Oh wow.....If I'm not mistaken, I've seen one of those cars at the vintage races! The #1 Tyrrel Ford Matra that Jackie won some world championship in 1972! The thing is breathtaking in person, and to see it in this vintage footage is ultra kewl. It sounds awesome in the old films, but to hear that howling DFV for real is unforgettable.
BTW, if you like this, try to find the movie "The quick and the dead." It's a movie length documentary about F1 in the early '70's. Worth a look.
Er, yes; I'm afraid you are mistaken. Stewart drove the Tyrrell Ford (the Matra was 1968 & 1969) to win the World Championship in 1971. Oh, and again in '73 but that's another story.
I find it amazing that the FIA can just choose tracks at will to race on. Then if they don't like it, they drop it, then find another track. I mean, each year, it seems like they drop a track and add a new one.
Well observed nobango. Maybe, would he take time to have a look at it during the race, tucking his gloves up while on a straight, but that seems quite improbable. More likely he just didn't feel uncomfortable keeping it.
Used to watch this video with my mate years ago, Best Of The Best 72, great upload, many thanks.

Yes, up until 1993. Also, there was a championship race in Morocco in the 50s.

I'm surprised to see Chris Amon (2:30) wearing a watch. How can he use it when it is totally covered by the gloves?
