  • The nostalgia... oh man, it burns so good.

  • . . . God bless America.

  • I saw this movie in 1988 in theaters when i was 7 years old 3 times and my last one was after christmas day, i had some of the original merchandise like soundtrack, Mcdonalds stuff, coloring books, readalong book with cassette, stuffed Oliver, PVC toys from sears, PJs, t-shirt and junior novel. Too bad it never came out on video the next year or next as it look a longass time to come on video, i did enjoyed it's re-issue at age 14 and even bought the movie on video when it finally came out

  • This song means so much to me <3

  • oliver :')

  • You know, if they made an Oliver and Company 2 it would totally ruin the whole thing. You just shouldnt make sequels to stuff like this. Like Balto, the first movie was incredible and i love it with a furious passion, but they messed it up by making two more. The second one wasn't too bad but that third one just...no. Just no.

  • i don't like this.............I LOVE THIS

  • 7 people are heartless. l:(

  • @BrainyxBat no seven people are not heartless, they just have a different opinion then you and that is perfectly fine.

  • I love the message in this song. Even though its focused on New york and oliver, it is also out to everyone else. To always try and never be afraid to do something. Always believe in yourself and to never stop dreaming.=)

  • Omigosh, one of the saddest beginnings for a Disney movie! I love this movie so much! If I ever get a cat of my own, I'm naming him Oliver. :D

  • I love this movie!

Too bad it wasn't from the film (Though they have sounds).

  • Great video! To the people that wanted to download, its so easy. In your URL location bar type the letters "pwn" in front of "youtube", and hit enter.

  • Of the many heartbreaking beginnings for Disney movies this one is one of the worse. I love it though, makes me cry every time.

  • In The Sprit of The Twin Towers WTC god bless GO NEW YORKERS!

  • one of the best song from a Disney movie and probably the most inspiring..New Yorkers rule! NYC BABY

  • "Keep your dream alive

Dreaming is still how the strong survive"

Those lines really mean a lot. Makes me want to cry every time I hear them.

  • thats the one line that really sticks in my mind. So true.

  • this is the best song ever ♥

I cannot watch the first minutes in Oliver & Co without crying sooo hard :D

    simply amazing (:

  • @SmokingTequila Me neither xD

  • This song kind of reminds me of Tuesday, September 11, 2001. T_T

  • This is perhaps the most inspirational Disney song I have ever heard. It's because of this song, I won't be afraid of the mean streets of the major cities.

  • I always cry when I hear this song. Not because it's a motivating song, but because I named my cat after Oliver and he died less than 3 years later.

    R.I.P. Oliver 11/07 - 2/09

I wish my baby was still here. ),:

  • This is kinda inspirational.

    No.

This motivates me. To not give up.

Everytime i watch this scene im always crying. its so sad..

    But so good.

    <3

  • I absolutely LOVE this song, sice I saw the movie when I was 6. The perfect introduction for the film, still I shed a good tear every time I listen to it, also 'coz I felt the same way when I started working in London. Thanks for posting it

  • Good Song.

  • i hope this teaches young kids out there that cats deserve to be loved and cared for and not to be left behind on the streets. this movie as well as many other disney movies have different messages that try to bring good to children and to grow up remembering those lessons and remember those disney movies from their childhood. never let those movies go! they are to be cherished forever!

  • I agree 100%

  • : ) Thanks!

  • True, but this movie was based off of Oliver Twist. ;3

  • really? i didnt know that.

  • mhmm :3

  • Did a song ever speak to you like it was written for you? Because that's how this song is for me. LOVE it

  • Lurve this song :')

  • disney is stupid now. it used to be so much better until the 2000's.

infact, the 2000's have ruined everything.

  • youre so right!!!

  • Tell me about it. Once we hit the millenium everything Disney and all that went downhill. We had high hopes for the future and look where we are now :(

I wish we could return to the 60's, although this is an 80's song but the 60's was the best ever decade.

  • but bolt proved to be a great movie though. first time i ever had any real fun since the emperor's new groove

  • nigel.

  • so true. I hate how they stopped making 2D movies, now there all stupid computer animated crap with sucky story plots. Hmmp, disney needs to smarten up!!

  • Oh the 3D movies aren't so bad. In fact Roadside Romeo which was released in 2008 was a 3D movie that was made by Yash Raj studios in Bollywood, but brought to the U.S. by Disney.

  • pure magic

  • This song is genius. Nuff said! And it's fun to play on piano too X3

  • you are right. and i wonder who gave you three thumbs down ratings. whoever did obviously hates this song. i give you a thumb up for your comment! ;)

  • Well thank you! It is nice to see that someone else obviously appreciates the song XD =3

  • I also thumbed up you.

  • How would you do an Oliver and Company 2?

Its a cartoon version of Oliver Twist, Dickens never wrote Oliver Twist 2.

It would be suicide to try and write a sequel to a Dickens novel.

  • I agree. This was one of my favorite Disney movies when I was little. Great songs.

  • but the original story didn't involve a cat and a dog, only humans. they changed the book completely by turning most of the familiar people into animals, except fagin and sykes.

  • @JoshuaMallalieu

The fact that they anthropomorphized the characters doesn't mean it's a different story, that makes no sense.

  • @NotThatTartAgain whatever! of course i make no sense I MAKE NO SENSE!! FUCK ME THEN! FUCK YOUTUBE!! THEN!!!

  • @JoshuaMallalieu ITS A DIFFERENT STORY WHEN YOU STUFF MUSIC IN IT! ITS A DIFFERENT STORY WHEN A BOOK IS CONDENSED TO A MOVIE! FUCK FUCK FUCK!!!

  • @JoshuaMallalieu

I know what you mean and there's other humans.

  • @porky2porky actually this movie is VERY LOOSELY based off oliver Twist, so loosely that most people don't even figure out the relation unless someone point it to them. As such, a sequel isn't really that hard.

but considering how utterly crapastic "Disasterrific" Disney has become, it's probably a good idea that they haven't made a sequel for this. It would ruin the damn good memories we have of this fantastic film

  • dude i friken love this song best ever.. i haven't seen the movie in forever, but im hopeing to watch it soon

  • ive like so many sequels to great disney movies (except cinderella 2). gosh i wish there was a way to let the disney company know we need a sequel to all our favorite disney movies as long as those sequels do the first movie justice. oliver and company 2. sounds nice huh

  • Maybe it's nice they only made one, instead of dragging it out. "Only the best leaves you wanting more", eh? ^^

By the way, this is one of the best songs in Disney movies ever! :D

  • ahhh oliver and company! one of my fave movies (along with tons of other disney movies). Gosh I could probably watch the movie and speak every line cuz i used 2 watch it all the time XD they should ttly make a sequel

  • i wonder if one day there will be a sequel. It would be nice to see the gang again. What do you guys think, huh?

  • Yeah! I think there should be, perhaps we should make a petition XD

  • I just saw Oliver and Company for the first time in years the other day, and I don't know why, but I broke into tears. X3 This song is just full of memories for me...

  • love this song, one of my favourites

  • Where did you find the song? I can't find it anywhere!

  • I think I'm crying.

Tears of happiness, that is. It's my audible childhood, and I miss it so much.

  • the song I mean

  • Omg, I love this song. It's one of my fav movies. Anyone know where I can download or buy it?

  • errrr....i love this song with a burning passion!

  • argg i only have to listen to the song and i STILL end up in tears :')

    amazingg<33

  • So I'm not the only one? :)

  • it would seem so =]]

  • I cry all the time. And I'm a big girl now!

The first time I ever heard this song is when I was still living with my father, and he lives in New York. Irony, much?

    Man, I really miss him.

  • it rocks

  • Oliver and Company is my favorite movie

  • This song is amazing, absolutely amazing

  • I believe this was a solo track

  • i love this film and this song <3 it's amazing

  • i love this song soooooo much!

    i could sing this forever!

    love the lyrics!

  • I love this song!1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000/5

  • Beautiful

  • Is it just me or doesn't the music sound similar to Disney's Tarzan??? Strange coincidence or is the whole era of the two so close they have the same kind of beat???

  • what is the song called on tarzan?

  • Like any of the songs they mostly done by Phil Collins. They are only three years apart. Since they do sound similar I'm saying its the fact that they are from the same era.

  • Ahhh...so nostalgic....<3

  • i watched the movie just a few days ago and i certainly wish i could find an MP3 of it with the extra musicals at the beginning of the song. it sounded so good. id replace this vid with that one. but alas dont have it.

  • I went to New York City once. It was amazing. I would definitely go back.

Sure, it's impersonal, but that's how the rest of the US of A is.

  • my heart and blessing gose to any one who has lost family this year

  • After going to New York this summer and seeing all the.. well, everything, this song brought on a whole new meaning for me.. At first, I didn't really understand, but really, in nyc, people want you when they want you, but when they don't, you're gone. It's so impersonal there.. but I'd go back in a heartbeat.. :]x

  • this kinda makes me feel some times when i am alone and i have nobody

  • this song tells you evrythink you need to know about new york city

  • i love this movie its my all-time favorite movie ever. i love dogs.but it makes me cry at the starting of the movie when this song is playing bcuz oliver gets left alone :(

  • i just thought of the tragedy of 9/11/01. new york is great, but sad, history. i'm glad to have this video up. it hurts to think about all those people in the World Trade Center.

  • You have a great heart! Thanks for sharing it with the world! God bless you.

  • it's always once upon a time In New York City

  • I Know the lyrics it's a good song when somebody is lost (not like dead but lost in the world with no one to be there for u)I felt the same way oliver felt I grew up with no parents

  • this song brings back a lot memories

  • one of my favorite movies and an amazing opening song how nostalgic i was like 7 or 6 when i first saw Oliver and Company and just remembered this great song

  • Gah this is that really sad part where Oliver's left alone.. Makes me wanna cry T_T Granted Oliver's always been one of the saddest starts I can remember..

  • Where did you get this song? With out the background noise from the movie?

  • the soundtrack album.

  • Johnny Colla is the saxophone and rhythm guitar player with the News (Huey Lewis and the News)

He's also the arranger of the vocal parts in Huey Lewis and the News' songs

Maybe in this song, both vocal parts are sung by Huey

    Cheers ;)
