  • NICE TANKI! CHECK OUT MINE TOO!

  • SHOW TANK...Does it mean..the tank is not a day to day working..therefore not a practicle tank.

  • take the colored plants out and let the fish be the show

  • what kind of rock do you use? The live rock I used to have in my old saltwater tank that has been dried and sitting in a tub for two years looks the same and was wondering if would be able to use those for a cichlid tank after thorough rinsing and possibly even boiling? I'm just learning about cichlids and freshwater in general after years of saltwater Fowlr's and reefs I'm hoping in a few months after learning about these guys I might set up a freshwater malawi cichlid tank.

  • i thnk this is corner tank ,, simular to mine, plz check mine,, i still have to work on it ,, and let me know ur feedback .

  • Yea it does look very nice with the sand, I did love having it, but after a while it can become high maintenance, so I got the white crushed coral and you get the same effect but better and better ph for the fish

  • @Hobden2XD

You are better off using white crushed coral instead of sand, as the sand can get quite annoying to clean

  • What kind of cichlid is the Rainbow colored one thats in the very middle at the beggining of the video and then stays to the bottom left for the rest of the time??

  • Its so beautiful,

it looks almost like a marine aquarium !

  • kenyi and frontosa is my fave

  • is this corner tank??

    it is amazing

  • what did you use for the background 'coral effect' ???? it looks awesome!

  • Hi

I just got sand 2 days ago for my tank but i can't seem to be getting rid of the algae lying on top of the sand.

Nice tank by the way !

  • Top class love it .i have my juwel 260 looking a little like this but i have a little more rock to get ..well done its one of the best looking tanks on youtube

  • Awesome. Looks almost like a reef :) Keep up the great work!

  • Rift Lake Cichlids.....Poor man's salt water reef tank....

  • @treldib2 There's always one!!!

  • @rentanaquarium What aquarium do you have? Is it a half-moon ?

  • @ThePhantomX18 Trigon 350 its a bow fronted aquarium

  • Fantastic tank with beautifull fish. Well done :)

  • how big is this tank?

  • idiots

  • YOU FUCKING DOOSH RENTA HOW MANY TIMES TO PEOPLE HAVE TO ASK WHAT EXACTLY IS THE BACKROUND AND WHERE CAN THEY GET/BUY IT. mETALLIC BLUE SHEETING WE KNOW, WTF IS IT AND WHERE CAN WE GET IT!

  • @legacynyc13 AT A FUCKING PET STORE!....go fucking look for it >.>

  • @legacynyc13 What a nice way to ask for someone's advice my supplier at the time was ALF however they are a wholesaler and only sell to the trade so I cannot help with where you may find the background sheeting at a specific shop.

  • I've heard alot about overcrowding cichlids to reduce aggression, is this the case? i currently have 8 along with and multi plunctatus sinidontis(sorry if the spellings off lol) but they are all really aggressive since we lost a few due to sickness or old age.. (we had 12) we have a 40 gallon would adding more make a difference in the aggression?

  • @Scrotch19 Overcrowding does sometimes help reduce aggression, however the filtration and tank size to have to allow for the overcrowding, each cichlid has its own character and sometimes no matter what you do you cant calm them. A cihlid will also have a very different character in 1 tank to another theres no easy way to know.

  • ok i have 2 firemouth cichlids and i put 1 blood parrot cichlid in with them and 4 some reason one of my firemouth cichlids keeps attacking my parrot will he stop, also should i get 2 parrot fish?

  • Saw a few attacking each other,i had 2 cichlids but they had to be seperated because of the fighting.

  • @RhodesLives

Cichlids have to be in large numbers to settle them down. Having only two cichilds together is a bad idea, even if they grew up as fry together they will still fight. Even in large numbers Cichilds nip each others fins, but nothing too serious should happen.

  • Spectacular!!!

  • @PICKLERIZM Thank You

  • Is the background stuck on the inside or outside?

  • @houst69 Outside, fish will get behind a background if it is stuck inside the tank.

A great product for attaching background to the glass is clearview

  • How much rock in Kg do you have in there?

  • @houst69

the metric system is fucking stoopid mkay

  • @houst69 Around 75kg roughly

  • are those cichlid rocks or corals

  • How many gallons?

  • This tank is just unbelievable!!!!

  • @Cichlidking1 Thank You

  • What color background is that....? Looking fabulous.

  • @roshan2946 Its a metallic Blue sheeting I use for all my tanks

  • @rentanaquarium where can you get the metalic blue sheeting?

  • @BabyTumbler

im pretty sure you can get it at your mom's house

  • What kind of lighting system you have in your tank....?

  • @roshan2946 Arcadia Marine White and Marine Blue

  • Is this a freshwater tank....?

  • @roshan2946 no duh

  • @roshan2946 Yes, but they made it look like a saltwater one.

  • whats the tank i.e trigon 190 or some thing

  • @musicstudio102 Trigon 350

  • I would think a show tank would focus on one lake and have fish from only it. I see fish from Malawi, Tang., and Victoria. nice tank nonetheless but a show tank?

  • @81Brennan Its not really a show tank, just a tank in our showroom.

It now only contains fish from Malawi, the Vic and Front were only temp at the time.

Think Ive mentioned that a few times on the comments already.

  • @rentanaquarium I was going by the description. I, like most people don't have the time or the desire to read 6+ pages of comments.

  • very nice, check out mine

  • nice OB!

  • Thank You, not usually a fan of OB myself, however he was a nice example.

Have an even better on in my own show tank now though!

  • ya I useally stay away from them but as long as there around I feel that many people will be to distracted from buying wild caught one.:)

  • are those real rocks?? by the way, Great Video.

  • Yeah its known as Coral Rock, helps buffer the water.

  • Nice, I got into Malawi's after diving in the lake a few times. Yours is very similar to my set-up although I only have rocks, no vedgetation plastic or real. I also agree to get a natural look like lake Malawi would be next to impossible. Keep the water clean, you fish fed with plenty of room and they will beperfectly happy. Good job there bud 5*

  • Thank You for the kind comment.

Im very jealous would love to go diving in the Lake, malawis are a passion of mine.

Im a moderator on a british based forum, if you have any pictures or even just willing to share any info and experience you have with the lake and keeping cichlids in the hobby, please join.

its malawiforum co uk my username is Robb

  • Agreed, that your fish your tank bred and have never seen or never will see the actual lake. But they have something like natural instincts!! they would always prefer and would be most comfortable in that enviornment. See if you have a lion cub and pet him, that doesnt mean he will start feeding on grass and milk :)

  • Please feel free to share a tank that actually replicates the lake to such an extent that it would fulfil the fishes "natural instincts" and make them feel more comfortable in their surrounding than with ocean rock and plants.

  • Bro, although your tank looks nice and colourful and clean, it doesnt look natual coz of the coral like things you have put admist the rocks. Looks more like a marine setup imitation. You need to create a tank that is the nearest to cichlid ecosys in real life. But ofcourse its your choice, i meant no offence...

  • I have a new 8x2x2 tank that is a very close imitation of the lake, however even this tank is far too small to even house a single rock from lake malawi no one has ever really emulated lake malawi because the boulders are huge, this is as natural to the fish as a more traditional freshwater looking fish.

End of the day all the fish in there are TB, none of them have ever seen or been near the lake.

  • looks fake!!!

  • What do you mean fake?

  • Great setup. I'll be setting up a Cichlid tank soon and your tank gives me some great ideas.

  • If you want more help and ideas on making a setup like this please join malawiforum I am a mod on there under the name of Robb

  • i am thinking of setting up a cichlid tank, is 125 litre o.k or is it too small, please reply thanks

  • @sk84mony it will depend on what type of cichlid you get and at what age. some cichlids will not grow to be very large. others can grow to be 12 in/30 cm. i am currently using a 30 gallon and am setting up a 45 gallon. The math is supposed to be figured as such. 1 Gallon per every inch in length of fish or 4 liters per 2.5 cm. your tank should be able to hold 50cm total length of fish. i would not go past 25-30 cm to start and not more than 5 cichlids to start. check my videos out for setup help

  • This is simply not true. The "1 inch per gallon of fish" rule is outdated and not very accurate. It all depends on what type of fish you have, and how your tank is setup.

Africans are better suited in large numbers, while Central and South American cichlids tend to be better of with their own territories and space.

  • i do a 2 gollon per tropical fish and 3 gollon per goldfish inch. it works out great with plenty of room for them

  • I agree theres no simple calculation to allow you to stock cichlids, especially not malawis.

However I feel 125 litre is too small personally. I would be happy to use it as a grow out tank for 1"-2" fish though.

For me cichlids are all about the biggest tank you can achieve, with massively over filtered and overstocked for mbuna put nice open swimming space if you want to keep haps.

If you want more help please join malawiforum Im a mod on there

  • beautiful tank! love the colors and it looks very peaceful~

  • I have 15 Lake Malwi cichlids in a 55 gallon tank, will they grow to full size ckeck out my new video and tell me if they will please!!!!!!!!!!! also nice tank what kind of light do you use?

  • This tank has Arcadia Marine white and Marine Blue, however I do all my latest tanks with LED's now.

  • Man I see ppl trying to hate, cuz ur tank sort of resembles, A salt water tank. But you know what homie. But all these ignorant haters. I think you have a really nice tank and im rating it 5/5

  • this tank looks too much like a wannabe salt water tank ... not like an african cichlid tank

  • Can you please explain the issue with this looking a bit like a saltwater tank?

I presume you are not going to say it looks un-natural and such. Lets face it no one has really achieved a natural look of a tank for malawis really.

None of my fish have come from the lake so have no knowledge of the lakes scapes.

Surly aquascaping is just personal choice?

  • "Surely aquascaping is just personal choice?"

Sure is. If you like your own tank, you've done well. ;)

  • ah...is Ok...not the best i seen...but keep up the good work.,....

  • are you serious about the live corals?? if you are i hope to god you dont have a tank

  • Who on earth said anything about having live corals? Cichlids are Freshwater fish, how would Corals survive?

  • There isnt even fake corals in there its just fake aquarium freshwater style plants? Only 1 you could possibly mistake is the red moss ball?

  • i was replying to the person below me im not an idiot.

  • Can you mix African Cichlids with Oscars, Convicts, and Jack Dempseys?

  • you can try it i wouldn't suggest it the oscars and jd's will get to big and eat your africans the convicts are really aggressive and would most likley kill everything in the tank i wouldn't mix them but ive seen people do it

  • @aniigroup no they are from completely different continents.

  • what is the aquarium and are those live corals??

  • What kind of lighting do you use?

  • Arcadia Marine White and Blue, nothing special mate

  • Très joli mais trop peuplé !!

  • amazing!!!!!!!

  • that frontosa will outgrow everyone else

  • Yeah dont worry it is no longer in that tank, it was only temparary as the frontosa came with a load of fish.

He is now in a 7ft Frontosa only tank

  • for a second i thought you were saying he was 7 feet long lol

  • What do you feed your peacock to get them beautifully colored like this. AMAZING!!

I'm currently using New life spectrum, but I don't think it's enough. Also, how often you change your water.

    Many thanks

  • I just feed NLS same as yourself mate nothing more nothing less.

50% water changes every week, you will see a massive difference in your fish If you keep the water very fresh!

  • Switch it up a little, I use Omega One(Color and Cichlid), Spirulina, Hikari Cichlid Gold and occasional live ghost shrimp or krill. I get awesome color out of my males. Good luck!

  • Why? Im getting fantastic colour out of a balanced diet without the added work of having to change the food all the time. Changing feeds has had nothing bud bad effects for me in the past.

The cichlids have never got bored of NLS they love it as much today as they did the day I first fed them it and its has everything already built in!

Its the perfect food choice I think.

  • try Tetra Pro Colour .. it helped my malawi cichlids

  • Wow! That looks awesome! what size tank? it looks kinda rounded? bowfront?

  • Yeah its a 350 litres Corner Tank and Thanks

  • Hi Dougie, so this is the all male tank, now i know what you was trying to say, very very nice!!

  • Thank You

  • What type of rock is that?

  • Its Ocean Rock

  • Bristlenose are the best cleaning fish to go in with cichlids they will have a tank clean overnight. You need to use 4" plus ones though really, any smaller and the cichlids scare them too much.

  • very kool setup. how do you keep the ocean rocks soo clean. i usualy clean them every month but after two weeks they go green and black wot would you suggest i do?

  • I usually use aragonite for subtrate with cichlids and ocean rock

  • what substrate and rock formations do you use?

  • Thanks very much

  • Quite possibly the most beautiful cichlid tank I have ever seen! Amazing quality fish you have there.
