@dukebeatles777 Arty. shells have a blast area of 60 to 100 yds and in that period of time alot of cannon fire were "Air bursts" in other words "fuzed" projectiles. Shrapnel from those guns were horrific and killed many.
americanos algun dia pagaran y mucho mas caro disen que son la primera potencia mundial pero de todas las guerras. donde usa. tubo mas perdidas fue con lade MEXICO ARIIVA MEXICO CABRONES..
Men can talk, Nations can't, this was a caotic time in Mexico's history, Every nation has its heroes while Santana was not a Hero, other soldiers, were, while Santana was tyrant officers and generals were defending what they consider their homeland, in any case and politics aside this is a great movie by one of my greatest role models.Saludos desde Mexico
@dukebeatles777 Due to their inferiority in cavalry, it would have been suicidal to venture into the open once the Mexican Army had arrived. Mexican cavalry would have caught up with them and pinned them down until the infantry arrived. And then they'd be surrounded again by overwhelming numbers, without the walls, artillery and store rooms of the fort.
@TheMrSmissen Santa Ana didnt abolish that const, it was Bustamante who was the president. Not only Texas were the only trying to secede, also the proclaimed Republic of Yucatan (yucatan, campeche and quintana roo, invited tabaso too), Republic of Rio Grande (Tamaulipas, Nuevo Leon and Coahuila), the Republic of Zacatecas and the Republic of California, included the Bajas. Sonora also wanted they Republic. Even Veracruz in times of Gral. Milan.
@TheMrSmissen ur right in some points but not all. Texas deserves to texans not americans, legacy ur americans but social thing ur Texas and u got to be proud of it, u were lucky to get close to the US, cuz Santa Anna in 1843 was making a campaing to invade Texas again. But Texas entereted to the american union in 1845, and that beging the fight between our contries. Also California was saying "hey put the 24 const or we leave", Veracruz did the same, thts why the Mx goverment ...
@TheMrSmissen ... continue, abolished the 1833 const wich was a stupid constitution and started the masonic protocol of 1840's, so the "liberals" assumed the power of the Republic and the ew proclaimed republcs of California, Veracruz, Rio Grande were calm down and giving them hope.. but Texas and the republic of Yucatan remaing hostile, also Zacatecas. So it was more a mexican problem but the splendid cousins of the north get involved to accepting Texas to US. :( but HAIL TEXAS!!
@TheMrSmissen by the way when the 1833 its abolished, still value the 1824 cont,, but they proclaaimed the liberal constitucion of 1836, and didnt like it to the Texans, Yucatecs and Zacatecans. =) Thats why they remain hostile. Sorry my bad english hhah Im sick and eating and everyone in my house is talking to me, but i just wanna clear what u r saying.
Btw I love Texas and it yellow rose.
Texas should be independent again of any Nation. Texas is a Jewel in brupt, like a diamant.
John Wayne's Alamo is Hollywood crap! pure Holly wood crap.
There are so many things in this film that are complete BS.
1. Fannin and his men were killed AFTER the Alamo fell.
2.Bowie never had a 5 barrel shotgun. 3. Crockett rarely wore the Coonskin cap and finally halfway through the movie, Travis' accent goes from southern to British And Wayne has way too many Texans in the Alamo. the cannon fire is so fake.what were they using? This film is so full of crap.
@Mr508films The American West movie genre is never made for accuracy, only entertainment. War is never truly accurately represented in film, that is why The Pacific and Band of Brothers are just brilliant. Look at the 1966 movie Zulu, and absolute masterpiece of a movie, without representing events accurately. Just enjoy the movie for its character, but if you want realistic depictions then watch the HBO series.
@OWTS1885 - I enjoy historical films and programs when the producers of those films do their homework and strive for authenticity. When they do it wrong or ignore the importance of it, they are disrespecting the people they are trying to honor. Sam Elliot said it best when making Tombstone(even though it is wrought with errors)
Make it right for the people who know, and those who don't will benefit all the more is basically what he said.
@OWTS1885 yea but this type of movies does move your feelings thu. May bc ppl like the life of the West and Cowboys, Indians and Mexicans too. Its exciting. Leone movies and this is one of my favorites, doesnt matter if im mexican, i love Texas and I think in my past life I was TEXAN. But if want to see soomething real in this movies, the more closer is The true story of the alamo of Lucas Alaman. An conservator and historian, mexican politician. He knew the truth and u could do a vid.
@haloreachlover99 You obviously don't know what you are talking about kid. It wasn't the u.s. troops it was a mixture of americans and mexicans. The "gatel gun" is actually a gatling gun which wasn't even invented until like 20 years later. Please learn about stuff before you post something and learn how to spell or stick to halo reach. :P
@supermarioharley unless you have two accounts he wasn't talking to you lol, and watching a movie 5 times doesn't make you a historian of the matter. As awesome as this film is it ain't 100% historically accurate my friend.
texas will get back to our hands

Let the 13 days of glory shine a star across this land
Let the truth behind the story of this brave and stalwart band
Shine across the land of Texas, where the Freedom Trail was blazed
By a band of men, just like us, who shone bright for 13 days.
(Written by me while visiting the Alamo).

I smell a Mexican with lack of historical education....Not only
Americans fought in the Texas Revolution, but also Dutch,German,
Native Americans and even Mexicans! And Santa Anna also abolished
the constitution of 1824 making him a dictator. Summarized, the Texans
had their right to secede ;-)
