häxan by a good 20 years. That said, Häxan is a beautiful example of classic silent film special effect use. Enjoy!

  • thank you sooo much!!

  • woww!! Could you tell me what is the name of the song wich appeared on this film??

  • Danse Macabre by Camille Saint-Saens
