@jeepluv76 LOL thats Connecticut for ya :P This was back around early 2007 & Dad hasn't had this car since late 07. Haven't been in the area since late 2008. I'm sure its changed but it doesn't matter for a Town Car. You just don't feel the road imperfections haha...
@Intechdude300 LOL San Antonio is not much better ha ha I know what you mean my step mother has a 2002 executive series its like riding on a tempurpedic with wheels lol.
It's a combo of different vids. I don't remember how many cause it was like 4 years ago, but It could've been 5-6 vids from that ride. So it's not like it just all went like that in 59 sec.
But with 50 Mte, probably 3 gallons. I've driven 25 miles+ on 0 miles to empty on many town cars. When it says zero, theres usually about a gallon in there left.
Never had that issue on a Town Car & we've had many at home. Only in the 97-2002 Continental and what solved in was the WD40 in the Latches., Loads of it & opening on closing the door repeatedly so it lubes up good.
The fuel release, I f u mean gas cap door, No. Neither the fuel pump cutoff in the trunk. Door Handles also never had issues either.
@Intechdude300 They reason they do that is to keep the fuel pump from sucking up the gunk at the bottom of the tank. "All" of those Town Cars you did this to probably need a new fuel filter now.
Every Town Car video I have where I drive were all used personally. And I change everything from plugs, coils, wiresets, air/fuel filters. And when I have error codes I change whatever sensors. This Town Car is from about 4 years ago & as far as I remember, there was nothing wrong with this car at the time. Only concern I recall of this car was that it still had the old style manifold which was prone to crack & leak Antifreeze.
@crammage no this car can get 28 mpg if you drive nice and dont stick your foot through the floor all the time,,lol,,my grand marquis is the same car along with the crown vic and with my scanguage as the scale i pull 28 mpg in city but i have to drive light footed and hats not hard with all the torque this car has,,"279 lbstrq",,that good for a car,,,,i love mine and with all the stuff i have done to mine i pul "311 lbstrq" but only 260hp ,thats ok because torque is what matters not hp,,,lol

Str8 Highway without local driving except tolls and rest areas, it got about 24.5 MPG HWY. Haven't had the car for almost 3 yrs. Drove a 96 TC after this for 2 yrs and I got the same numbers as this.
What I've got now and gets me the best is the 2004 Grand Marquis. I've calculated on paper so many times on 400 mile+ str8 hwy trips, 25.6 MPG. With mixed driving about 21.5MPG.
my cousin had a 2.4 4 speed auto pt cruiser and he thinks that got 25-30 (ha i think not!) epa is 19 city 24highway 21combined
as for the 1996 town car he just got is 15 city 18 highway 23 highway or more
do you think the town car will match the gas mileage the pt gets or maybe even beat it? hes a heavy guy so idk i think it would get better on the highway
Chrysler's never been too great with MPG's, I think if he has a metal foot and on hilly roads, I can imagine the PT guzzling a bit more than the Town Car. Driven a Neon which is almost the same as the PT and it sucked. For a big guy, he'll be more comfy in 1 of these and the MPG difference ( If any ) isn't much.
how ever that pt has a lot of room it doesn't have as much leg room but the length from the seat to the sterring wheel is quite amazing , i didn't notice until he got in the towncar and it was tighter, yet it is a car and pt is like a cuv crossover thing
A car that does have loads of room is the Malibu Max. Seat goes Way back, with adjustable pedals and if I remember right, the steering telescopes. Just interior quality sucks like most GM cars of the 2004-2007 Era.
A roomy car thats really proven reliable so far is the 2008 Taurus. Roomier than a Town Car, 28MPG Highway, V6, 6 Speed Auto and rather inexpensive. With 85k on the clock 1 can be had for roughly $9,000
As big as a Town Car is, it's got A big nose, Big ass, and a small cabin vs the Taurus which is the complete opposite.
@Intechdude300 - Do you know anything about throwing the Mark Viii engine in the Town Car? Can it even be done? I'd love to see that, because you can put the Cobra Cams, and a centrifugal supercharger and be around 400 RWHP. That would be savage in the Town Car, and it would be a sleeper. No SRT-8 would expect it.
@Intechdude300 - You could use the PCM from the Mark, and most supercharger kits for EFI contain sensors and new programming for the PCM. I'm almost wondering if you could switch the Mustang Cobra PCM because you can switch to the LS1 PCM on the Northstar but that's a whole other beast.
how ever i carted him there in my little 1986 subaru wagon , its not a tiny car ,
yet smaller. and he could just get in , his knee was rubbing my shifter and made 5 th gear fun, i told him the back seat would be more comfortable with the front seat all the way up with the seat leaned forward, but he said the back seat was for black people and women (hes joking trust me)
test drove a 98 towncar last summer. Had a super smooth ride but felt a bit unsure threw corners to me. over pot holes ect it was even smooth.great looking inside. just did not have the power i wanted which is why i ended up in a 00 deville DHS. while very smooth it was not as smooth a ride as the towncar but felt more sure footed, which is very subjective. but that deville has it all over the towncar in performnce.but add a set of heads from a stang gt and the towncar would scream im sure.!
@fordfan25 - What I would want to do rather than 'Stang heads is get the Mark Viii engine and throw it in the Town Car, then throw in Cobra cams, full exhaust, etc. It should be able to get around 325 horse or so, which should put it at a little over 6.5 0-60.
Also, Northstars are high-maintenance engines. A common problem is that the timing chain tensioners wear and allow the chain to jump a link or 2. This results in trashing all the valves on one bank, and a $3500 rebuild job.
@Slipknotyk06 yes doing an engine swap would be cool. and would net you plenty of hp. but adding heads and a SC would do just as well. thats the bottle neck on those early mod 4.6's. they justy dont breath.
And im sorry to disagree but the N* is a very low maintanance motor. The 98-99's had head bolt problems but other than that there rock solid.
@fordfan25 - The Northstar is a solid motor, but when they go out they destroy themselves pretty well. They have issues with a $5 plastic timing chain tensioner, and they do wear on camshafts. As with any aluminum engine, be very weary of metal shavings in the oil.
Dang they need to repair that highway looked rough nice sounding engine the 4.6 SOHC

You should make out what RPM the engine is by how it sounds. I'd say around 3800-4000 RPM. Floored??? No.
Look at the related videos to the right and you'll see ( Lincoln Town Car 0-100MPH) by Mark0101
Don't know if he floored it but he did a quick run.
