I have the same problem every time I load film in it - and it brakes the first 4 exposures too!
Do I get any problems after removing the "pin" like you describe? I just ordered original polaroid sepia film from impossible - i think they come in a metal pack.
so I have a torn FILM tab, not black tab - would be really cool to see a video on that! I'm stuck with a torn film tab (2nd sheet) and have no idea what to do to get it out. :(
Yeah, my first photo didn't come out, so I had to open up the camera and take it out by hand... The Impossible Project is sending me some more film, even though the other shots should still work.
is there a big difference between the 100 model and the 420 model, besides the glass and metal frame, is there a difference between quality?i have the 420 camera
@LoogieV Some might argue that the "glass lensed" Polaroid pack cameras deliver a better image...but I have the 420 too and I love it! It always delivers. So the answer is...it's all a matter of personal choice.
Awesome video guys, it clears a lot of questions I had about the 100 Land Camera, as soon as I get mine back (I send it to service with the pro's and it was really cheap, something like 20 bucks) I'll make sure to upload a video with the footage for you!
Best pack cameras? The 100, the 450. Google the model #s for info. The cameras with the Zeiss viewfinders and glass lenses are the best. The cheaper models are fun too!
You can use a CR123A battery in this camera and tape it to the leads and it works fine as well. It's only 3.5V but it trips the shutter and fires the flash just fine. I've tried it and it works.
Great film, I had exactly the same problem with my first film ... of course I hadn't watched this at that point and made a right mess of getting the black card out. A lesson learned, thanks guys!
Personally, I just put in a pack of Fuji film and took out the pins, which were too much of a pain when trying to clean the rollers. The darkslide paper actually came out just fine. I think if the film has been in the fridge (never freeze it!), then condensation might weaken the tab. We'll see if the first exposures survive as well.
Dan Domme told me about the bobby pin work around to hold down the leaf springs you pointed out, and reduce the tension. The old Polaroid cartridges were metal, the Fuji packs are plastic- which causes the problem. I have yet to experience this problem since installing this simple mod.

If you are using 100 speed film, use the 75asa setting on the camera. Happy shooting!!

If you are using 100 speed film, what speed did you set your camera to? I have this same model, and they don't have a 100 setting. Thanks

I would love to know which one is the best automatic landcamera from Polaroid ? It's obviously not the 104 ;-)
How are the 220 and 320 ?
Cheers

The 532 battery is only $12 at some camera stores. I got mine for that much.

Thanks so much guys! What a cool video. I just got myself a Land Camera 100 and this sure made understanding how the whole camera works a lot easier!

Michael- I am thrilled that you uploaded a video for this wonderful series of cameras. I shoot with my Dad's 230. They are truly amazing.
