  • Will a fire wire 4 pin to usb work for capturing mim dv footage\

  • I love the 3 second pause at 0:40 .

  • hey thanks for the video, ive been trying all day to try to capture video thru my firewire cable, the computer recognises it, and the drivers are installed, but still its says that it cant capture any video? please help

  • wow thk you for explaning that firewire is so damn useless

  • @burnsalan15 how do you gather such a dim conclusion? Did you not see a very imporant aspect @1:57 ? ? to take firewire away is to dumb down computer society

  • @oatstao nice, you can run up your systems power with so much junk whats your point?

  • @burnsalan15 your thinking is skewed by marketing hypnosis tact. Not my problem. You might as well be a soldier with that mentality. If you can't find good in ANYTHING that works, and push it aside from something like USB 2, then you're the one who's got the short end of the stick. - I use my gear in a professional -paid- working environment (audio mastering)... so that's double the relevance . You could start being fair and thinking about wider scope of life.

  • @oatstao and anyway why would you need all that crap taking up your valuable desk space, most of the shit he had there is all old and outdated, so why would you want it laying around in your workspace?

  • @burnsalan15 who said anyone has to have the maxed out chain in front of them. That was simply a demonstration, nimrod.

  • @FireWireExpert dude is that your job or do you just kniw alot about FireWire

  • Much to my surprise my new ZT Affinity computer does not have a firewire port. Any suggestions on which PCI card to install in it? Is it rocket science or can I install it myself?

  • @apologiamixer its pretty easy to install

  • hi, i have IEEE 1394 port in my laptop ASUS X83VM-X2, and i want to buy an edirol Fa-66 firewire audio interface. Will it work with my firewire port ? cause i heard something about that firewire chipset must be something Texas instruments or smth.

  • Thanx man your video are nice n simple

    liked it

  • lol he's funny

  • Then you should have even more time on your hands to answer questions.

  • I will not be able to help you with your question.

Sorry for the inconvenience. I have left the FireWire community due to a lay-off and a tight job market.

  • i have a question for you.....i hope its a good one hmmm whats the different between a firewire and external hard drive??? itz cus i want it to get one of this but i dont know which one......oh and by the way xplain in details cuz i want it to get one for my studio recording

  • @buzHOok Firewire is the connection to your computer. Firewire is better than usb since it does not use your system bus, but uses it's own bus. So your system will have more ressources to deal with audio recordings for example. You can buy an external firewire harddrive and use it in your studio. But make sure it has 7200rpm. It should also have the oxford chipset.

  • Laptop runs XP home with service pack 3.

All drivers and updates are current and there's no issues with fire-wall etc.

Anyone know if there's a setting on the Security Console or registry that can be tweaked to make the Ricoh IEEE1394 card recognise my camcorder?

I've tried MS patches but they don't make a difference.

Since I know the camera works on other PC's and friends laptop it's not the camera or I-Link/Firewire cables causing the problem.

    Any advice please

  • I've been using Firewire for uploading videos to my laptop (Dell Inspiron 6000) for a few years now. Just over a month ago Windows Movie Maker refuses to recognise that my Sony DV camera has been connected up. I know the leads are good and the camera works perfectly on other PC's via IEEE1394 but for some reason my laptop now won't connect up to my DV camcorder. I've run BIOS/start-up checks and everything shows up as fully functional. Device Manager shows the Firewire but not the camcorder

  • I have friends in the audio business and they tell me USB is for the cheap stuff and FIreWire is in the stuff the professional musicians use.

  • @FireWireExpert i have a question.. i am also a musician and i record music via a usb external audio interface, when i do extreme audio processing the program stops and says my cpu is too high, for some reason i believe that if i were to use a firewire interface it would reduce the amount of work and processing on my computer, is this true?

  • Firewire is very big with audio too. Didn't see one of these in your firewire demonstration here. I use firewire with my firewire audio card. The firewire connection is very handy for fast audio connection.

I use M-audio firewire 410. Texas instrument chipsets yield the best stable results, and are required to get ProTools to work.

  • Thanks for the informative video. I'm looking to design an in-car communications bus based on FireWire 800 and possibly the next revision of it that can do 3.2Gbps. Time to do my research!
