  • what sorts of skin benefits did you notice?

  • what sorts of skin benefits did you notice?

  • I love green smoothies, it knocks out all the junk snacking... so I basically have it between meals and it keeps me on an even keel, without feeling the pangs of hunger. I tend to get erratic and short tempered when hungry :\

I reached 3 cups in one sitting and maxed out at 4.5 cups in one day.

I'm very proud, I think there will be a strong generation of retirees in the next 30-40 years.

    Anyway thanks for this post.

  • @shawnk82 Thanks so much for your feedback. You make a great point about using smoothies to reduce snacking. If you aren't hungry enough for a green smoothie, you aren't really hungry! :) It sounds like you are doing great. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. :)

  • I know this vid was a while ago, but I found it upon searching for smoothie testaments (also to invite others to do this challenge as well)... My family has always eaten what well call 'blend', but is now popularly called 'green smoothie'. Your vid was a perfect example of expectations and results, so I thus decided to repost.

Anyway, I'm on day 7, I've already lost about 4 lbs, and waist shrinkage by 1 inch.

  • @shawnk82 Awesome! Thanks for sharing and watching and congratulations on your healthy weight loss. :)

  • i can't believe you don't crave cooked food at all! that is amazing!

  • Can you give me more information? I have some questions.

I would like to do this I am vegan.

Can I lift weights and do cardio while on green smoothies?

How I am supposed to drink smoothies at work?

How many green smoothies can I have in a day?

How should I store my green smoothies?

I need some info I want to drink nothing but green smoothies no food just the smoothies to drop weight fast while I exercise.

  • @CrissySnow I'm not an expert. There are lots of books and web sites about green smoothies, but here are some basics. Do you intend to drink green smoothies exclusively or add them to your diet? If you drink them exclusively, make sure you get enough calories. Bananas, mangos and dates are higher in calories so you will have more energy to get through our day. Add soaked almonds, hemp protein or Ultimate Meal to make it more substantial and add slow-buring fuel that will last longer.

  • @CrissySnow If you just add green smoothies to your day without taking anything away, you don't need to add protein powder or nuts, but as you are lifting weights, you may want the extra boost. You can do any kind of workout on green smoothies providing they contain enough calories to fuel your workout. You can add superfoods too. You can drink as many as you wish a day, but you may want to start with 20-30 oz in the morning and work your way up.

  • @CrissySnow Green smoothies may give you diarrhea at first if you aren't used to a lot of fruit at once, so that's why I suggest adding them gradually. Start with a big jar in place of your regular breakfast and do that for at least a few days until you acclimate. Add more throughout the day when you are ready. Finally, if you want to do them exclusively, make sure you get enough and that they have enough calories, and greens to supply what you need for your workouts. Check out Boutenko's books.

  • @CrissySnow Also check out the green smoothie challenge web site. Thanks for watching. :) Happy green smoothies!

  • wow you're hot.

  • @thrivesurvive it's going great just over a week of nothing but green smoothies and 1 healthy dinner a day and I feel great and have already lost 17 pounds in this short time looking forward to the future and this has even inspired me to quit smoking now too :)

  • @ClickBoom206 wow! That's awesome! Green smoothies really do improve lives. :)

  • Thanks for the info, I'm way over weight and just started the green smoothie challenge today I'm hoping that after 14 days of committed diet and exercise (I have never done either) I won't want to go back to my old ways and instead continue the green smoothie for along time to come :)

  • @ClickBoom206 Thanks for watching. I hope your green smoothie challenge is going great. I'm very happy for you for deciding to make a change. If you mess up, just keep making steps in the right direction. Never give up.

  • Thanks for info, you look great.

  • The diarrhea is telling you that your body is tryingt to get rid of Parasites. WORMs so eat more garlic, and pumkin seeds

  • @Wickedrub Thank you for your helpful suggestion! :)

  • Wow!! You are hot...5 lbs or not!!

  • @macmen85 Thank you for your thoughtful complement :)

  • @thrivesurvive You're welcolm beautiful! Been raw for 6 months...learning about green smoothies!

  • @macmen85 Green smoothies are wonderful. Don't use mustard greens, so matter what people say. They are really peppery and not very nice in a smoothie, even in small amounts. Same with arugula. :)

  • I love how honest you are! About the diarrhea and the gas, thanks for spelling it like it is :D :D And good for you!! Glad you're healthier, and you've really highlighted the pros of green smoothies, which was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the informative info!!

  • how come no new videos :(

  • @shwoogy21 I'm sorry. I have just been so insanely busy.

  • Comment removed

  • oh yes we got 7 huge organic collard leaves, 1 tbls chia, 1 tbls raw honey, 1tbls coconut oil, 1 banana, 2 hand fulls organic mixed berries and 1/2 tsp cinnamon, vitamix the crap out of it and slowly pour down throat, yummy! lol

  • @shwoogy21 sounds great!

  • I care about your diarrhea!!! :) Great video, I'm about get my green smoothie on right now!! :)

  • @shwoogy21 haha! thanks! I hope it's a good green smoothie. :)

  • People who already have inflammatory bowel disease(Crohn's Disease, Ulcerative Colitis)would probably be ill advised to start on a green smoothie diet. It would only worsen the symptoms they have.

  • @kwixotic I don't think I have any of those. Thank you for the advice.

  • Ok ok sounds good but where's the bathingsuit shot...

  • Thanks for this. I will certainly start my green smoothie challenge this summer holiday when - although I am busy & doing lots - I will not be working. However, here's a thought, I'm travelling for three days at one stage, could I blend some green smoothies and take them with me on the coach? Or would they go off?

  • what did a typical day look like for you in terms of what you ate?

  • @kelceyharrison1 Gosh. I don't remember, it was so long ago. Probably mostly big salads, nut pates, raw desserts.

  • Thank you for sharing your experience. I lasted 6 days and on the sixth day i was SO hungry and I just wanted to eat something. So my personal desire won and I went and ate a lot and for the last 2-3 days I've just been binge eating ( cooked food addiction) does anyone have any advice for me?

  • @Feelingbetterful I'm sorry to hear that. When I did the green smoothie challenge, I simply added green smoothies to my day. I didn't drink them exclusively because I knew it would lead to binge eating. My best advice would be to eat your normal, healthy raw food diet, and just add the green smoothies, without taking anything away. The binge will pass. I think 4 days is punishment enough. ((hugs))

  • @epigenesis81 haha! sorry about that! you can always count on some GI talk in my videos. Be forewarned. :) Thanks for watching.

  • I have a question, raw food has bacterial growth and pesticides used on vegetables while harvesting, how do we overcome it? It may affect us.

  • @maha002 It's best to eat organic and wash your produce with veggie wash. I also prefer, when possible, to buy from a co-op or local farm, rather than the super market, because far fewer dirty humans handle the product.

When you eat raw, your natural resistance to germs increases dramatically, so you are less likely to be effected. You are also far more likely to get germs from food prepared around areas where animal products are also made. I am vegan, so I avoid cross contamination.

  • love your channel and you've inspired me to start my own raw food/green smoothie challenge. I loved it and had great results. even decided to share my own experience. thanks for the inspiration!! :)

  • @thefitnessgirl9 That's great! Thanks for your thoughtful comment and for watching!

  • @xtreem1475 Thank you so much! :)

  • hey girl i care about your diarea if no one else does 3:42. :-D

  • she was detoxing...

  • thank you for watching :)

  • roflmfao nice dude

  • A natural cure for 'the runs" is rasberry leaf tea. I got the runs the day before an exam and dreaded the 3 hrs of the exam room. I took fresh rasberry leaf and made a tea the morning of my exam ans hay prosto, Problem sloved.

  • Cool! I didn't know that. Thanks! :)

  • raw meat can kill you doctors say

  • Comment removed

  • she's a raw vegan so she doesnt eat meat

  • What the hell is that freaking whirring noise in the background. It drove me freaking bonkers.

  • It's the camera. It drives me bonkers too. I just got a digital camera so no more noise on my most recent videos. Thanks for watching.

  • Smoothies give me adominal cramps, gas, and diarrhea. It's really hard to stick to it, because I need to be out and about all day. Should I just stick to it?

  • Maybe you are allergic to an ingredient. I think adding lots of bananas to your green smoothie will help. What are you putting in your smoothies? How much do you drink? What do you eat?

  • Recently, I had a green juice blended with a banana and bee pollen which gave me diarrhea for an hour. I also had a smoothie made with almond milk+blueberries+hemp protein powder+spinach and that gave me severe cramps (I was at work when I drank it which SUCKED). I am planning on going on a smoothie "fast" this weekend and see how many days it takes for me to get used to these smoothies.

  • Those might just be detoxification symptoms.

  • now i want to start the challenge lol

  • you should!

And Raw Fu is starting a new challenge Aug 10th.

  • I actually have only been on the green smoothies for a week and have already lost between 6-7 pounds. It really does give tons of energy. You ever eat raw tacos? No meat of course, I can email you the recipe if you want, or post it here for others to see too.

  • That's great! :) Are you eating a raw diet with green smoothies added, or all green smoothies, or cooked with smoothies? I don't like most raw tacos because they have too many nuts and oil for my tummy, but I eat pate with lettuce wraps. Each time I made it differently depending on what I have on hand. I will probably have some tonight. It's mostly veggies processed with soaked almonds and seasonings.

  • Sounds like a great plan. I know what you mean about cooking. It's deeply ingrained in our psyche and a very hard habit to break. I am currently making a dish of squash and potatoes with curry seasonings in the pressure cooker. I'll probably only have a little (it's mostly for my husband), but I still take pleasure in making it. Have a beautiful evening!

  • How many calories do you get daily from your smoothies?

  • WHen starting the green smoothie lifestyle it is common for some to become slighty sick. This is the body's way of releasing the toxins from your body and cleansing the body. If it lasts too long then there is something in your soothies that you are either allergic to or you are combining the wrong ingredients.

  • Thank you for the advice. What, exactly is thick?

  • I'm not sure what you are asking. Thick as in the consistancy of the smoothie? You can drink it as thick or thin as you want. I know some people have texture issues that may require them to thin the smoothies out with more water. I like mine thick so I always add chia seeds. Plus chia seeds are great for aiding your body to absorb nutrients and water. Just make sure you drink plenty of water with them or they can suck the water from your cells b/c they are so absorbant. Good Luck.

  • I was referring to your previous comment in which you said it is "common for some to become slightly thick". I just wasn't sure what you were talking about.

I have green smoothies daily and enjoy them quite thick, but I see what you mean, that some people might prefer to make theirs less thick. Thank you for your advice. I didn't know that about chia seeds. I love them. Good point about water. :)

  • Lol. On my end it says "sick" not "thick". Sorry for the confuson. Blessed Be. Maiwyn

  • Oh my! I read it 4 times to try to make sense out of it and each time I read "thick", but now I clearly read "sick"! No wonder I miss questions on tests! :) My apologies for the confusion. I must do better.

  • Lol. THats alright. I do that sometimes too, thats why I went back and checked myself, lol. But I'm just starting the green smoothie thing, so right now I drink the smoothies all day long and eat one meal a day. It may be raw or cooked depending on how I feel at the time. You know sometimes standing over a hot stove and cooking your food can have theraputic effects, so that's most likely when I would cook. Blessed Be. Maiwyn

  • 112 lbs? How tall are you?

  • about 5'3" with a very small skeleton. My fat percentage is still a bit higher than i would like because I need to build more muscle, but I am happy between 110 and 115 lbs. Why do yo ask?

  • You are so cute and you look so young. Whatever you'r doing keep it up. For the loose stool I had it and I ate steemed potato with dark brown spice jut don't no the name but it kind of tastes like alittle bitter. Take care

  • Thank you so much. I now eat lots of bananas, which keep me very regular. Steamed potatoes sound divine. :)

  • i thought you can do it for 100 days?

  • You can drink green smoothies for 100 days or even all your life if you want. They are highly nutritious and have everything we need. I didn't drink green smoothies exclusively for this challenge, but you can. I try to drink at least 32 oz of green smoothie a day. I'm drinking mango, collard, pineapple right now. :)

  • what did you have in your green smoothies and did you eat anything else on this challenge

  • I ate a regular raw food diet while on this challenge. My green smoothies were mostly greens with some fruit and I often had savory smoothies which were veggies with greens (no fruit), plus spices.

I'm trying 80/10/10 now, and have gone back to green smoothies daily. Now I add more fruit to them.

  • maybe some probiotics will help your loose stool, but thanks for sharing

  • thank you for the suggestion. :)

  • you look gorgeous...keep it up... you might end up more beautiful than you are now

  • You are so sweet. Thank you very much. :)

  • You look fabulous and very healthy. I'm getting a blender because I want to incorporate healthy smoothies into my diet. Thanks so much for the inspiration!

  • thank you very much. I fell off the green smoothie wagon last week when i lost my resource for produce. i need to start again.

  • More vidoes...please? My sister sews period costumes that are out of this world! I, on the other hand, have not been given that gift!

  • I'm sorry I haven't made a vide in so long. I have just been so busy. Does your sister have a web site for her work?

  • Great review. I haven't started with the smoothie's yet, but I plan to get started soon. It sounds great and it's a good way to get your greens in.

  • matrixm777, Thank you. It's so easy to start. I am enjoying my morning smoothie right now. If you live near a Costco, one of the fastest (although certainly not ideal) ways to start is with a big bag of spinach, a big bag of frozen tropical fruit, and some bananas from costco. It's not organic, but it's cheap, and you get lots. I add oranges too.

  • I bought spinach, banannas and apples last night so I'm set.

Thanks again and here's to your health...

  • That's awesome. Let us know how it goes for you! Someone told me that the apples tend to make a smoothie get thick when the pectin is released, so you have to drink them faster. I haven't tried apples in my GS yet. Have an awesome week!

  • I had my first one this morning. It was good. I just added a little more water to eliminate the thickness.

I couldn't drink all that was in the blender so I refrigerated the rest for tonight. I hope it will still be good.

  • I grew spinach in a container and it had done very well.

  • That's a great idea. I want to garden more. I have been so busy. My poor plants are really left to fend for themselves.

  • Great job! Can you grow your own greens(organic of course)?

  • izodoz, Thank you! Of course you can grow your own organic greens. Micro-greens are the easiest. Sunflower greens are a really easy one to grow indoors. I have a little cilantro plant and a parsley plant, which I put in my smoothies when I run out of greens. One day I want to grow most of my food. Right now I just have those, plus mint, green peppers, zucchini, and green peppers. Wild edibles (weeds) are also great in green smoothies. lambs quarters and dandelions are abundant and free.

  • Well done Alexis!!!

You have done so well with this and despite all the stresses in your life, you really are glowing! (It can't all be makeup and lighting!) xx

  • Antony, Thank you very much! I am still drinking green smoothies every morning, and I feel great!

  • what type of blender do you use to make your green smoothies?

  • I use a 2 hp blendtec. It's like a vitamix, and I love it. The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't have the plunger like a vitamix, but it has other advantages, like it's lower profile and the carafe has straight sides so it's easy to scrape out every little drop of goodness. YOu can use a regular blender too, but a high speed blender does a much better job on those fibrous greens.

  • I AM SO JEALOUS!! I'm 5'9" and 139lbs. IT SUCKS!! All I want is to be 125 and I'm SO impatient with my weight loss.

    Congratulations, you look fabulous :)

  • I thought that was pretty funny comment

  • Wow so proud of you Alexis, way to go and set such a great example to the world!

  • yardsnacker,

Thank you so much. It wasn't hard AT ALL, and the benefits just happened without effort. Going 100% raw was challenging in the past, but not this time. I guess I used up all my "almost" passes so now I get to do the real thing! :)

  • Wow, girl you are glowing, rawkin' hot! Congratulations on reaching your goals. After seeing this video, I see I must incorporate green smoothies into my transition back to raw and maybe permanently. Do you use a regular blender for your smoothies or a vitamix?

  • rawrevelation,

Thank you very much! I use a Blendtec, which is a 2hp high speed blender similar to a vitamix (the make 3hp ones too, but 2hp is more than enough). It's super efficient. If you don't have one, you can still make green smoothies. You just have to blend longer, and may have to stay away from the very fibrous greens like kale and parsley. Spinach works well in most blenders if you give it enough time.

  • Wow! Your face is so flawless. You glow girl!

  • rawkinrawmama,

Thank you! I was actually detoxing and experiencing a break out of some pimples when I made this video. I think the lighting and makeup helped. :) My face has cleared up a lot over the past two weeks (minus the pimples).

  • When I tried green smoothies last year I too COMPLETELY CEASED cooked cravings. I only drifted out of green smoothies because I did not have a disciplined kitchen routine, which is something all raw foodists need. Don't bother apologizing about the bowel talk, as I rattle on about my own. My first raw books were NATURES FIRST LAW (Wolfe) and TISSUE CLEASING THROUGH BOWEL MANAGEMENT (Jensen). :-)

  • wignsword,

I think you hit the nail on the head. It's easier to be seduced by cooked food when it's around. I have been keeping away from it. I don't watch tv either, so I avoid contact with things that might tempt me. That helps a lot. Having a well stocked fridge helps greatly too. When you have plenty of raw goodness on hand, it's hard to want gross, dead food (unless you are preparing it for someone else, or go to a restaurant or something). People really don't talk enough about bowels. :)

  • congrats on sticking to your goal. you look great and have such a better outlook on everything. keep it up!

  • eamonchamp,

    Thank you very much! :)

  • Congratulations on this beautiful healthy journey- your eyes are so clear and Lovely. thank you for this information.

  • thelikesofme3,

    Thank you very much! :)

  • I havnt mesured my self,but I deffinatly

lost inches.Because a pair of my size 3

pants fit before started raw.And now from a week fasting, plus 2 weeks raw,They dont fit around waist!lol I hope I went down a size!

  • misstoxiclove,

Fasting will definitely take the inches off, mostly because there isn't anything occupying your intestines. Since you are already tiny, I suspect your waist will go back to normal after your fast. Raw food will bring you to your ideal, healthy weight.

  • Lol, I'm a vegan (however not raw but definitely considering doing it after vacation!) and I'd have to say that my main weakness is burritos too...I think I may need to work on that!! Congrats on the weight loss!

  • maeveniacal,

Thank you so much. Burritos were a comfort food for me, but I haven't wanted one in the part two weeks which is pretty great. I just got to the point where I couldn't digest them anyway, so there was no point eating them anymore. I feel much lighter when I eat raw food. Congratulations on being vegan! :)
