very funny. I have never heard any thing like that before, I didn't see the punchline even commin'. I loved Jim from all his movies. Especially Ernest goest to camp were he looks into a toilet then directly into the camera and with the funniest face says eyouuuuuuu!!!! Jim will always be welcomed into the my families livingroom. We love you Jim!

i remember Jim's stand up from the late 70's. "Is Zorro on?....." (which Letterman still says as a non sequiter) and the bit about the mechanic who's drink was spiked by hippies "they put some LSD in my RC Cola ....half hour later the damn oil started changin' color"

That's awesome. Where did you see him do stand-up?  It's funny how Letterman mentioned his line and how they used the HEY VERN GUY on the Top Ten list for years and years yet he never had Jim as a guest on the show. I always found that very peculiar.

What I liked about Jim Varney was not so much his jokes, but the way he had of telling them ... . Stuttering Sam is funny, but once he started doing the horse trainer I was laughing so hard I didn't even care about the punch line anymore. A unappreciated character actor if there ever was one. RIP.
