SETI is kinda a joke to me, how self centered can you be to believe that aliens use radio waves on a very specific frequency to communicate. Not to mention, I'm pretty sure no scientist would deliberately create an acronym that sounded like an Egyptian deity--astronomers prefer the Greek pantheon. It should also be noted that the spelling is DIMENSION. Demention sounds like a place where people become demented (AKA Internet?). I think it is important to know when one's fears and hopes go too far--aliens, if such things exist, are no more demonic than you are.

-VERY different to us (physically/genetically)
-part of an alliance (thinking Mass effect again)

-hostile
if anywhere, we'd probably meet them in space.

No one can be sure, but that bit of sci fi science might be wrong. It is extremely unlikely that an alien would suffer from an Earthly infection--because they need not have the same immune systems that we do. They need not have the same organs, or even the same KIND of genetic code. For the reasoning behind this, consider that not every disease known to the world can infect humans--and we all share essentially the same organs, immune responses, and genetic type.
