  • They're putting us on, right? These are Peter's and Gordon's great grandfathers, right? Parodying them?

  • Are you sure this isn't a joke?

  • Not only birds sing out of tune here......

  • these guys obviously do not attend the same health club as Chad and Jeremy

  • i don't care what anyone says i cant LIVE in a world without LOVE..

  • give them a break guys, they are old...but Paul McCartney's old but still rockin' !!! rock on Paul!

  • This is what happens when there are no rehersals prior to making a performance.

  • I haven't seen them since 1965, on our Black & White TV. It's always "shocking" to see Groups who were so "young", years ago, now "Old".... I'm including myself.

  • I don't think they are the same two ???

  • @cubanazo123 I agree they don't look or sing anywhere near the same

  • Nice pair of Gibson J160E's

  • I honestly think *some* of the less-than-perfect sounds can be put down to the equipment - like it was picking up *too much* or something, very odd.

  • it was very nice to see Peter and Gordon after all these years...they might sound out of tune a bit and voice kind of quivering but all the same its a pleasure being able to hear from them again! I just love it!

  • @liza8423 I couldn't agree less. It was just embarrassing.

  • time to hang your boots up boys that was sooooo bad

  • @hosman1300 If I went to this I would be shouting like the girls back in the 60's! But, I would be shouting "REFUND!"

  • @hosman1300 Poor Gordon hung up his boots a short time later passing away in July 2009. R.I.P.

  • redhead and brown hair turned into white.....

  • Just a bairn when this came out and thought it was just great. Well........ still good but in a different way.xx

  • @Wanch1e1ady they made an effort to sing good that was what that matters...

  • One thing is certain Justin Bieber will not be doing this..he will long be in the dustbin and forgotten.

  • It's good to see them perform together again after all these years. Yes, they are now much older and so are we (those from the 50's and 60's). What a perfect vocal that they had. Thank you for the great music and memories. RIP Gordon.

  • Parting is such sweet sorrow...This had to be one of Gordon's last performances. I was always a little bit in love with him. (Peter was just too cutely adorable; I preferred more masculine.) I remember on the PBS show thinking his face looked like melted wax. I am so glad we have these last performances of the group.

I remember playing True Love Ways over and over listening to his rich voice and through the years, I wondering whatever had happened to him...

    Good-bye, dear Gordon.

  • I didn't know Kenny Rogers was in the group

  • ...fall over must e rerribly rewarding

  • Being able to sing and perform until you fal

  • cool old guys! so sorry Gordon is dead.

  • Peter Asher unfortunately couldn't be here tonight, so he sent his good friend Jim Broadbent instead...

  • @therealjoebloggs lol I was trying to think who he reminded me of!

  • :')

  • Not bad considering......

  • Gordon lost some height over the years before he passed,he towered over Peter when they were young.

  • @01Almay Yes i noticed it too...i think as one gets older we tend to become smaller in body frame...

  • No hay muchos artistas que han interpretado canciones de los Beatles mejor que los Beatles, Peter & Gordon con "World Without Love" y Sarah McLachland con "Blackbird" son unos de ellos

  • Kind of sad - doesn't even sound like they rehearsed it. I agree with the post about Chad and Jeremy - I saw them last year live and they still sounded fantastic.

  • RIP Gordon, rocking out now in heaven w/all those other rock legends...John Lennon, George Harrison, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Elvis "the King" Presley, Roy Orbison...

  • @wordsmystrys dont for get freddie mercury

  • @bobbysherman fan. . .oh so sad to hear that info; Peter and Gordon were real down-to-earth guys, and we loved their blend of musical style, complement each other, and foremost, nothing pretentious about how they present themselves. R.I.P Gordon.

  • Thank you guys. . . . .nice to see them as they are now. . . of course, the inevitable ravages of father time do catch up with us all !!

  • @macvatu Sadly, Gordon died a couple of years ago of cardiovascular disease.

  • Groovy

  • It's lovely to see these guys still are willing and able to rock out. So much emphasis was (and is) placed on youth, it's difficult even to put your nose out there after you have 20+ years in the can no matter how talented you are. More power to them and they still sing like blazes!

  • @TheJedisch Gordon Waller is no longer able to Rock out as he's dead..But he may well be Rockin out with John, George, Elvis and Buddy in heaven though :o }

  • @smasherhits I'll bet he is. Not to mention Jim Morrison! I am on the web once every blue moon and didn't realize he'd passed. I squeed over Gordon in Tiger Beat, it seems like yesterday. How time flies.

  • I they have it in our hearts! Who didnt cry over this song back in the day?

  • Bit of Irony about birds singing out of tune but hey. Legends

  • Great song, very special song, but all that heavy guitar was so out of place.

  • it unbelivable how there voices barley changed!1

shit pause at 2:49 that guy is sexy

  • @08babymonster Are you serious? They deteriorated terribly.

  • @08babymonster

lol yeah becase they problalby havent practise for a long time

  • it unbelivable how there voices barley changed!1

  • this is a great song-- the Beatles wrote this song and gave it to Peter & Gordon

  • Christ! Not only pitchy, but out of time. it was Asher who was screwing up the vocals by being late. He was singing "love" when his mate had already stepped back from the mic. Drunk? Stroke? Alzheimers? I don't know, but these two are not ready to go on any tour or do any recording. I'm about as old as they are, and I'd rather remember Peter and Gordon as I knew them in the 60's. This is a travesty.

  • @mnpd007 I agree. Peter and Gordon sounded better when they were young. The best excuse I can give for them is... They don't play ofen enough to be sharp. The vocal chords are like muscles. If you don't work them, they won't perform well.

  • @Hooverdarnit True - but pull the clip of Chad and Jeremy recently doing A Summer Song - THEY still have it!

  • Goodness! I hope they had two open coffins ready in front of the stage for these guys to fall into, just in case.

  • @quirpco I Like Your Idea And I Think They Should Have Them Coffins On Standby :-)

  • The song and lyrics are courtesy of Paul McCartney, who wrote them. A brilliant heart.

  • That's what Life does to people. It didn't treat Gordon well, I guess. Some people are better at managing Life and some it treats better than others too; much of that is down to Lady Luck. I'm glad they played together again though before Gordon died.

  • Which one is Gordon?

  • It would be better without the dirty sound of electric guitar...

  • I hate bitter sweet memories, but I'm very grateful I was allowed to have had the experience of living through the 60s and seeing all this world class talent first hand. Rest in Peace Gordan and walk with God.

  • Good performance for these two older guys. Peter has aged better than Gordon.

  • "BIRDS SING OUT OF TUNE. AND RAIN DROPS HIDE THE MOON". Such sad lyrics.

Lucy, and Judy, and Mondo, and Doreen. Where, or where, are they now? When she come I'll know then. Please come, a new love.

  • "BIRDS SING OUT OF TUNE. AND RAIN DROPS HIDE THE MOON". Such sad lyrics.

Lucy, and Judy, and Mondo, and Doreen. Where, or where, are they now?

  • PETER & GORDON... LOS AMO A LOS DOS Y SIEMPRE VAN A SEGUIR ENTRANDO EN LO MÁS PROFUNDO DE MI CORAZON Y HARAN QUE LAS LAGRIMAS SALGAN DE MIS OJOS COMO HACE 45 AÑOS ATRAS...SON USTEDES MAGNIFICOS, GRACIAS POR TAN BELLAS CANCIONES. TOCABAN EL ALMA DE TODAS LAS ADOLECENTES DE ESA ÉPOCA.

  • these 2 lats are still verry good

  • I'm so glad they came out of retirement and performed. I think it is sad when people who were a big part of cultural history hide away until the death notices. I don't want them to be "the same" as in the 1960s, I want to see that they are living until it's over and not giving up before then.

  • This is really sad - I wish I hadn't have watched it. I had the same feeling watching the Bonzo's revival a few years ago. No matter how hard we try, we can't recreate the past. I would rather have my memories of what was a fantastic time to grow up in. Like so many things, we don't appreciate what we had until it's gone.

  • They are really bad...and why look so old...dye your hair or something your preformers...

  • @Atomicflash500 man, don't be disrespectful.. i respect them for even doing this performance.

  • It amazes me that this was a Lennon-McCartney song originally that they gave to them, because Paul was dating Jane Asher and what a career boost for P&G. :-) God bless Gordon Waller!

  • Remember that was a studio recording. Live recordings are harder get perfect. And they haven't performed together in a long time.

The videos you see of them in the 60s are lip-synced. Not because bands cheated then, but because stage and recording equipment didn't do a good job of recording to film. With digital recording, the audio and video can be recorded separately, and mixed together at low cost, and no loss of quality.

  • For those lamenting that they didn't do as well as they did in the 1960s...

  • As a huge Peter and Gordon fan, it pains me to say that this sounds like really bad karaoke. It probably would've sounded alright if they had taken the song down a step instead of trying to sing it in its original key.

And the backing band sounds a bit cheesy. Personally, I think a more bare-bones acoustic version would've sounded interesting with their voices. Still, it's better than most of what The Who have done recently.

  • Hmmmm the past is the past I guess...

  • they sound great! it's Peter and Gordon for christ sake! they're doing it for the people! it's 2008 and theyre singing World Without Love! Nobody else can do it like they can!

  • yikes -- for true devotees only....

  • OH WELL!!

  • too bad they dont have it anymore

  • Peter and Gordon owe Macca a lot!

  • For some reason it's rather disturbing to see them old! I haven't seen them since 1966!! ohhhhhhh

  • Is Peter the bald one?

  • i dont know what your talking about i think they sound better than ever

  • Peter got his teeth fixed...I'm certain his 60's look was the model for Austin Powers

  • @berkeleyhome naa! The 60's produced a lot of those bad teeth Limey queers.

  • i love this song but right now it sounds like theyre drunk

  • @anhphu24041992 yes I can! So could anyone.

  • @SingleMaltdd ..oh give 'em a break..it was 40 years since they recorded the original. WHAT..you expected them to sound the same?

I give them kudos for giving it a shot!

  • Nonetheless, they are still great singer!!!

  • Birds sing out of tune......ha ha.....So do you!

  • Gordon was much taller than Peter back in the 60s

  • wow asi estarian los beatles si todos siguieran vivos :S

  • @therotiv4 Paul y Ringo esta vivos Gracias DIOS y lucen muy bien.

  • The whole band sounds drunk..it would help to actually tune the guitar and get a drummer who can stay in the pocket for more than a half measure. This version should be called a World Without Tune.

  • @alisonsdragonfly please stop it your making me cry

  • @redfenderguy aw .. well don't pull it so hard hun : )

  • awesome & so mellow. looks as if they are playing the same guitars that they had back then.

i yearn for the days when you could understand every word, hear every note, & not be blasted with someone's hate rhetoric. it was also a time when the music mattered not the look so much. pre-MTV. these are not videos but recordings of performances. i just wish i had been just a few years older & able to go and see them at that time.

at the end when they speak, its as if not a day has passed.

  • Is gordan the one with the beard..

  • @The18Angus

    Yes.

  • @The18Angus

    Yes it is.

  • Pasa el tiempo para las personas, aunque estas sean de gran relevancia, como es el caso de Peter & Gordon, pero su música y sus brillantes armonías vocales, siguen impertérritas. ¡¡La buena Música no pasará nunca!!

  • I don't see why people are complaining that they sang out of tune, and not everything's perfect anyways, these guys still sound really good to me, and I'm more into The Beatles btw, I also love that song Smile a Little Smile For Me, by The Flying Machine

  • Respect

  • age has catches up with us all . but they still can sing better than most so called singers about now adays

  • age has catches up with us all . but they still can better than most so called singers about now adays

  • These guys are great!!!!

  • They still look good! They Still sound great

  • Ahhhhhhhh shit, I didn't even know that Gordon was dead. :'(

  • @mikipou Yeah...well unfortunately neither did Peter until after this rousing performance.

  • @SingleMaltdd - Shame on you...they were great once. Time catches everyone...I wonder if the world will remember our accomplishments when we are gone....at least they were somebody once.

  • They were a superb group and good to see them on you tube. If i remember correctly, they did appear on a Batman episode back in the 60s.

  • Jesus - and to think Jane has aged so well since the 60's.

  • Rest in peace Gordon. Thank you and Peter for the music , especially this song . I was 5 when it came out .

  • my respect to the laurels of time!

  • BIRDS sing out of tune? What about these two low flying pensioners. Actually I can hear some remnants of their hey day. It is hard to tell which is which! I guessed that must be Gordon with the beard and I was right.

  • That was GREAT!!!

  • timing is off here, maybe monitors are no good, the old harmony is just not there.

  • You can tell they haven't played together in a while; they're a little off in terms of key and sync. They're still great tho.

  • The group I admire is the Beatles who wrote this song for Peter and Gordon. Another big hit of Peter and Gordon's is "Woman" also written by the Beatles. It's a shame the Beatles gave those songs away to Peter and Gordon. Not to knock Peter and Gordon it's just that I wish the Beatles sang it for themselves....just saying.

  • @susp1 - They didn't give them away. They licensed the songs to P&G...pretty common in those days and still.

  • @susp1 - to be really clear on this, Lennon and Mcartney agreed to co-author each others work early on. So this song was actually a McArtney song that made it's way to P&G because Paul Mcartney was dating Jane Asher -- Sister to Peter. Woman was actually a McArtney only song as well but creditied under the pseudonym "Bernard Webb" because Paul wanted to see if the song would make it without his name attached...it did to #14. P&G sanf songs from the Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, and others...

  • @Oracle1022 Awesome info.!!!! Thanks! What I don't understand is how a famous musician in their own right (Paul, in this case) can write such a great song and then just license it to someone else???? Geeze if I wrote World Without Love and Woman, I would sure as heck recorded them myself...not just license them to someone else! I guess Paul didn't like those songs as much as I did, so he didn't mind another group getting recognition for the songs. Anyway, thanks again Oracle1022.

  • @susp1 You bet! If you are into some interesting collaboration trivia...George Harrison was actually involved in writing the instrumentals for "Ruby Tuesday" for the Rolling Stones but it went uncredited at his request. And one of the more obscure is that "Bittersweet Symphony" by The Verve was weitten entirely by Keith Richards and Mick Jagger...including the symphonic arrangement...blows my mind how much talent all of these people have! :)

  • @Oracle1022 ...Please get it right. It's McCartney!! lol.

  • @susp1

Paul McCartney wrote both songs, (Not Lennon)

The song "Woman" was given to them to see if it could become a hit without his real name on it. He used the songwriter's name BERNARD WEBB. :o)

Well, they recorded it, it was a huge hit....and the rest is history.

  • peter`s got dentures on....he`s teeth look way nicer than when he was much younger

  • I want to be playing the guitar still when I'm in my 60's.

  • The 60''s best time ever for music and up coming performers. We miss all of that, but thanks to "Youtube" we can go back and reminisce. Those were the days! For negative critics, you will one day be old too and time can be unforgiving.

  • I think they did a good job. But in any event, it doesn't really matter how they sound (IMO). It was just good see them together again on stage...especially in light of Gordon Waller's eventual passing a year later.

  • veterans

  • I´m from México and now tripping to past !! great.

  • I like the song but you can't reproduce those wonderful days. The band tried their best to distract us but it wasn't the same.

  • Well this performance was slightly over a year before Gordon died and yes, this isn't up to par, but still enjoyable. They headlined the very first concert I went to in 1965. Tom Jones (What's New Pussycat) was on the bill too and the ticket was $2.50! Luckily, I saw them in their next to last show in 2009 and even though Gordon was deathly ill, they sounded VERY Good! They meet the crowd after the show and I was able to tell them how much I appreciated their music and thanked them.

  • @LifeInSpace Cigarettes killed Gordon's voice and ultimately him as well unfortunately.

  • This is like raising the Titanic and offering rides on it.

  • I really like this song and it was written by the Beatles. I also love these guys-but some things are better to be left alone. They should of left this song in the 60's. Also, unless they had something new and original to sing they should stay retired and enjoy life!

  • loved them.

  • Loved you in the 60s and love you still lads!

  • good effort lads, you are legends in my eyes

  • R.I.P. Gordon. We Miss u! :/

  • Its a shame that age robs us of so much - but it also brings us so much too. Remember the past performances with fondness - respect the present efforts with reverence!

  • I am 51 Santiago, Chile, But these guys!!!!! How much we love them!!!!! What memories, Girls, in the beach bikinis , Young ones, we used to enjoy so many good songs!!!! Maritza still you are in my heart!!!!! I cry...

  • Fantastic example of the 60s music they was legandary during there height of fame.

  • WOW!, just goes too show how fast we've aged. Seems like yesterday. It's great to see musician's from the BEST decade of music come back out and perform.

  • hey man, these 2 are oldies, show a bit of respect. When you're at this age you'd be glad you're still alive! Peter and Gordon is great in their days, they can even sing better than your dad!

  • its scary what age does to us!

  • wow their voices barely changed!

  • Maravilhosos!

  • Tindeed have aged (who hasn't?), but the old Peter and Gordon magic sound is gone. I applaud the effort nonrtheless.

  • two cute respectable ol'men

  • Horrible. I actually heard them years later and they sounded good and looked better than this. This must have been a last minute thing and they weren't up for it.

  • Christ, what must I look like? after all the same years....

  • Great harmonies and teen heartthrobs way, way back; in the early sixties; but now they look like my grandpa Willie and his arthritic geezer friend; LOL ... Sad the ravages of time....;-)

  • el paso inexorable de los años

  • This is a great song and I love these guys...and meaning no disrespect at all...I would just recall a quote from Apollo Creed to Rocky---"Too bad we gotta get old, Stallion".

  • the smothers brothers!
