Hi actually i am using a task killer on my asus tab. The strange thing is that now i cansewhat is running in the background. But idon t get one thing. If i kill all the apps and then open browser goggle i got all app open again as mucic, facebook, avg, pandora, my net ,chess.com , clok. So why those apps are running? I don t get it.
Wrong, wrong, and wrong... Funny that you did a great job explaining how the iphone handles background data while claiming that android does it. Wrong. Android allows the app to run, because it needs to in most cases. Suspending activity is an Apple innovation. Remember kiddies, if it wasn't for iphone, there would be no Android!
my phone so far actually seems to work better now that i turned my task killer off. i kept it just incase like chase said, incase you NEED to kill something but honestly you couldn't probably just go into your settings and force kill the app...
how is it possible to save battery life on mytouch 3g on a 2.2.1 OS? i noticed standby is way off, nothings running, i dont have a task manager either but its just so slow too, battery lasts just under a day too even though i dont use it heavily...any suggestions? i just got this phone too because was a good deal and im new to android...
Following your description box, there is probably an app that should be considered developping, a multitasker switcher. What I mean by that some apps pause to where you left (thats fine) and some just close down such as youtube. its just a pain to re-re-search the video or article when u dont remember the names cos u were in the rush getting an incoming call u hang up crap u forgot everything. thats what lacking in the OS at moment. at least havng the option to close or pause feature be great..
@EmoGamer ssooo I notice my has been freezing up lately so I reinstalled my app killer..works much better now. Lol sorry chris I guess my phone just relys on it
@emogamer: yea I am. I wish I could show you a snapshot of my phone. I dont have it rooted because of the beta test. I was very surprised to see that too! I could take a pic of the screen with my digicam and email it to you if u want?
@SuperLegacy6 I'm against noobs using them to kill off EVERY app in the background. But I'm for people using them when appropriate (misbehaving apps).
Older versions of android need the task killers (everything below 2.0 if I'm not mistaken). They just don't manage their ram efficiently enough and most phones with older versions of android have even smaller amounts of ram to work with. current versions of android are good though
Thanks for putting this vid up. I work for Tmo and I can tell u, as soon as someone comes in with an issue with their phone (slow, battery), 90% of the time a task killer or dumb anti-virus is installed on it. I have the MyTouch 4G with 2.3.4 on it (Tmo beta test ver.) and I have no issues with my device being sluggish or anything. And I don't use a task killer, ever. Btw, this new 2.3.4 update for the MyTouch 4G is sick!!!!!!
@adder1221l I do when they are complaining about how it doesnt work right but they dont know what their doing... 'My Alarm clock isnt working" Because you have a task killer killing off your alarm clock app.. SMH!
Old news, Anyone could of figured all this stuff out their selves unless they're completely retarded which in that case, they shouldn't own a Andriod phone.
You need to do a better research on how Android works and how exactly a task killer helps your phone, I can prove you wrong on most of the things you are saying.
@mcweed78 Let me just put it this way. You've heard of Cyanogen, right? The guy who builds Android ROMs completely from source? Yeah, that guy. He says its nothing but a placebo effect and does nothing for battery life and/or making your phone "faster." BOOM.
@darkwarrior82 You could root your phone and use ES File Explorer or something along these lines to uninstall itGo to xda forums, you ll find all information there
I agree but if your running a sense Rom you still need to some of those apps. Just like gmaps is always running in the background and I don't even use it half the time. I do use the sense task killer often.
@The313dash Doesn't matter. Even when you kill Gmaps, refresh the task killer and you will see that it will open right back up again. Its always there. Killing is futile.
Well after deleting my app killer and going a few days without it I do notice it runs the same but with a significant longer lasting amount of battery life. Not a whole lot but enough to notice
@eleven38 Didn't you listen to what Chavez said, "USE THAT MEMORY!"? Who cares if your available memory goes up from 80 to 140. Android effcienty monitors that in the background.
@eleven38 I think you're trying to compare Android to a desktop O/S. On a desktop, you will have to close applications/windows to free up RAM to speed up your PC, but Android was meant to run multiple apps at once for quick access to frequently used apps. Your "DUHH" is rejected.
@eleven38 Straight from the horse's mouth, "By default, every application runs in its own Linux process. Android starts the process when any of the application's components need to be executed, THEN SHUTS DOWN THE PROCESS when it's no longer needed OR when the system must recover memory for other applications." - Android Developers
@BaretoesAM your an idiot and fial to realise there is several versions of android... again.......clearly u fail to understand some apps wont run due to low memory DUHHHHHHH

@Mr2fresh818 Basically. Don't use it to auto kill EVERY app in the background. Only use it to kill an app that's broken and going haywire.
